Press Release: American Cancer Society Day in Second Life

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY DAY IN SECOND LIFE

This January 27 2019 is American Cancer Society in Second Life Day.

Since 2004 the American Cancer Society has been part of Second Life. Most Second Life residents know The Relay For Life of Second Life, established in 2005. It is one the largest Relay fundraiser events in the world and has raised nearly $L1 Billion.  Residents may also know about Making Strides Against Breast Cancer or the 'mega-event' fundraisers Fantasy Faire, SL Christmas Expo, SciFi Convention and the Home and Garden Expo.

Just as in the physical world the American Cancer Society is more that its fundraising events.  Since 1913 the American Cancer Society has lead the global fight against cancer.  In addition to funding ground breaking research the Society offers more programs for Survivors and Caregivers than any other organization, continues to fight for equitable cancer and health care and education and provides support in the fight against cancer on a global scale.

Since 2008 the American Cancer Society has had a 'local office' right here in Second Life.  American Cancer Society is a full region available to any Second Life resident who wants to know more about our programs and fundraising events.

American Cancer Society day is an Open House to re-introduce the Society and our virtual home to Second Life residents. Visitors can:
