Veterans Isle Benefit Raises Over 100,000 Lindens

On Wednesday April 5, Veterans Isle would hold it's monthly benefit concert. The event, organized in part by Frets Nirvana and assisted by Bri McMahon, was to raise money to keep homes over the homes of wounded veterans. It took place from 4PM to 9PM SL time (Midnight EST) in a building high above the sim.

We are holding our April benefit for Homes For Our Troops tonight.  .Luna Phoenix is giving it her all nownow and next up is the ever creative  Neomaximus at 6 PM! What a great night of music for this cause!

Here is the rest of tonights lineup:
Luna Phoenix 5 PM
Neomaximus 6 PM
Tone Uriza 7 PM
Wolfie Syarfire 8 PM

Come on out and help us support our extremely injured veterans through Homes for Our Troops.  Remember the freedom we all have as a result of these sacrifices and support Homes For Our Troops.

DJ Jack Friller started things off at 4PM. At 5, Luna Phoenix took to the stage. Neomaximus had his turn at 6. At 7 it was Tone Uriza's turn to perform for the audience. Last but not least was Wolfie Starfire at 8PM.

As the musicians played their tunes, the crowd donated to two house-shaped kiosk on either side of the stage. On occasion, Frets would challenge the audience to donate a certain amount, promising to match it, "let's all pull together and give $60 to our extremely injured veterans  by adding 15000 linden to those kiosks in the next 15 minutes, and I will add another 5k when we do."

By the end of the event, a total of 106,240 Linden dollars had been raised.

Pastor Dan's Talent Show

Have you ever heard professional singers in a music video or on stage and think "I can do just as good." Or maybe people have kept saying you can do just as good. Well, recently in Second Life, someone gave five women a chance to do just that. Each sang on stage in front of an audience and three judges. Besides seeing the performance, I had a chance to talk to the man who organized it, PastorDanT Resident.

Jaycatt and Frogg's Tenth Anniversary

Almost but not quite forgotten, while the Relayers were busy walking the track last Saturday July 18th, one of Second Life's best known musical duos was celebrating their tenth anniversary as singers. Jaycatt Nico and Frogg Marlow, whom the Newser recently interviewed, did a special performance at their venue in Lingmell.

At their skybox theater straddling two sims over 270 meters in the air, "Effinjay," as the two are called sometimes, performed for a sizable crowd. This would be the fourth and main performance of theirs this week.

Jaycatt will be away on real-life business next week, though Frogg will be giving two solo performances.

Jaycatt Nico and Frogg Marlowe

Second Life has a number of musicians. But not many have been performing here for ten years. Two who have are Jaycatt Nico and Frogg Marlowe. Also known as Jaycatt and Frogg and "Effinjay," the two have performed across various venues around the grid for the past decade, this week marking the tenth anniversary of their first performance. Recently, they took a little time for an interview with Second Life Newser, where they talked about how they found Second Life, how they got started, and other details.
