Caledon Oxbridge University Fundraising Party at Club Jor-El

On Saturday Night, February 29, Caledon Oxbridge University held a fundraising party. This wasn't at the University grounds, but high above the sim in a place that looked like it was carved out of ice: Club Jor-El. Cynthia Farshore was the DJ for the event. Instead of taking tips, there was a donation jar "to help support classes, tutorials, and tier" of the institution. "Don't crack the ice," she mused.

Among the songs played were various superhero movie themes, and a few cartoon ones. There was also some chatter about these movies and cartoons, as well as some talk about science fiction, such as the Star Trek Animated Series and the Starfleet Battles board game, which featured a race from the Trek cartoon, the Kzinti, which had the carriers in the game.

Near the end, Andrea Jones (andreajonesms Resident) announced, "This will be the last fundraiser ball for a few months. I think I'm overdoiing them. ... Club Jor-El will be a permanent build. It's too cool to close early." "Even if it is crawling with superheroes?" one guy in a villain costume mused. "I have rebuilt it twice now ... Well, you can't find a villain build." Someone mused that was probably because villains' lairs tended to blow up after the heroes beat the bad guy.

Halloween Party Fundraiser at Caledon Downs

It's late October in Second  Life, and that means Halloween parties. The steampunk-themed community of Caledon recently held two to both relax, and to raise a little money for Caledon Oxbridge University. The second of these was at Cynthia Farshore's Goblin Cave in Caledon Downs. What happened was music, jokes, and lots of fun.

Announcement: Caledon Oxbridge University Fundraiser

The October Halloween Party Fundraiser will be on October the 19th, starting at 7 PM. We are doing the fundraiser a little early in the month to avoid the end of the month crush of October events.  The fundraiser will run roughly 3 hours, finishing sometime close to 10 PM. SLT.  We want everyone to have a chance to pop in as they can.

DJ Cynthia Farshore will be our DJ for the evening at the spooky Halloween sky-box. There we will be dancing and listening to the tunes of Halloween from now and yesteryear. 

The theme is "A Classic Halloween," going back to the early days of Horror. Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, The Wolfman, The Mummy, etc.

The gifts-giver will be active, and there are props for taking selfies, and an attic to explore.

This year we have a two-sided poster provided by Cynthia Farshore and Carl Metropolitan, Thank you both. On Tuesday October the 22nd, starting at 6 PM, we will have a follow-up dance at the Goblin cave in Downs with DJ Piper DJing and Cynthia Farshore hosting. This offers a second chance for those that might not be able to make it on the weekend.

The Caledon Oxbridge University is funded by the donations from resident users like yourself. The majority of the funds donated go to paying the Tier for the region we are in. Any donation is appreciated but donations are not required to be at the events. No cover charge as we want you to come and have a good time. I hope to see all of you there! A Busy Weekend

Quite a bit happened this weekend. The 2019 Winter Burn "Seasonal Perceptions" (pictured above) took place from Friday to Sunday. The Roma community's January festival, Paganalia, took place over Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Caledon Oxbridge University held it's tenth anniversary ball. Sunday had an event at the CDS community at their Venus Cafe. Later in the day, Veterans Isle hosted a benefit concert for Homes For Our Troops.

Announcement: Caledon Oxbridge University Christmas Winter Fundraiser

Greetings, all! The Caledon Oxbridge Universities Christmas Winter fundraiser will be on the 15 th of December!

 On the 15th we will have two dances,  at 1 p.m. SLT and  at 7 p.m. SLT. Ms Cynthia Farshore will be our DJ at both events. We will have random prizes given out at both events. I do hope you can join us as we have 2 hours of music at each event.

More may be added as get closer to the event. Feel free to join us at our fundraiser build constructed by Star for our use. Land and prims donated by Caledonian nights.

Both the main event build and Christmas Park will have donation coins to make it easy to support Caledon Oxbridge, which exists because of public donations that pay its costs.

I have set up for you this year a small park for your enjoyment. It has the Christmas train with multiple sit poses as well as the Christmas Carousel, and along the back of the park are plenty of photo opportunities. You can sit Rudolph, kiss a snowman, stand with carolers, and many more scenes to take your picture in,

Ms Cynthia Farshore is Duchess of Caledon Downs. She has set up Downs as a great place to explore. She has trails, boating, and has several builds for your enjoyment. The "Christmas in August" Fundraiser Party in Caledon

One of the fun things about Second Life is being about to be in a winter wonderland while outside one's house it's the steamy summertime. Late last week in the close of August, Caledon had a "Chiristmas in August" benefit for it's Oxbridge University.  The Newser was there to get a few pictures, and witness some of the antics of the steamlanders and their friends.
