The Newser Beach Party

On Saturday, August 17 at 12PM SL time, the Staff of Second Life Newser and some of their friends stopped by the beach near Gemma Cleanslate's place at Skye Condos in  Thorstar.

The fun went on for over two hours. Both Qwark Allen and Grease Coakes took turns DJing for the event. Qwark had his "Psytrance," while Grease had pop music tunes.

Besides the music, there was food available. There was cake, and a plateful of extra-large hamburgers.

A lot of fun was had by all.

Last weekend had the third and the last of the Second Life Newser Third Anniversary parties. It was held high above the Corner of Revolving Time in Ophelia. A number of friends came by, and a lot of fun was had.

Filmed by Qwark Allen Sunday June 24 sometime in the afternoon. Qwark, his partner Gemma Cleanslate, and I have an office get-together with a few friends of ours. Most of us loved it, but Gemma had mixed feelings, "Hey! My mouth's open! I look like I'm yelling at the boss!"

No she wasn't, and I was there as her witness. But it's still a great souvenir for us from the SL9B

The SL Newser at SL9B Party

On Friday, June 22nd, SL Newser held a party at it's exhibit at the Second Life Ninth Birthday area, in the Kyuu sim. The party was held on a platform way above the exhibit. People began showing up at 1 in the afternoon, and it went on from there.

DJ Qwark spun the tunes, mostly 70s & 80s pop.

Gemma Cleanslate (green ball over head) was able to take a break from greeter duties. Bejita, a regular to Qwark's parties, had on some colorful armor.

Not usually one for parties, Xymbers showed up ... as a female werewolf in a dress and tiara.


Other guests included blogger Treminari Huet, DJ Kryxia and Hostess Miyuki from Club Zero Gravity, and a number of other friends. It could get a bit laggy, as shown by the grey avatars in this picture.

The party went on for almost two hours until a sim restart brought it to an end a few minutes early. Despite that and the lag, a good time was held by all.

Come to Second Life Newser in SL9B for a Party

Today, Second Life Newser is having a party at it's SL9B location. The party will be on a platform over the office exhibit, and is open to all. DJ Qwark will provide the tunes.

The party will be at 1PM SL time at DreamSeeker SL9B Kyuu (80, 72, 152)

New Year's Eve at Home

On Friday, Gemma Cleanslate had a small rezzday party thrown for her by friends, with her partner Qwark Allen DJing the tunes.

Happy Anniversary Qwark & Gemma

Yesterday, October 30th, was the 4rth anniversary of when SL Newser's Gemma Cleanslate and DJ Qwark Allen tied the knot. Solarhydro Cleanslate DJed for this party as the couple just danced on the floor. Prizes, and virtual desserts, were available to guests.

FCA HQ Opening Party

On Sunday Sept. 18th at 2PM, the FCA held a "housewarming party" for it's new HQ, intended as both the location of official meetings and a social hangout for staff and club regulars. But for the DJ providing the tunes for the party, FCA leader Nydia Tungsten reached out beyond the member clubs usual DJs, and Qwark Allen was picked as the music man.


The FCA, made up of several different clubs, stands for "Furry Club Alliance." In the past, the group had simply been known as the club alliance. Not all of them are aimed at furred residents, and club owners have expressed a desire to attract a more diverse crowd.

DJ Qwark, the partner of Second Life Newser reporter Gemma Cleanslate, had been playing at "The Lighttower" on Sundays at this time, until the club closed down. Showing up at the party with a mostly furred audience, he donned a Pink Panther avatar. Some of his friends showing up did similar. And when Quark and others began changing into other avatars, the jokes began to flow, "Eeps! He turned into a T-Rex! Someone tip him before he bites someone! Or worse turns purple and starts singing kids music!" Not everyone danced. Some were checking out the pool and hot tub, and other places.

Qwark DJed for a few hours, his fans from the Lighttower and the FCA furries getting along fine. Eventually he left, and the party took on a more relaxed feel, more taking a dip in the hot tub while others continued to dance to the music or relax on chairs & swings.

Nydia, who owns Club Zero Gravity as well as being the FCA head, was impressed with the performance, and Qwark is currently scheduled to perform again next Sunday at 2PM at the space club.
