Breaking News: SL20B Extended

For those who wanted a few more days to look around the SL20B area, good news. It was just announced in the Second Life Birthday group that the sims for the event will be staying up until Sunday July 16.

Patch has generously said that the SL20B regions and the Shop and Hop will stay open thru Sunday, July 16. that means there are still seven more days to enjoy SL20B experience! Have fun! And yes parties at the exhibits are allowed!

The news was delivered by Missy Mole (Mischievous Mole), who would add, "I know rumors were floating around since the Meet the Moles talk but I wanted to make sure it was confirmed before we made an announcement."

The news was greeted with cheers in the Birthday group, one person musing the "Shop and Hop" being extended would be bad news to her bank account.

Once again, the Second Life Birthday sims, including those for the Shop and Hop, will be up until Sunday July 16.

SL20B Update

It's less than a month until the Second Life Twentieth Birthday celebrations. On the map, a search for sims with SLB in their name turned up this collection of regions, far south of the main group of the Grod's sims.

There was no one single landmass of SLB sims, but they were in several groups, the largest sixteen in size. While there will be a separate area for the adult-rated sims, there were none that I saw which had that rating. And the SL19B symbol was still on the map. So clearly, more work on the sims is forthcoming.

As for the exhibitors, on May 26, those still in the Second Life Birthday Exhibitors group from last year, at least those who were still there, got the following message from Missy Mole:

If you are still in this group then you have applied and been accepted to build an exhibit for SL20B. Congratulations! We are just about finished setting up the regions for you to come in and start building. Information about your parcel size and location will follow over the weekend. It is safe to say that 99% of you received the parcel size you requested.

But unlike most years, setting up the exhibits will not be happening in May. On May 30, Missy Mole had another message.

... I almost have the parcels all assigned for those of you that filled in the acceptance form. I was hoping to have the regions open today but I am going to say we will be open by June 1 now. I know people are very anxious to get onto the regions and start building but you will still have two full weeks to finish the exhibits. I'm sorry for the delays but hopefully everything will be perfect when you get onto your parcels

Stay tuned for more information

SL19B Extended To Sunday July 10

For those who can't get enough of the Second Life Birthday, or whose real-life kept them from checking out the sims, some good news. In the Second Life Birthday Exhibitor group, Missy Mole (Mischievous Mole) announced that the time the sims would remain open was extended to Sunday July 10.

The regions will be open thru Sunday, July 10. You can come in and pick up your exhibits next Monday and Tuesday, July 11-12. We hope everyone had a great experience building for the Birthday. I loved seeing all the creativity that you brought to the exhibits! Time to start planning for next year :)

Have a great summer!

The ending date of the Shop and Hop, which was Sunday July 10 all along, remains unchanged.

It's unknown why Linden Lab waited until the last day of the scheduled time before making the announcement, or why there was no announcement in the regular Second Life Birthday group.  But in any event, we have a few extra days to enjoy the exhibits and do shopping hunts. And of course impromptu parties.

*Update* Just before 8 AM SL time, Linden Lab finally announced the news in the main SL Birthday group, Missy Mole giving the news.

Good news! If you haven't finished exploring the 225 exhibits that are part of the Birthday estate, you still have time! The Birthday region will remain accessible thru Sunday, July 10 to explore. Jump on a pod tour. It's a great way to cruise through the exhibits!

And don't forget to pick up all the gifts, both at the Tapestry of Time and at the SL19B Shop and Hop which is also open thru July 10.

SL18B Update

For the past several days, the various exhibitors have been getting their plots on the sims assigned for exhibits for the SL18B. Just yesterday, the Newser was assigned it's own (in SLB Pizzazz). In the past, we'd show a picture of our mostly bare plot with the placeholder. But that wasn't the case last year this one due to Linden Lab's media silence rule in regards to the sims for the event, one that Missy Mole reminded the exhibitors of a few days ago.

A reminder that there should be no teasers or random pictures posted or shared from the Birthday regions. Not even of your own exhibit. You are all co-conspirators in a massive secret that will be revealed on opening day, Thursday, June 17. Until then, not a word or a picture about what the regions look like.

The only pictures we can show are those of the Second Life map, which one can take from anywhere inworld (exhibitor or not).  The sims are still split and spread apart. What has changed is that shapes are appearing where the exhibits are, so far the only clues that can be shown as to what they look like.

The  SL18B will officially open to all on Thursday June 17.

Stay tuned for further details as they become available.
