EOTB: Lab Announces New Viewer, Says It Will Help Fix PBR Issues

 

In the official blog late last week, Linden Lab announced that their latest viewer, 7.1.10, also known as Delta FPS, was now available for download. This viewer promised to bring "performance enhancements that are on par with our pre-PBR levels." 

After thorough testing and your valuable feedback, we’re happy to report that version 7.1.10, known as DeltaFPS, is now available for all residents as the official Second Life viewer. This update brings performance enhancements that are on par with our pre-PBR levels, ensuring a smoother and more responsive experience.

The Lab promises the new viewer offers improved frame rates, bug fixes and stability improvements, and enhanced rendering. 

The blogpost would also mention the new Firestorm viewer, announced a few days ago. 

The Lab would state they're monitoring feedback on the new viewer as they work on still another update, 7.1.11, also known as ExtraFPS.

With DeltaFPS now fully released we are going to be closely monitoring the performance metrics, and our team is hard at work on ExtraFPS (7.1.11), the next major update designed to push Second Life’s performance beyond previous limits.
