Multiverse "Jail and Bail" Raises "Over 25,000" Linden Dollars For Parkinsons

Yesterday. Tuesday November 4, was the final day of the Multiverse Fair, a Halloween-themed major fundraiser for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which funds Parkinson's research. Among the events was a "Jail and Bail" that took place in the afternoon. Bixyl Shuftan was there, and was witness to the fundraising, and carnival chaos.

"The Multiverse Fair," A Halloween Fundraiser For Parkinson's

The Multiverse Fair is going on. This fundraiser for Parkinson's Disease research takes place over seven sims, and is going on until Tuesday November 4.

Multiverse Fair is a seven region mega event in Second Life supporting The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Step into the ripple where realities collide. The Multiverse Fair is not just an event, it’s a dimensional detour through twisted fantasy, surreal sci-fi, and haunted dreams. Seven realms. Countless stories. Booths, quests, secrets, and surprises await. Come get lost you might just find something impossible. One question: What even is reality?

The grounds consist of seven sins (the one on the map on the upper right is a phantom that can't be reached). Five have various themes, related to Halloween. They are Dodge City (think Weird West), Folktales and Fleshwounds, Carnival Nocturne (evil clowns), Uncanny Ink, and Lolliocalypse.

The sims have some scary scenery. And I found shops all over with various goods.

Note: from the chatter on Discord, Lolliocalypse sounds super-scary to some.

The mascot of the fair are the Nubbins. You can buy an animesh one for 800L,and take part in the "Hunt for Nubbins" game in which you search for little statues of the critters across the sims for prizes.

Every day up to Monday Novemeber third, there are music events.  For more events, check the schedule (here).

The music events take place on the EclipticAquatia sim, at (128/133/22).

So to have a scary time, and support a good cause while doing so, head on over to the Multiverse Fair.

Fran Seranade's 90th Birthday Party

On Saturday February 18, Creations for Parkinsons was the scene of a 90th birthday party for Fran Seranade. The party actually got an early start the night before for a couple hours. But the main event was from 3PM to a bit past 8PM SL time. At one point, there were close to forty people crowded in the CP Swing Ballroom, which unfortunately resulted in me crashing before I could get a good picture. Yours truly would have to wait until later for a clear one without they grays and glitches.

Barbie Alchemi, Fran's daughter, had stated her mother wasn't planning a party in real life. She would just enjoy the event with her friends in Second Life. The theme of the party was 40s sing and big band. And people either dressed in formal outfits, or in clothing that could easily have been of the era. There would be various live performers singing throughout the party, such as Max Kleen, "We had so many great performers here today."

While at the party, I would see the black and white photos of Fran and her family change like a slide show.  "Fran was the 6th of 7 children," Barbie told the crowd, "she was born in Brookly New York in 1927." Other pictures included her and a childhood friend, "they were both very limited sight and were considered blind at that time," and her high school photo, "she was the first in her family to go past elementary school and graduate."

While most of the musicians were experienced performers in virtual reality, one was making his Second Life debut as a singer: Ron Rosa. A singer in the style of the "Rat Pack" yours truly got a couple requests to mention him in the article, saying for a beginner he was too good not to name, " his voice is nuanced and spot on.  I think he is going to really do well when he gets tuned up."

Following Ron, it was time for the party to wind down. And Fran herself was ready to head to bed herself, "Good night everybody! Thank you all for a GREAT night!!!!!!!!"

Creations for Parkinsons raises funds for Team Fox, a Parkinson's charity. During the course of the party, a substantial amount of Lindens were raised.

Creations for Parkinsons has events on a daily basis, sometimes a few to several on a day. The CP Swing ballroom itself has events just about every day.

Winter Comes to Aero Pines And Creations Park

Gemma Cleanslate's travels across Second Life's winter lendscapes recently took her to two noted places. One was Aero Pines Park, noted for it's horseback riding. The other is Creations Park, which is the location for events to raise funds for Team Fox, a Parkinson's Disease charity. Both locations have a layer of snow as the Christmas season approaches, and offer much winter and holiday scenery.

Creations for Parkinson's

Becky Shamen's latest journey took her to a spot that has been mentioned a number of times in the Newser, but seldom described in great detail: Creations for Parkinson's. Noted for it's inspiring tale of being originally built by Barbie Alchemi for her real-life mother Fran Seranade to help her with her Parkinson's, the place has over time grown in size from it's original sim and it's purpose, now helping to raise funds for Team Fox: the Parkinson's charity founded by Michael J. Fox. Activities go on there several times a week, once where a blind DJ was playing music for some. But what about the sims themselves, the ground levels and the higher levels up above? Becky Shamen visited, and found them so stunning that before she knew it it was way past Midnight and had to continue her explorations the next day, and the day after that.

Creations Park Revisit

Before starting her tour to see various winter and Christmas themed places in Second Life, Gemma Cleanslate decided to revisit a place the Newser looked at before: Creations Park, created by Barbie Alchemi and her friends. Noted for being the home of Team Fox, which raises money for Parkinson's research, and Fran Seranade, who suffers from the illness but whose virtual experiences have helped her recover in real life, the place is very beautiful and picturesque, with it's wilderness, castles, and marble structures. Gemma took a look around, and there was plenty to keep her attention.

Tomorrow on Saturday August 16 at 10AM SL time, Second Life wrestling fans will get a treat. The WPWF (Women's Pro Wrestling Federation) will be holding a special event as a fundraiser to raise money for the Parkinson's charity Team Fox. A few days ago, Charlotte Williams interviewed Avina en' Cael, one of the event's organizers. Avina had much to say about Second Life wrestling, how she got in it, and what the event will hold for those coming.
