"A Few of My Favorite Hemes"

The “heme cofactor” is familiar to us as the part of hemoglobin where oxygen attaches for transport through blood. It lends blood its characteristic color. However, the heme unit is a versatile part of many biological functions. It participates in the metabolism of perceived toxins by the liver, in the production and sensing of the neurotransmitter NO, and as support for other enzyme systems by managing  electron availability. In this talk, we will explore some of the basic structural features of heme and their consequences in biological systems.

Commentary: New Health Group, The International Blood Disorder Community

It's been a while since Wesley Regenbogen sent in an article. This was due mainly due to certain events in real life. But he was also looking into creating a group for those with blood-related illnesses. After some talk with people at Virtual Ability, he went ahead and created the Second Life group: the International Blood Disorder Community.

Game Review - Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

In her latest game review, Nydia Tungsten takes a look at the single-player Fantasy game "Shadow of Mordor." She found the game's opening especially grim, "This game starts off darker than any game I have ever played before." Following that, the action continues to be quite violent and bloody. So for those whom don't shy away from a little blood and violence, how playable did Nydia feel the game was?
