"Mystery Science Theater 3000" Moves To New Babbage

 

Longtime readers will likely remember the Mystery Science Theater 3000. I first wrote about it for the Second Life Newspaper in 2008, and have occasionally checked in on it. When we last wrote about this venue regularly showing movies so hilariously bad they're good, or at least good for poking fun at, it was in the sim This Island Earth. Checking recently, I found out it had moved, but to a place I hadn't expected. It was now in the steampunk community of New Babbage.

 

Instead of the "Satellite of Love," the place had a more Steam Age look, down to the panels that led to the movie theater when entering the theater. 

 

In the actual theater are panels you can click on for more information, and a group joiner. And of course there's the tip jar to help fund the insanity.

 

The movies at MST3K, cheesy as always, are Tuesdays at 5:30 PM SL time, Wednesdays 6PM, Thursdays at 6PM, and "other events at random dates and times," which are best kept track of by joining the group.

"Cheesy" Tournament at the Happy Vixen: More Pictures

Well, sometimes when you think you've lost something, you've found it again. When I was looking for pictures of last weekend's "Cheesy" tournament at the Happy Vixen, I found fewer than I thought I took, and many of those I did couldn't be used. As it turned out, I had relogged, and saved the pictures with a slight misspelling in the name. So here are a few more images of the event.

 The goal was to win two matches. But several players won one before someone finally came out on top.

And here's ScentualLust, the winner. While "au naturel,"she always keeps her fur brushed over certain parts of the body that would make a picture unusable in this publication. She gave her prize to a friend in Derpyland.

"Cheesy" Tournament at the Happy Vixen

Saturday April 2 was the day of the Parcheesi, or "Cheesy" as some American players in Second Life call it, tournament at the Happy Vixen. Organized by Nydia Tungsten for the "Furry Gamers" group, the prize was a free game of "Contagion," a zombie first-person shooter game, on Steam.

As the Happy Vixen is on a nude beach, there were a few players whom were "au-naturel," so the best pictures yours truly took couldn't be used here. Jasmine Dawn, L'sai Aeon, and Valkyre were among those who won a match. The winner was ScentualLust of Luskwood.

Steelhead Salmons RFL Event: To The Moon

Steelhead's final RFL event of the season, on July 6th, is all based on A Trip To The Moon. So, come join us for a dance on the moon. You can dress in something Sci Fi Cheesy, something straight Sci Fi, or you can come just as you are.

Also, included, is an auction of items and services provided by some of Steelhead's finest. Fun items, interesting items, even services, such as Djing services. Never know what we may have to offer that would interest you.

Dance begins at 7:00 on July 6th. Come join us, and bring crackers.....you know, just in case the moon is really made of cheese. Music provided by Fuzzball Ortega.
