Looking Foxy in World of Warcraft

Last month, I mentioned I was on my way to getting a Vulpera character in the World of Warcraft MMO. Well, finally last week, I met the requirements, and did the questline in which my demon hunter and a few of the foxfolk helped out the Horde with a few problems, notably a peon strike, and afterwards were welcomed by Warchief Baine as members of the Horde. So finally that one friend of mine who's been egging me on now has a new foxy teammate. Since Vulpera had been going about making the best of what the desert had to offer, perhaps it might be appropriate for one to try and make the elements work for him. Not to mention earth magic "rocks." So I made my first one a shaman.

So what now? I'll probably be too busy for the next month covering the rest of the Relay season and the Second Life Birthday to spend too much time in Warcraft. Still, it's nice to know I can now be foxy in Azeroth as well as Second Life. Not that being a Tauren, Worgen, or Pandaren was so bad.

As Nydia would say, "good gaming to you."

World of Warcraft: Quest For Vulpera

So what do Second Life residents do when they're not playing Second Life? Many of my friends play online games. And recently a new playable race has gotten the attention of some on World of Warcraft, to play as a foxlike Vulpera. So how can one be a fox in Warcraft as well as in Second Life? Well, it's not easy, and yours truly is only partially there.

RFL Team Sunbeamers Hit Sapphire Level

It was a great weekend for the Relay for Life in Second Life's Team Sunbeamers. Friday June 15 was the close of two "Bid Me" events run by the team, "Bid Me Foxy" in which Cynthia Farshore was putting her anthro goat avatar on the line, and "Bid Me Goat" in which Shockwave Yareach did the same with his wolf avatar. At Club Cutlass at 8PM following the party there, the amounts raised on the kiosks were made final, Rita announcing the results:

Beamers:  here are the results of the 2 BID MEs that ended tonight.

Cynthia Farshore:
Stay Goat:             12,900L
Go Foxy;                 24144L

She goes Foxy for 12 WEEKS!

Shockwave Yareach:
Stay Wolf:                 1050 L
Go Goat:                    24100 L

He goes Goat for 12 Weeks!

Cynthia took the change more or less in stride, when changing into a vixen having a chicken in her mouth, later saying, "Between the kiosk of Shocky and I, we racked up L$62,244." Shockwave posted on Facebook, "I was on the BidMe for Relay For Life. Every 2K$ put in, I'm a Goat for a week. I'm now gonna be a Goat for... 12 Weeks. Holy..."

The following day, Saturday June 16, was the Farshore Field Air Show. It was widely expected that the team would get to the coveted half million Linden dollar mark. And before the event was over, it did. The Sunbeamers passed 500,000 Lindens, and achieved Sapphire fundraising rank. For the second time this season, the team had achieved a rank they never had before.

The last time The Sunbeamers reached this amount of cash, I went in a female avatar for a week. But with me pantsless most of the time thanks to a previous Bid Me event,  I wasn't in the mood for something so drastic this time. So when one of my teammates was saying she'd go purple for two weeks if the team reached Sapphire, I offered to take one of them. But team captain Rita Mariner and teammates Dusk Griswold, and Skylark Lefavre also went purple that day.

So what next? There is a joint event with the Meli's Maniacs team being planned. And of course there is the Relay Weekend and the Sunbeamer camp build next month. For now, once again the "Little team that could" is taking pride that once again it's proved itself a top fundraiser among the Relay teams.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!

Taken at the Fantasy Faire pool party. Guys are always talking about landing a "foxy girl." But looks like this vixen isn't going for it.

"Fox Avatar Challenge" Results

And the totals for the kiosks of Team Sunbeamers' "Fox Avatar Challenge" are in. Three avatars got almost all the cash. The default, or "Stay a Lusk," received 2716 Lindens. The skunk avatar had 1810 Lindens donated to it. And the wiener, er, winner, is the Tokushi mesh tiny fox avatar. With a total of 7676 Lindens raised, looks like yours truly will be having a higher pitched voice than normal for eight days.

And no, that rumor of me being PrettyKitty Gumbo's hairpiece after her "Bid Me Bald" next Wednesday isn't true.

Stay tuned for more events from Team Sunbeamers.

Two More Days For the Fox Avatar Challenge

Today and tomorrow are the last days for the "Fox Avatar Challenge," the Relay For Life's Team Sunbeamer's answer to the "Bid Me Bald" events by other teams, Such as the Relay Rockers, and your chance to make your favorite "Fox Reporter" into another fox avatar for a certain amount of time, depending on how much gets donated (5000 Linden dollars for one week, and each additional 2000 Lindens getting another day), and which choice of avatar the winning kiosk is.

The kiosks are in the lobby of Club Cutlass, at Sunweaver Bay (114/122/157).

"Bid Me (Another) Foxy" - The Fox Avatar Challenge

Some of you may remember the "Bid Me Human" event I did for the Relay for Life a few years ago, a twist on the "Bid Me Bald" events a number of Relayers have done, notably Trader Whiplash. There have been other variants of the fundraiser, such as the "Bid Me Blond" by the Builders Brewery. And now it's time for me to step up for another challenge.

While it was suggested that I do another event for the human avatar again, my thoughts turned to another matter. Over time a few people have been telling me I need to update my Fox avatar from the Luskwood, which I've had since 2007, saying it's too old. While I've gotten my hands on a few other fox avatars over time, either as freebies, gifts, or the mesh tiny and micro foxes I got on my own, I've stuck with the tried and true Lusk as my main appearance.

So talking things over with a few people, I came up with a way to give those who think I need a new look a chance to put me in one, at least for a little while: The Team Sunbeamer Fox Avatar Challenge.

Sunnies/Beamers!  Bixyl has put himself up for BID ME Auction,  you have a choice of 6 different foxes and one skunk, you can BID Bixyl into.  You will find the Kiosks in the lounge area of Club Cut;lass.  Of course Highest Bid wins, you might even get a dance from the charming fox himself ...  So come on over anytime and place a bid.  Bidding will run till end on April, so plenty of time.  Length of time he stays in new form depends on how much you BID!  All donations go to RFL

At the lobby in Club Cutlass (the room behind the dance floor and DJ booth), seven Relay kiosks have been set up. One is the default or "Keep Bixyl Lusk." Five each represent a different red fox avatar, the Wingless, the AnthroXtacy (more often called AX), the Aventity, the Tokushi mesh tiny, and the Curious Fox Mod (which is a modified Uchi Chinchilla avatar). To make things interesting, the seventh kiosk is to bid me a skunk, of which the critter has been associated with the past with "Stinky the Skunk", "Skunk Aid", and "Bid Me Skunky" events.

To chose a particular avatar, just go to the kiosk with it's picture and make a donation. The kiosks will stay up until Saturday April 23, when the results are totaled at 8PM. The winning kiosk will determine which look I'll have for a while, with the time period determined by how much was donated in all seven. For the first 5,000 Lindens raised, it's a week with the new look, with another day for each additional 2K. There are two stipulations. First, the challenge can go on only up to the Relay Weekend. Second, as yours truly is a reporter in Second Life, that means I may go back to normal at times (especially if the tiny avatar wins) in order to carry out my duties. But otherwise I'm stuck with the new look, at least until the challenge ends.

So come on over and make a donation to Team Sunbeamer's fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. If you'd rather I stay in my tried and true look, donate to the "Keep Bixyl a Lusk" kiosk. If you want to see a change for a while, drop some Lindens in one of the other six kiosks.

Go Relay!

Pooped Fox

Pooped Fox

Yours truly has been pretty busy both getting the news and getting ready for Christmas in real life. And finally the need for sleep caught up before I could finish the additions to "Events This Week." I'll add a few more events later today.

This punch line of this kind of encounter was used several years ago in Second Life Newspaper, but couldn't resist. ;-)
