"Unscheduled Maintenance" Strikes Wednesday Afternoon, Night

If you had some trouble Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night inworld, from appearing as a cloud to inventory issues. You weren't alone. I saw in several groups inworld saying that they had problems rezzing, finding items in their inventory, seeing others, logging in and staying logged in, and other troubles.  In the Sunweavers community group, it's leader Rita Mariner would post about it, "Technical Issues With SL Tonight."

Seems LL broke SL.  No one can rezz anything.  I have a club of invisible people.  If the issue isn't cleared by start of dance, I will cancel it.

And as it turned out, Linden Lab was doing Unscheduled Maintenance at the time.

We are currently conducting an unscheduled maintenance & investigating an issue impacting logins. You may experience issues logging in or with rezzing items from your inventory during this time. Please monitor this blog for updates.

At 6:32 PM SL time, Linden Lab declared the issue resolved. But that wasn't the end of the troubles. Up to late morning the following day, people would continue to have issues with rezzing and seeing others. Various residents had things to say about it, including Rose Redfoxx (Rose Evans), who sent the Newser one memefied picture (left).

The "Harecut" at Club Cutlass

Last Wednesday June 1, it was the last day for people to bid on the three "Bid Me" events for the Relay for Life team representing the Sunweaver community: Team Sunbeamers. Rita Mariner's "Bid Me Pink" generated the most interest with over 27,000 Lindens raised, but more had been donated to the "stay white bunny" side, so she got to remain the same. So the spotlight then switched to Becky Shamen, whose "Bid Me Bald" had raised over 15,000 Lindens, with most of the money going to the "Bald" kiosk. So Rita rezzed a barber chair, and got a pair of scissors provided by Trader Whiplash. Becky appeared a little less than thrilled about the idea, judging by this screenshot.

And so Rita began snipping away. One of the 'weavers kept joking, "Queen of Hearts: 'That's enough! Off with their heads! .. I mean hair.'" "Oh what a nice necklace you have there.. wait.. are those.. Earlobes?" "Rita .. Rita that is called Epidermis .. you can stop snipping." Finally, Rita was done snipping the head hair, "Done. Ok, you're BALD for 4 weeks." "Now she needs a nice massage for the head with some oils.. also against the itch of growing back." Becky managed a chuckle, "regardless of which av I wear, for the next 4 weeks, it will be bald." Rita mused, "She could wear a bowler, from a 007 movie, and be Oddjob."

To keep those who had chipped into the "Bid Rita Pink" vendor, Rita posed for the camera in her pink bunny avatar briefly, "We are doing good, but if they had taken the bait and out bid me to turn me PINK, we would be that much closer to GOLD. Of course I would be PINK for 6 weeks, and have to burn those avatars and clothes after I was done. *laughs*" It was pointed out that the team was already past the 2/3 mark to Gold Rank.

Becky Shamen would also do a video of the event: Click here.

Of Rose Evans' "Bid Me Human," which raised over 10,000 Lindens, she had this to say, "Since I lost the Bid Me and I'm going to be a human for the month of June, I am presently working on a more generic human av based on my neko avs to use for the extended period."

As of the writing of this article, the Sunbeamers have raised 209,800 Linden dollars this year for the Relay for Life. They're not done yet as they have other events as the season goes on, the next one being their annual air show in Pacific Waters, planned for Saturday June 11.

Last Day For Three Sunbeamer "Bid Me" Fundraiders

With the total amount raised by team Sunbeamers for the Relay of Life now having past 200K, currently at 205,836 (as of the writing of this article, the team is making progress towards it's goal of Gold Level. For those who want to help out today is the last day for the current three "Bid Me" events going on, Rose Evans' "Bid Me Human," Becky "Sha" Shamen's "Bid Me Bald," and Rita Mariner's "Bid Me Pink."

All three "Bid Me"s have generated heavy interest, with Rose's over 10K and Becky's over 15K. But the one for the Sunbeamer leader has gotten almost as much as these two combined with 25,000 Lindens to keep her as is, and 9740 to dye her. On Monday, Rita had the following group announcement:

For those of you wanting to turn me PINK< 16K Lindens will do it, unless some folks drop a few lindens on the other kiosk, but the sweet taste of PINK is within your grasp and I will be stuck PINK for 6 WEEKS!  GAH!  THE HORROR!  of course I can switch various avatars and clothes as long as I remain PINK!  That might help me maintain some sanity!

Fifteen thousand Lindens is no small change. But if the history of the Sunbeamers, and the Passionate Redheads before them, is any guide, they can do it. It may take some appealing to Relayers outside the team to help arrange the "Bubblegum Crisis," but they can do it.

And for anyone who's worrying about messing with the "killer rabbit's" head, you can throw in a "Zootopia" DVD to calm her down.

Club Cutlass is at Sunweaver Bay (115, 107, 157) with the kiosks in the lobby behind the dance floor and DJ booth.

Besides the "Bid Me" fundraisers, there have been some other events the Sunbeamers have been involved in. On Friday May 27, the team held a small "Jail and Bail," with Valkyrie "Ice" McGill, and Applebloom (jeanettedjennet) in the cages, "Help!! I was framed!" Skylark Lefavre, playing the part of the jailer, stated the charges were that Applebloom "Busted a groove," and Valkyrie "busted out of her bra" in a G-rated sim, thus under arrest for "indecent exposure." Others present there included Alleara Snoodle.

Eventually, the time was up, and the prisoners were released. But there was a complication when Skylark accidentally locked herself in, and had forgotten the key. After a few minutes of chuckling, someone finally let her out.

Two days later on Sunday May 29. there was a multi-team fishing tournament. The event involved 7Seas fishing poles, but to give everyone an equal chance, the hooks had to remain unbaited. A number of Sunbeamers showed up for the event. The winners of each match got some cash to donate to their team.

The Sunbeamers got first place in two matches, one winner being Rita Mariner, the other being Dusk Griswold. Zorro Wuramunga, the Sunbeamer most noted for his love of fishing wasn't there until late.

The Sunbeamers have also been dropping by other Relay events. So the little community team is determined to make a big presence as the Relay goes on.

Three "Bid Me" Events By Team Sunbeamers

Following the "Fox Avatar Challenge" and "Bid Dusk Something," Team Sunbeamers is currently having not one, but three "Bid Me" events to raise funds for the Relay for Life. The three are "Bid Me Human" for DJ Rose, "Bid Me Bald" for the Newser's own Becky Shamen, and the Sunbeamer leader is putting herself on the line with "Bid Me Pink." All three events have their kiosks at Club Cutlass, which will be totaled after the club's Wednesday night party on June 1st.

Rose Evans, a resident of Purrfection, is best known for her tunes as DJ Rose at the Happy Vixen. Talking to her, she told me no one talked her into this, but volunteered on her own, wanting to do something to help. Normally a white tigress, she offered to put her fur on the line, and be stuck as a brown-haired human for a while. As of the writing of this article, residents have contributed 700 Lindens to keep her fur intact, but 5050 to make her tailless for a while.

Becky "Sha" Shamen, the Newser reporter making her home in the Sunweaver Estates, has opted for the traditional "Bid Me Bald" challenge. While many furred avatars have their prim hair fixed to their scalp so it can't be removed, this isn't the case with her mesh bunny. So she's put her hair on the line.

Sunnies/Beamers!  Becky Shamen, aka Sha has offered herself up to get shaved, to raise donations for the Sunbeamers and the RFL   You can find the kiosks in the Club Cutlass lounge area, so bid high and often.  Sha has been very supportive of the Team and the RFL, let's support her.

As word's gotten around, other Relayers have been getting into the act. Trader Whiplash, the man considered to have started the original "Bid Me Bald" contributed a barber chair and a pair of scissors to the event. So on the night of June 1st, poor Becky could very well be facing a "hare cut." Who will be behind the pair of scissors is yet to be determined.

As of the writing of this article, 100 Lindens have been donated to keep Becky as is, with 5,550 donated for the "harecut," making for a total of 5650 and so far the most successful of the three events.

And last but hardly least is Rita Mariner, the chieftess of the Sunweaver community and the leader of it's Relay team the Sunbeamers, whom volunteered for a "Bid Me Pink."

Sunnies:  I have put myself up for a BID ME,  You can choose to keep me my cute, sweet, white bunny, or turn me into an EBIL, PINK BUNNY!  I dislike pink on me!  So here is your chance at REVENGE!  Kiosks are in the Club Cutlass Lounge, along with the other 2 Bid Mes.

Remember I change and stay for a week for each 5K L raised. So far you only got me for a week.

Over the years, Rita has been in a number of "Bid Me" events for both the Passionate Redheads and Sunbeamer Teams. In 2011, she did a "Bid Me Human" that netted 75,000 Lindens. In 2014 was the "Man Up Rita" event that brought over 72,000 Lindens that resulted in her looking like Pepe Le Pew for a while (an avatar some commented she was overqualified for).

Will Rita be facing a "Bubblegum Crisis" on the night of June 1? So far, 1100 Lindens have been donated to keep her a white bunny, with 2000 to make her "pretty in pink." While so far the smallest total, there's little doubt the amount will increase as the Sunnies, and their friends, get to have a little fun with the "killer rabbit." Whether or not at the close of the June 1 party at Cutlass the DJ plays "White Rabbit" or a song from the band "Pink" is anyone's guess.

As for as the writer knows, all three events are 5,000 Lindens for the first week, and an additional week for the next 5,000 raised.

Club Cutlass is at Sunweaver Bay (115, 107, 157) with the kiosks in the lobby behind the dance floor and DJ booth.
