Announcement: This Week at Seanchai Libraries
It was a wild and magical December with this year's Dickens Project. What with the timing of the holiday and the closing of Dickens, we are making this a light week. Don't panic! We'll be back in full swing next week with several new series and plenty of stories to share.
This week there will only be one session, Thursday, January 3rd at 7pm with Shandon THE ICE DRAGON by George R.R. Martin. It accompanies and art exhibition on the HK Gallery lawn.

ON DECEMBER 27th a plein-air exhibit will open for one week only on the lawn at the Art Gallery in Holly Kai. More than two dozen exquisite illustrations from the story 'The Ice Dragon' will be on display.

ON JANUARY 3rd The Seanchai Library will be presenting 'The Ice Dragon' as a live voice Storytelling event at 7pm SLT. See www.SeanchaiLibrary.com for more information.
In George R.R. Martin's world of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' the ice dragon was a creature of legend and fear, for no man had ever tamed one.
'THE ICE DRAGON' is a novella by George R. R. Martin, first published in 1980 in the anthology Dragons of Light. The story was reworked to make it more suitable for a younger audience in October 2007, with detailed pencil drawings by Yvonne Gilbert. It was published again in 2014, with a series of original paintings by Luis Royo.
GEORGE R.R. MARTIN is of course the author of the series 'A Song of Ice and Fire' - The thrilling history of the Targaryens comes to life in HBO’s epic series 'Game of Thrones'.

LUIS ROYO is a Spanish artist. He is best known for his lavish, fantasy illustrations published in numerous art books, magazines such as Heavy Metal and various other media including book, music CD covers, and video games.

THE NOVELLA follows the story of a young girl, Adara, who befriends an ice dragon after the death of her mother.
As of May 2018, the favorite bedtime story of the denizens of the world of Ice and Fire is being brought to the big screen by Warner Brothers Studios! Martin will serve as a producer, with Game of Thrones producer Vince Gerardis serving as executive producer.
While Martin has stated that 'The Ice Dragon' is not necessarily set in the world of 'A Song of Ice and Fire', and actual ice dragons have not appeared in the series, yet, it is rife with foreshadowing and hints of what Martin has created throughout his epic fantasy series. So don't be surprised to find ice dragons soaring through the skies beyond The Wall and, perhaps, even crossing it in the novels yet to come.
