20th Annual Hair Fair in Second Life Offering Limited Edition Last Names, Lifetime Premium Plus, Premium Auction

With the attention on the Relay for Life, it's easy to miss another cancer-related fundraiser going on in Second Life: The Hair Fair. Taking place in six sims, it offers a large variety of hairpieces, as well as other headgear like bandanas and wraps. And for it's anniversary, this Hair Fair is offering something special: Limited Edition last names and a  Lifetime Premium Plus and Lifetime Premium auctions.

...the 20th annual Hair Fair event in Second Life. Since 2010, Hair Fair has proudly partnered with Wigs For Kids, raising crucial funds and awareness to support children experiencing medical hair loss. Each year, creators, organizers, and residents come together to make this virtual event a meaningful celebration of community and generosity.

Like every year, the Hair Fair has numerous shops offering hairpieces for sale, each with a listed percentage of sales going to the charity Wigs For Kids. Fifteen percent is the minimum amount, with 100% of the bandana sales going to the fundraiser. They are in six sims, grouped by hair color: Blonde, Brunette, Redhead, Streaks, Noirette, Fouls. Supporting a good cause isn't the only reason people come here. You can find varieties here that can be hard to find anywhere else, especially men's hair.

But there are two things that set this Hair Fair apart. One is you can purchase one of three limited edition surnames for your account (all hair related): Style, Salon, and Strand.

You can purchase at the event the last name of your choice and these will be manually set in motion with Linden Lab. They are being sold for the standard name change fee of L 12250 and 100 % goes to Wigs for Kids. You can also change your first name included in the price.

These will not only have the awesome factor of having such unique new names, but also knowing that the name has history of helping Wigs for Kids ♥. Who do their best to promote this event every year on their own website.

As a reminder, your name will not change instantly, "While the name change is not instant it is done in order of filing your ticket, so do that as soon as you purchase." To get one of these last names, head to:  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Hair%20Fair%20-%20Blonde/236/251/24

But this isn't all. You can also bid to get to upgrade to a Lifetime Premium account or a Lifetime Premium Plus account. You'll never have to pay another monthly fee for as long as Second Life is around.

Hair Fair 2026 has been given the amazing opportunity to Auction off two Lifetime accounts, where 100% of the proceeds will go to Wigs for Kids.

 - 1 Lifetime Premium Plus account.

 - 1 Lifetime Premium account.

The starting bids are based on the purchase price of these accounts set by Linden Lab. The Auction closes on 14th June but do not miss out on getting your bid in, if you are outbid before the auction ends you will be sent a notecard with landmark to return to the location to bid again if you wish to do so - which will also show as an offline notice to email if you have your settings that way. Please visit regularly during the event to keep your eye on the Auction.

The Hair Fair is going on until Sunday June 14.

A Few More Days For The Hair Fair

With the Relay Weekend having just taken place, there's one other cancer-related fundraiser some may have missed: The Hair Fair. But if you're interested, hurry up as it lasts only a few more days.

Hair Fair 2025 is now open, where all the participants of this event showcase their latest Exclusives (pictured) as well as past releases, that all donate a percentage to Wigs for Kids. We hope you will join us for the two weeks this event runs per year, and possibly find some new to you creators, while buying from some favourites.

There are six sims of stores, Blonde, Redhead, Noirette, Foils, Brunette, and Streaks. It should be noted that not all of the money the event makes goes to charity. Some items only give the minimum amount. But the bandanas and hairwraps do sent 100% of their sales to the charity.

The event won't be up for much longer. Sunday June 15 is the last day.

Hair Fair 2017

With the Relay Weekend coming up, the Relay for Life is clearly the most active charity this month. But by all means it's not the only one. The 2017 Hair Fair, which raises money for Wigs for Kids, has been going on since the first of the month, and will continue until Sunday July 16.

Over four sims, Osmium, Iridium, Rhodium, and Platinum, various small shops offer a number of hairpieces for male and female avatars, with at least 15% going to charity. The website also states, "There are also Kiosks for direct donations, and Bandana Booths that donate 100% of all purchases." Among the booths, there were also a number of pictures up, possibly the results of an art contest.

Wigs for Kids is a charity that is aimed at helping children deal with hair loss, such as from the side-effects of chemotherapy, by providing them with hairpieces made from human hair. More  can be read about them at: http://dfwhairloss.com/wigs-for-kids/ .

Hair Fair 2016

Not all charities deal directly with curing illnesses. A few deal with quality of life of those afflicted. For those suffering from baldness due to the effects of chemotherapy treatment, it's bad enough for adults. But for children, losing their hair can be truly devastating. This is where the charity "Wigs for Kids" comes in, providing hairpieces for younger cancer patients. In Second Life, the most noted event raising funds for the charity is the annual Hair Fair, taking place right now. With six sims to shop in, there's a lot of cover for one's virtual noggin. Becky Shamen decided to to give the event a look to see what was available.

Hair Fair 2015 Opens

A few days ago on July 11, this year's "Hair Fair" fundraiser event opened. Taking place over six sims,
Ruthenium, Rhodium (Redhead), Palladium, Osmium (Noirette), Iridum (Brunette), and Platinum (Blonde), the event offers designers a chance to show off their wares, as well as deals for women, and men.

One small problem. When I tried getting in the SURL suggested by the viewer, I couldn't. The sim was full. I ported to close by. Still wasn't able to walk in.

For those interested, head on to Palladium (23, 23, 23), though for now, expect delays due to crowds.

Money raised from the Hair Fair goes to support "Wigs For Kids," which makes hairpieces for children cancer patients suffering hair loss due to the effects of chemotherapy.

SL Enquirer: Second Life Hair Fair 2013- July 13th-July 28th

SL Enquirer's Tea Couturier reports on this year's Hair Fair, "Hair Fair 2013 in SL is one of the biggest and longest running fairs in SL for the past 3 years.  At this fair, creators show off  an assortment of new or present styles they have on shelves now or will be in stores soon. It is a great way to find new styles and meet creators you may not have known about before as well as see familiar creators work."

Wigs For Kids: The Hair Fair

I took a quick trip over to the Hair Fair. The fair is set up to gather all the best hair available in SL and to raise money for “Wigs for Kids.” Having been to one before, I took the advice of the poster board warning of lag and put on an outfit and hair base provided. I also decided to use the “bus.” There is a prim rezzer available for anyone who wants to ride a bus, which is actually a prim on which you sit and edit yourself all over the sims. I tried it for a while but it was too cumbersome.

As you know, Hair creators usually let you wear a demo before you decide to make a purchase. Can someone explain to me what is the sense of handing out a demo box which cant be opened immediatly at the fair to try the hair??? I left that shop quickly. The easiest way to find your favorite vendor is to check the website which lists all the shops and you can get to the slurl by clicking on the name. http://hairfair.wordpress.com/ .

There are some lovely mesh hair styles if your computer supports mesh. I did try on some offerings. You will find styles for children, male and female, as well as adults. The Fair is not just for humans. I ran into an android shopping for hair and hats. July 29 is Bandana Day when you are all invited to wear a bandana in honor of those children who have lost their hair in treatment. You will find a shop with all sorts of bandanas to purchase.

Take a tip, go low script, prim, or be prepared for uber lag!

The fair will be open til the 29th of July. Enjoy! http://hairfair.wordpress.com/

Hair Fair 2011

Today was the last day of the 2011 Hair Fair in Second Life. Going on for six years, the event described itself as celebrating "the best in Second Life Hairstyle design." The event had displays in tents from various companies and designers covering four sims, Platinum, Iridium, Rhodium, and Osmium.

There were numerous hairpeices/wigs up for sale, as well as bandanas and other headwear. There were also some freebies and demos available as well. The money raised goes to Wigs for Kids, a charity donating wigs to children suffering hair loss from conditions such as chemotherapy for cancer treatments.

This year, the place had a beach theme, with walkways of planks in the sand and surfboards standing next to palm trees. There were a few exhibits around, such as sand sculptures with poseballs one could sit on.

The event was mentioned in the Second Life Destination Guide, and mentioned in Second Life fashion blogs such as Juicy Bomb, and Kakia Designs.

The entrance to the event is located at Platinum (15, 122, 21), for those wanting to check the place for displays still open before the sims are cleaned out. The official website for the event is at http://hairfair.wordpress.com/ .
