Veterans Isle Benefit Concert Raises Over 100,000L

On Sunday June 26, Veterans Isle was the location of a benefit concert. From 10 AM to about 3PM, one DJ and several live musicians performed for the crowd. The event was to raise money for Homes Foe Our Troops, and was organized in part by Frets Nirvana.

Beat the Summer heat folks!  Today is our monthly Homes For Our Troops benefit.  And it is going to be a cool one!  Right now we have Kyle Forrester kicking it off with an hour of great DJ music. Then take a look at this lineup:

Kyle Forrester DJ 10 AM
Fly Kugin 11 AM
Austin Moores 12 PM
Mavenn 1 PM
Charice 2 PM

Come on out and help us hit our goal today ….for those that have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

As it turned out, Fly was held up due to real life. So Kyle DJed longer than planned. She would later tell me, "Sure this gets My name out there but ... I get to do one of my favorite things and raise money for a good cause. Doesn't get much better than that."

People would donate money into two house-shaped kiosks on either side of the stage as the performances went on. Occasionally, Frets would challenge the crowd to put in more, "Hit that 50k by half time folks, and I am putting in another 2500." He would also remind the people why Homes For Our Troops was a worthy charity, "Folks ...Nearly 90 cents of every dollar spent goes directly towards building Homes for our extremely injured veterans through Homes for Our Troops!  This is incredible.  The industry standard says if you can find a charity 65 cents or above that is good.  So this is excellent!

"Since inception HFOT has built 330 homes. (as of 1/01/2022). And HFOT has approximately 72 projects in the pipeline for our extremely injured veterans."

The Newser was also informed by someone in the crowd they planned to do a motorcycle HFOT repaint , with all of the money going to the charity (further details to come).

At the end of the event, a total of 105,175 Linden dollars had been collected.

These benefit concerts are usually on the last weekend of the month.
