Whatever Happened to ... ? Club Fur

Readers may have noticed that Club Fur, on the record as the oldest furry-themed clubs, is no longer on the Newser's SL Clubbin' schedule. The reason is, not only is it inactive, it is no longer part of the Sunweaver Estates, which provides the land for the paper's office, or anywhere else in Second Life. Club Fur has been removed and back in the inventory of Alynna Vixen (Alynna O'onthrera Trypnotk). And Alynna hasn't been inworld since May.

Club Fur has had an interesting history, going back to 2004 according to Alynna. At one point it was described as being removed from an old location less than two minutes before the place was "flattened." It was in Furnation for a time before it ended up in Alynna's hands in 2009, whom eventually took it to Kitsuhana sim where it was reopened in November 2010. In June 2013, the club moved back to Furnation following the reopening of the sim. But in November 2014, Alynna brought the club to the Sunweaver sim of Sunweaver Bay, soon moving to to Sunny Beach where it would remain for a little while until Alynna's items were packed away earlier this year.

The club was known for it's bright neon colors, it's symbol was a neon tube shaped into a cat's head. During it's time in Kitsuhana, there was an effort to make the club active by the "Furry Club Alliance," but the stepping down of a few personnel made regular events just too difficult. It did take part in some events such as when the world failed to end on December 21, 2012. The club was also duplicated in InWorldz for a time.

While there is of course the possibility the club will come back, when something vanishes in Second Life, more often than not it's for good. While it's sad when any club vanishes, it's especially so in this case as this one had lasted so long, and for a time was part of the community yours truly calls home.

It's another week of events at the Sunweaver Clubs. At the Happy Vixen, it's a Relay for Life tribute to the Sunweaver's beloved pink fox, the late Artistic Fimicloud. Next, it's a "birthday bash" as Nydia has her birthday party in Second Life. Finally, it's a case of hospital hilarity as they have their "Doctors and Nurses." At Club Cutlass, things go "Overboard" with "Best in O."

While the Second Life Birthday is the big event this week, the Sunweaver clubs are still having their events. At Club Cutlass, it's a "Night" for a "Nice" time as the club has it's "Best in N." Then things get a little flighty with "Take Wing," and the club ends the week on a dark note as they have their "Blackest Black." At the Happy Vixen, the beach club starts things off with a night of good and evil with "Angels and Demons." Then things get a little on the skimpy side with "Dare to Bare." And finally it's time for the towels and suntan oil as the club ends things with it's "Beach Party."

It's an exciting week of events at the Sunweaver Clubs as the days tick down to the end of spring and the beginning of Summer. At the Happy Vixen, the beach club gets thrown to the wolves as the dancers are the wolves in "Wolf Night" Then things get a little on the light side as the club has it's "Best in White." Then it's time for the equines, ponies, and other hooves avatars to show their stuff in "Hoof It." At Club Cutlass, things get "Marvelous" and "Macho" as they have their "Best in M."

It's another week of events at the Sunweaver clubs. At the Happy Vixen, things get a little "hare-raising" and sly as they have their "Bunnies and Foxes." Then they go on the prowl with "Tigers," and finally get a little colorful with "Rainbow Colors." At Club Cutlass, It's an event of "Love" and "Laughter" as they have their "Best in L." Then it's a color-coded night where one might find a date as they have their "Stoplight." Finally the club closes the week on a cartoony note with "Toon Time."

It's a whole week of events at the Sunweaver Clubs as May ends and June begins. The Happy Vixen starts things off with it's Grand Reopening Party. Later on, they get a little upper class with the "Royal Ball," and a little on the frisky side with "Leather and Lace." At Club Cutlass, the music has a little "kick" and things get a little "krazy" as they have their "Best in K." On Friday, it's a tribute to Hollywood as the club goes "At the Movies."

May will soon be over, but before we fire up the barbecue for Memorial Day, there's some dancing to be done at the Sunweaver Clubs. At Club Cutlass, things get a little "jumpy" and "jive" with "Best in J." Then our bunny chieftess gets a bit of the Devil in her with "Good vs Evil." And they end their week with a tribute to Memorial Day with "Veterans." At the Happy Vixen, the energetic DJ Tantari brings out her "Vixens of science" track for "Science." Then it's time for purple robes, fancy gowns, and powdered wigs as it's time for the "Royal Ball." And finally things get a little daring as the club has it's "Leather and Lace."

It's another week of events at the Cutlass Clubs. At the Happy Vixen, things get a little on the cybernetic side as DJ Tantari shows some "Digital Love." Then things take a turn back to the 60s as DJ Suri is showing her "New Age." And finally the club turns back the clock further to the time of cowboys and badmen as DJ Applebloom sets off for the "Wild Wild West." At Club Cutlass, things get a little "Inspirational" and "Incredible" with "Best in I." Then things get a little bubblegum with "Pure Pink." Finally, the place gets a little "hare-raising" with "Bunnies and Foxes."

At the Happy Vixen, things get a little steamy with "Victorian/Steampunk," followed by a little fun with "game night," and a little whitewashing with "Best in White."

It's the first week of the month of May, and another exciting week of events at the Sunweaver Clubs. At the Happy Vixen, It's "hats off" to the crowd as they have their "Silly Hats" night, followed by the funny side of medicine with "Hospital Hilarity, and ending the week with going to the dogs with "Canines and Canids." At Club Cutlass, it's a "Great" and "Grand" time as they hold their "Best in G," followed by having a ball with "Sports Night," and they end the week with a look back at the era of Reagan and Rubiks' cubes with "The 80s."

It's the last week of April, but the Cutlass clubs still have some exciting events to dance to before this month's showers turn to May flowers. At Club Cutlass, things are "Fine" and "Fantastic" as they have their "Best in F." Then they sing the Blues as they have their "Best in Blue." And the club ends the week (and the month) as the April showers let up with "Fun in the Sun." At the Happy Vixen, they hold a tribute to Prince who passed away last week with "Best in Purple. Then things are a little on the skimpy side with "Dare to Bare." And finally the place "toons in" to "Cartoons and Anime. And now the club has a new night for events, on Mondays, when "The Dazzlecat DJ," DJ Khyra, spins her tunage.

Then it's with the suits and gowns with the "Formal Night," and the club ends the week on a sci-fi note with "Spaced Out." At the Happy Vixen, they "hop to it" with "Bunnies," followed by a little "cat and mouse" with "Predator and Prey," and finally they "sing the blues" with "Best in Blue."

It's another week of events at the Sunweaver Clubs. The Happy Vixen is now expanding it's number of events per week from three to four. Tuesday they're having a formal dance with DJ Tantari, then DJ Traveler horses around with her "Best in Hooves." On Thursday, DJ Surispirit does a little cat and mouse with her "Cats, Mice, and Foxes," then it's the sweet smell of success as DJ Rose does "Best in Skunks." At Club Cutlass, things are "delightful" and "dandy" as they have their "Best in D," followed by an event a little on the earthy side with "Brown and Tan," and the club ends the week for those "workin' on the weekend" with "At Work."

Then things take a trip to the 60s with "Flower Power." And finally the silver ball gets a little work as the folks get their polyester suits with "Disco."

It's another exciting week of events at the Sunweaver clubs. At club Cutlass, on Wednesday, things get a bit monochrome with "Black and White." This is followed by "Best in B" on Friday with DJ Crim, and on Saturday it's a turn for the worst with "We Bad." And for the first time in a few years, the Sunday dances are back, this Sunday being, "Mardi Gras." At the Happy Vixen, on Tuesday it's "Beyond the Sea" with the energetic DJ Tantari. On Thursday the action gets a little fierce with "Tigers," followed up by a little "hooving it" with "The Herd."

Following that they get the suits and dresses with "Formal Dance," and end the week with "Blue and Purple." At the Happy Vixen, it's a tribute to "Zootopia's" Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde with "Bunnies and Foxes." Then comes "Paint it Purple," and finally the club gets their swimming trunks and bikinis with a "Beach Party."

Next the place gets "tooned in" with "Cartoons and Anime." Finally, the place gets a touch of burlesque with "pasties." At Club Cutlass, we wonder what wildness will wistfully happen as the place has it's "Best in W" event. On Friday, things get a little militant with "Warzone." And they end the week with a little zipping around the track with "Roller Skates."

At the Happy Vixen, the energetic DJ Tantari starts it's week with a little flight time with "Best in Wings." Then comes an event on the techy side, with "Cyberpunk." DJ Rose closes the club's week with an event of which we will be "brief" in describing with "Boxers and Panties."
