Shining Stars Hunt

 

 Besides seeing the exhibits, and the "Golden Ticket Giveaway," there are other things to do at the Second Life Birthday sims. One is the "Shinning Stars Hunt."

 

To do the hunt, you're going to need the HUD. You get it at SLB Incredible (149/231/21) (not far from the Red Carpet Welcome). There are two givers, one for the HUD and one for the prizes. Click on the one on the left to get the HUD, and then "add" it to your avie. It should appear on your viewer on the upper left. Once it does, you're ready to start looking for the shining stars. 

 

The stars appear randomly at various stretches of pathways, both the red carpet and the sidewalk. You either click on them, or walk over them. Doing either means the star vanishes with a sparkle, and there's a brief noise of triumph as the number on your HUD goes up by one. 

After about twenty stars, you can get your first prize. Return to the two givers, and this time click on the one on the right. If you've collected enough stars, you get a small prize. There are at least two more to get as you get more stars. Word has it there's a special prize available once you've collected a hundred.

 

So what is it? Not telling you yet. Get it yourself or wait until after The Birthday is over for me to show you.

 Taken at Club Zero Gravity. Someone showed up with planets, stars, and a cookie orbiting his head. Some, substances, can do that to your head. But feeling light-headed after eating too many sweets can have the same effect too.

A Visit to Inspire Space Park

 

This week, I decided to drop by Inspire Space Park. It's considered a "must-see" area as it's a visual treat with it's sights of what could best be described as a cosmic dream with it's asteroids, planets and stars orbiting all around the planetoid and rocks you're on. It's not a new area, but has been around since 2008. But thirteen years later, the place still looks dazzling. 

We wrote about the place a decade ago. And we wrote about one of the many events there a few years ago. But it's best to see such a place in-avatar. Head on over along or with a friend and just admire things from the platform or hop on a poseball and just drift away in the stellar skies of imagination.

Announcement: This Week At The Science Circle: “The First Stars”

The Universe began in a hot and dense state. After ten minutes or so, the elements had formed, and for the next few hundred thousand years the Universe was filled with hot plasma, expanding and cooling. The Universe was opaque; any light emitted would be scattered or absorbed before it could travel far. Then came a transition, when the Universe went from plasma to neutral gas, and at the same time became transparent. After that were the aptly-named “dark ages”, for nothing was emitting light. Some few hundred million years after that, the very first stars in the Universe formed. None of these stars, we believe, is still around today, and observing their effects (either directly or indirectly) is very challenging. However, a number of observations have told us things about the epoch when stars first formed in our Universe, and it remains a major goal of cosmology to learn more about the nature of these stars.

In this talk, I’ll outline the relevant history of the Universe, and tell you what we know and believe about the very first stars.

Inspire Space Park

One popular space-themed place in Second Life is the Inspire Space Park. A visual treat, people keep dropping by time and time again, sometimes to show friends or bring a date. For those who have yet to see it, Bixyl Shuftan wrote on the park.
