Club Squeaks Closing It's Doors (Additional Info)

Earlier this month, Brandi Streusel announced on her Discord that she was having to stop her music parties at Club Squeaks.

"Due to my new job promotion, I will not be able to do my morning sets at Club Squeaks anymore. I am going to miss everyone!"

Earlier, Brandi had told people at the club that she would be having to stop the events soon.

"Feels like I've let my fans down," Brandi would say, "I was hoping it wouldn't come to this. But, such is real-life."

But this doesn't mean the end of all of Brandi's DJ sets. She still plays at Club Balance on Friday evenings from 7 to 9 PM SL time.

Club Squeaks was a small club high above Pacific Waters in the Sunweaver community. Set in a skybox, the official entrance was inside a man-sized live trap. It attracted a crowd of both American and Canadian early-risers and Europeans. There was a foam machine which resulted in occasional antics. Brandi was able to play music during her tech support job, so she was able to get online and do music for a crowd. But her promotion means that isn't an option, at least for now.

Hopefully the club will be back soon,

*Addition* As it turns out, this wasn't a true closure. The club will still be playing on the few mornings Brandi doesn't have to work in real-life.

The White Vixen Enterprise's Halloween Bash

Sunday October 29 was the night of the White Vixen Enterprises Halloween party. Originally planned for 6PM SL time, it was decided to start the party a little early, partly so it could last longer and partily for those who had to be elsewhere then. The party was held at a special Halloween area near Nydia's home, Mouse Hole Manor, in Pacific Waters.

Nydia, the owner and head of WVE, which runs the Happy Vixen and the Purfection sim, was the DJ for the occasion. She had gotten her start as DJ "Naughty Nydia" years ago.

A number showed up in costume. There was a prize of 3000 Lindens for the occasion. It was split between three winners. As it turned out, so many tried to attend after these pictures were taken, the sim was soon full and people couldn't get in. Nydia would later say this would be the last major event planned in her home sim. Further ones will be in a full sim elsewhere.

Club Squeaks

Are you looking for a club to listen to good music and chat with good people, but you're unable to get on Second Life during the times most clubs have their parties? Or perhaps you have the day off, and are looking to spend the time dancing to some tunes in the late morning. Then you may want to check out a small but promising new club: Club Squeaks, by Brandi Streusel.

Mouse Hole Manor Is Back

In February, Mouse Hole Manor, the home of Nydia Tungsten and her partner Brandi Streusel, was taken down. In place of the castle, which had been up for some years, went a more modern home that was up for a few months until it came down when Nydia and Cynthia Farshore exchanged sims. In Pacific Waters, Nydia had a smaller home on an island for a time. But this week, she and Brandi made the decision to bring back the Manor.

"Well, we have been talking about it," Nydia told the Newser, "We kept having problems with the other ones. Now we are finding out a lot of others missed it as well, and the phrase 'Local Icon' kept kicking around in the back of my head. But most of all, we feel, this is home."

Nydia is still setting things up, so anyone dropping by in the next few days will see some bare rooms. While nothing is set in stone, except perhaps for the castle walls, there will be some differences between Mouse Hole Manor now and from it's previous days. It's days as a place for business and planning meetings for the Angels group are pretty much over as those are done in the nearby office building in the southeastern part of Pacific Waters. The theater had been removed to make the "Float-In Theater" to the east. What there will be more of are games for Nydia, Brandi, and her friends, such as "Greedy." The island the Manor sits on has more trees on it, thinly wooded. Nydia says the place will be likely be the setting for special event such as weddings in the future. For now though, Nydia is happy to have her castle back, "Feels like home."

More On The Sunweaver Estates Expansion And Other Changes

It's been an active time in the Sunweaver Estates. Last weekend, the place got two new homestead sims, making for a total of ten sims in the main area of the Sunweaver/Angel sims (there are twelve overall). On top of two sims added in August and two sims changing hands, this has meant lots of changes. The Newser went around taking a few pictures and talking to a few people about the new sims and new looks. And the building and rebuilding isn't finished yet.

Open House at Sunlight Bay

Yesterday at Sunlight Bay, Cynthia Farshore had an "Open House" party at the newly remodeled Goblin Cave. The party was a small one to celebrate the sim being officially open for business.

It was a little more than a month ago that Cynthia and Nydia Tungsten agreed to switch their ownerships of the sims Sunlight Bay and Pacific Waters. Although the renovations are not yet complete, the Farshore Field airfield is ready for use, the shop at the northeast corner of the sim is ready for business, and the Goblin Cave where Farshore Radio makes it's home is ready for events.

At Pacific Waters, Nydia now has a manor where her friends can hang out, a "float-in" theater on the water, and and office building for White Vixen Enterprises, which controls the Angel community sims and the Happy Vixen and Zero Gravity clubs.

Cynthia Farshore is planning a larger celebration in a couple weeks, a birthday party for Dusk Griswold. In the meantime, her shop has a number of goods, including some outfits from Zan's Clothing.

A Double Sim Move in the Sunweaver Estates

Changes are coming to the Newser's neighborhood, the Sunweaver Estates. Two major landowners, Cynthia Farshore and Nydia Tungsten, will be swapping sims and moving their structures of Farshore Field Airport and Mouse Hole Manor. I had a few words with both Cynthia and Nydia about the move. While moving the properties is a lot of work, there are reasons for it. Plus, the moving and reconstruction allows for some new possibilities.

RFL Team Sunbeamer Celebration Party

Sunday July 23 was the day of Relay for Life team Sunbeamer's celebration party. The event took place from 6PM to about 8PM SL time at the Goblin Cave in the Pacific Waters sim, east of the Farshore Field airport. The occasion was to celebrate the team's successes, notably Platinum rank fundraising and winning an award for the campsite design.

Cynthia Farshore played the tunes for the party. During the time, the people joked and talked about old times. There was talk about making a try for Jade level next year, which would require raising an additional 300,000 Linden dollars. The idea was thought highly ambitious, but doable, mostly likely with a few joint events with teams such as Meli's Maniacs and the Steelheaders.

We were "the little team that could," and did over and over again. This next time, we would be setting out sights a little higher.

Scenes From The Steampunk Land and Sky Race

Last weekend on Sunday June 25, the Sunbeamer team, the RFL team of the Newser office neighbors the Sunweaver community, held an ambitious event for the Relay. They held a steampunk-themed racing event taking place not just on the ground but in the air. Team Meli's Maniacs also took part, and a number of people came for the races and the music and dance party that took place afterwards. It was a fun event with lots to do and see. It was also the most successful event Team Sunbeamers ever had, getting over 154,000 Linden dollars for them and bringing the team into Platinum Level.

The RFL Fourth Annual Farshore Field Air Show

Last weekend on Saturday May 20, the Sunweaver community held their yearly air show, the Fourth Annual Team Sunbeamer Farshore Field Air Show and Fly-In. The event raised some money for the community's Relay for Life team, but the point was to have fun, whether flying around, going about an airborne obstacle course in a blimp, or parachuting after being shot out of a cannon.

Quite a lot happened this weekend in Second Life. Sunday May 21 was the Ninth Annual Bay City Anniversary Celebration with it's parade (above) and party. Among the other events going on, the Relay for Life Fourth Annual Farshore Field Air Show took place in Pacific Waters on Saturday May 20, the RFL Home and Garden Expo opened on Friday May 19, and more.

We'll report more on these and other happenings later, but we at the Newser need to rest a little first.

Reminder: Sunbeamer Air Show and Bay City Anniversary

There's two big events this weekend in Second Life. On Saturday is the Fourth Annual Farshore Field Air Show Fly-in at the Pacific Waters sim. This Relay event is a must for airplane fans. Among the attractions, a dunking booth in which instead of tennis balls, you fire a German 88 to knock volunteers into the water. Launch yourself, or your friends, out of an air cannon. Bring your own warplanes and duke it out in a dogfight. Or just use the plane rezzer (above) and use those. Jessicabelle Dayafter recently installed a new and improved one with two more planes.

The event takes place Saturday from 8AM to 4PM at Pacific Waters (51/86/31) For more information, contact Cynthia Farshore.

Sunday's big event is the Ninth Annual Bay City Anniversary. Starting off with a parade, the line of people heads to the North Channel sim where the party begins, with both DJs and live music. For questions, contact Marianne McCann.

Newser Post-Holiday Party

On Sunday January 22 at Noon, a party was held for the staff of the Second Life Newser and it's neighbors and friends. Nydia Tungsten, who got her start in Second Life as DJ "Naughty" Nydia, played the tunes for the event, though most. The event took place in Cynthia Farshore's Goblin Cave in Pacific Waters.

Over a course of three hours, a few dozen people dropped by, including Any1 Gynoid, who was a writer early in the Newser's history, Breezes Babi, whom was with the Newser's predecessor paper the Second Life Newspaper, and Trader and Arizona Whiplash of T-1 Radio.

There was much to celebrate as the Newser had a successful year covering events in Second Life with over a thousand articles, briefs, cartoons, and other posts. There was even more to celebrate as it turned out December had our highest readership of any month: 45,000 readers. We would also be getting another sponsor that day, the Indian Wilds Wild West Roleplay.

We're looking forward to another successful year.

Scenes From New Year's Eve 2016

On the night of December 31, Second Life bade farewell, or cursed good-riddance, to 2016, and rang in the new year of 2017. Different communities and locations had their own parties and celebrations.  From the Sunweaver's Goblin Cave, to the Furry Fashion Lounge's "Lem n' Ems" event, to the "Prim Drop" in Bay City, there were plenty of events.
