Cartoon of The Day: The Reindeer After Christmas

 

 Taken at Club Zero Gravity. It makes sense that after their trip with Santa, and a little time to rest, the reindeer would celebrate another job well done with a party. But then what? Thinking about it, probably a little happy they have it easy compared to us working stiffs in North America.

Scenes From Christmas Eve With the Sunweavers

 

 Yours truly has been busy getting over a cold and working in RL, as well as finishing a longer article that will be up tomorrow, so I'm a little late in posting a few pictures from Christmas Eve.

 

 Wednesday December 24 from 4-6 was the Christmas party at Club Zero Gravity. DJ Snowbuns came out of her holiday hiatus to play tunes for the two hour set. 

 

 At 6 PM came the Cutlass Christmas Party, and there was a treat: physics balloons. Touching the rezzer would release a bunch over the dance floor. 

 

 Shockwave would play the tunes for this event, and he played some interesting ones.

 

 It was good music with good friends and good chatter. 

 

 

The party would last a bit beyond 8PM, as not everyone here was with family in real-life. 
 

 Following the Christmas parties, I would drop by Calas Galahon Park for a bit with a friend.

Christmas Shop And Hop Starts Today

 

 For those of you who love Christmas shopping, or looking for a good buy and the occasional freebie, good news. The Holiday Shop and Hop, organized by Linden Lab, starts today.

 

The 2025 Holiday Shop & Hop is ... here with 360 participating Creators across 18 shopping regions, bringing you loads of festive fun! Every store will have at least a 20% discount on all items and a free (non-group) gift for shoppers or a gift certificate valued at L$300 or above! 

 

The fun starts today, Friday December 5, at 9AM SL time,  and as the announcement says, there's a lot of territory to cover, 360 stores across 18 sims. Each item will be on sale at least twenty percent, and at least one free gift or a gift certificate worth at least 300 Linden dollars. 

 

To get to the Shop and Hop, check its section in the Destination Guide for the list of sims, teleport to one of the stores from the list on the bottom three-fifths of the Holiday Events blog page, or just jump right in at Gleaming (128/128/54). 

 

For those shopping after Christmas, the event goes on to Sunday January 4 2026.

Press Release: Bay City's Annual Tree Lighting And Fundraising Concert

 

BAY CITY, SL (2 December 2025) -  Celebrate the holidays once again as the Bay City Alliance hosts its annual Tree Lighting event on the 7th of December, 2025, from 1-4 pm SLT, at the Bay City Fairgrounds, in North Channel ( http://slurl.com/secondlife/North%20Channel/128/128/24/ ). 

DJ GoSpeed of KONA Stream will start off the event, followed by crowd favorites  AleyKat (Aleylia Resident) and Maximillion Kleene. In addition to the music, the event will also feature ice-skating, dancing, and refreshments.

As part of the event, a silent auction supporting Child's Play Charity (www.childsplaycharity.org) will be held. Bay City has supported Child’s Play through the holidays for many years, and is very happy to continue this partnership.

Dozens of items will be available including one-of-a-kind art, vehicles from top Second Life creators, home furnishings, gift cards, and much more.

Additional Second Life® designers and artists who wish to participate by providing fun, interesting, unique, or other transferrable items (or a no-copy object that the auction winner can give to you to redeem their prize, if the item(s) have to be no transfer) may contact ThomasHooker Resident to participate.

Auction will end at the conclusion of the event. All proceeds from the silent auction and from donation bins at the venue will go to Child's Play Charity. Child's Play is a 501c3 non profit organization offers online communities such as ours an opportunity to help seriously ill children around the globe during their hospital stays with the purchase of games and gaming equipment. 

Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab® and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest group for Residents of Bay City.

Christmas Expo Begins

 

 

The Christmas Expo is on. This fundraiser for the American Cancer Society is taking place across ten sims next to the sim of the same name. 

 

There's plenty of scenery, dozens of shops, auctions, contests such as snowman building, and music and dance events such as the one pictured above.

Tex Tree Farm

 

Gemma Cleanslate's search for Christmas-themed places took her to one that touches on an old-fashioned tradition, chopping your own tree. This was at the Tex Tree Farm, owned by Peppermint Twinkles. There, one can chose what kind of tree to take home, drop by The Glacier Restaurant for a meal or drink, and drop by the Red Barn for Christmas decor.

Getting Ready For The Expo

 

Picture taken at the west border of the American Cancer Society sim. The Relay for Life volunteer group is preparing for the Second Life Christmas Expo. Starting on Friday November 28 (the day after Thanksgiving), there will be events, music, scenery, and shopping across nine sims. 

 

As one can see from the picture, the Relayers have set up some good scenery, but they're not quite finished yet. And for now the sims are still closed to most.

EOTB: Call For Merchants For Christmas Shop And Hop, Ends November 2

 

It's not even Halloween, and already Linden Lab is getting ready for Christmas. Yesterday on the official blog, the Lab announced they were accepting applications for those wanting shops in the 2025 Holiday Shop and Hop.

 

 Halloween may still be spookily lingering, but we’re already brewing up plans for the festive season! We’re excited to announce the return of our highly anticipated Holiday Shop & Hop event. Mark your calendars for a spectacular shopping extravaganza starting on December 5th, 2025, and running through January 4th, 2026. Get ready for a festive shopping experience like no other!

 

 Those merchants interested need to fill out a form on Google Docs (here). The following conditions apply:

 

* Merchants are required to provide a NEW non-group gift.
* Merchants are required to have at least a 20% discount on ALL items present at the Shop and Hop location.
* Items need to be appropriate for a moderate audience and adhere to the Linden Lab ToS.
* Content should not contain or reference political issues or figures.
* All items displayed and/or advertised in the Shop and Hop store MUST be for sale at the Shop and Hop for the duration of the event. This means you can not use the Shop and Hop to promote items for sale at other events. 

 

The setup period is Nov 5 to Dec 1, and merchants will be asked what they sell the most of and it is reminding that applying does not guarantee a spot.

 

The Lab would remind people that the Halloween Shop and Hop is still going on, and invite people to check it out.

Ghost of Christmas Past - The Xmas Tree That Won't Stay Packed Away

 

Taken at the Newser office in HV Community. No, this isn't Christmas in July. In December, we at the Newser put up some Christmas decorations, including a few trees, this one going on the ground floor. And in January, they were picked up. But there was one small problem. The ground floor Christmas tree returned. 

 

We kept trying to pick it up, and it kept reappearing. It was as if the Ghost of Christmas past was determined to haunt our office. 

 

So the tree remains, for now. Maybe one day when we try to pick it up, it will stay picked up.

 With the holiday hustle and bustle, sometimes one forgets something until a few days have passed. In this case, yours truly forgot to put up the picture of the Christmas decor, a tree and some presents with St. Nick, Gemma Cleanslate put up at the Newser office in HV Community.

Longtime readers will recognize the Second Life Cheerleading Squad, or SLCS as one of the Relay for Life's major teams, year after year. But they aren't just up and about on Relay season. Christmas is almost here, and we at the Newser have been busy. But, we have enough time to squeeze in one more Christmas article before Santa makes his rounds. At The River, there's a cute tribute to a classic made for TV Christmas special, "The Land of Misfit Toys." So our editor dropped by for a look.

"Twisted Christmas" at The Happy Vixen

 

 

On Thursday December 19, the Happy Vixen held what's become an annual tradition for the little beach club, it's "Twisted Christmas" event. At Noon, club owner Nydia Tungsten herself took the stream as DJ Naughty Nydia.

We're ALL tired of the same old Christmas songs they have been shoving down our throats since BEFORE Halloween! So lets all tell them where they can shove their sappy 3 month holiday by screwing with it! Come on down to THV and check out this irreverent set! So grab yer Hoe hoe hoes hop in the slay and drop by for a laugh!

And as everyone who has been at a "Naughty Nydia" set knows, her Christmas tunes range from mild to wild to "Oh, Emm, Gee!" There were tunes such as "Christmas at Ground Zero," "The Night Santa Went Crazy," and some I can't even mention the titles here.

But that wasn't all for the Happy Vixen that day. Later on at 6PM, DJ Charlee would do her own set with her own Christmas tunes. Some were conventional. Others such as "Down With The Christmas" weren't.

 

The Happy Vixen is at Purrfection Estates (236, 219, 24) and has several events each week.
