Press Release: Halloween Writing Contest in Trotsdale

It is time once again for a writing contest with the Intersim Library Network. This is open to everyone within Second Life. If you are coming to us via the forum or website first, then please join Second Life in order to be able to receive your prize if you are chosen as a winner.

Suggested Theme: Halloween, Spooky, Harvest, or anything appropriate to this time of year.

Suggested Length: 2,000 word maximum

What: Poetry or short story

Deadline: Oct 31, 2016

Number of submissions: up to 3 per person!

How to submit:

What we are looking for:
Please no one liners. We will be judging on structure, recognizable characters, dialog, setting, tone, style, and point of view. It is suggested that you also have proof read and edited your submission(s) before turning them in. All submissions must be suitable for PG 13.

Prize:
Starting pool: 615$L
The amount of $Lindens to be distributed will depend on what is in the prize pool. Hanaarashi Resident will be the holder of the funds. To contribute to the prize pool you can send $L to Hanaarashi Resident, or tip the jar at the dropsites by the submission boxes. If you'd like to donate an item prize (ex: shop gift card) for this or future contests then please send a note to me on this forum, or to Amehana Ishtari (Amehana Arashi) on Second Life. There were 115$L build up in the account from percentages of sales I send there (this way I make sure I donate bit by bit on top of other donations) and I dropped another 500$L in to start the pool well.

People's Choice Award - After the close of the submission period Amehana will make sure that all entries (both via forum and SL notecard) are posted in this thread. A poll will then be set up to allow the People to choose their favorite entry.

Judge's Choice Award - After the close of the submission period Amehana will ensure that all chosen fellow judges have access to all the stories. Judging deadline is yet to be set. Judges will then give their vote as to who they feel the winner should be.

Press Release: Trotsdale Library Horror Writing Contest

It is time once again for a writing contest with the Trotsdale Library. This is open to everyone.

Theme: Horror

Length: Shorts

Deadline: Oct 31, 2015

Number of submissions: up to 3!

What we are looking for:
Please no one liners. We will be judging on structure, recognizable characters, dialog, setting, tone, style, and point of view. It is suggested that you also have proof read and edited your submission(s) before turning them in. Nothing hugely graphic. Great gouts of blood does not a horror story make, that's called a mess.

Prize: You will get to pick your favorite library reader to read your winning entry. Depending on the reader there may be a wait list as some can only read at certain times and some must prerecord. There is also a donation pile on the table in the Trotsdale Library where community members can contribute to a $L prize pool to also go to the winner. The total has been reset for the new contest as last contest's prizes have already gone out.

Number of winners: Only one this time.

Where to submit: There will be boxes in the usual places: The Trotsdale Library, and one over in the ASA parcel.

Press Release: Cross-Group Halloween/Harvest Photo Contest

Kino Moonites from Astral Sector Alpha (the Astrids) and Project Catfort is running an SL photography contest. This is a cross-group contest in return for the cross-group writing contests the Trotsdale Library has headed in the past.

Theme: Halloween/Harvest
Picture Location: Anywhere, so long as it fits the theme.
Deadline: Midnight EST October 30, or 9 PM SLT October 30

All submissions will be displayed in the ASA art gallery in Computer. There will be prizes for the top three. Prizes have not yet been determined.

To enter: Put your photo submissions in a notecard with your name and statement that they are for the photo contest. Title the notecard "Your Legacy Name _ Halloween/Harvest Photo Contest". Send the note card at full perms to Amehana Ishtari or Kino Moonites, or put it in a drop box in the Ibexian Library building in the Ibex Empire sim, Exmoor's coffee house, the ASA/Catfort Gallery, or the Trotsdale Library building in Trotsdale if you're worried that the notecard will be lost or not received. Likewise there will be a dropbox in the ASA gallery. Amehana will deliver the Dropboxes to Kino Moonites when it is time to collect the cards.
