Space Remembrance Day at the National Space Society

There are some events in which every American who was alive and more than a few years old knows where they were when they heard about it. Two involve the space program. One was when men finally landed on the moon. The other was a tragic event, when seven astronauts were killed when the space shuttle Challenger exploded shortly after takeoff. Just as space fans celebrate the triumphs of exploration, they also take a little time to remember those who were lost. On Monday, the National Space Society had their "Space Remembrance Day" discussion.

The National Space Society Celebrates the Moon Landing

It was 44 years ago last Saturday in which Niel Armstrong set foot on the moon, the first time mankind had stepped on the surface on another place in space. To celebrate, the National Space Society held a party for the occasion near their library. Some noteworthy people showed up, some space ballads were played, and one of the NSS crew had a pretty active day earlier at the Neil Armstrong Museum in Ohio.
