Going About The Fantasy Faire, And Grid Issues

 

 Yours truly has been exploring some of the Fantasy Faire. Faireland Junction by itself had much to see. 

 

 

 And some people took the opportunity to don a great fantasy look.

 

 

 The Fairchylde is where the daily dance parties are, a rainbow walkway leading to it from the pier. 

 

 I dropped by a set being done by Baine Finch, with people in all kinds of avies dancing away.

 

 But when it was time for the Children of Stories roleplay at 1PM SL time, The Squires of Garland, in which the return of the Golden Hour area is being investigated, along with a huge zigurat. But there was a problem. Linden Lab was working on problems with the Grid, and many avatars wouldn't rezz, or appear partially gray, and some objects wouldn't fully rezz.

Please be advised that in-world inventory access, Login activity, rezzing objects, displaying avatars, and loading times may be temporarily impacted during maintenance. Our engineers are working on resolving this issue as soon as possible.

 

 Troubles would continue to 5PM SL time, when some people told me they were starting to clear up.

Fantasy Faire Is On

 

 Yesterday, Thursday April 23, the Fantasy Faire started. And like many, I headed over to Fairelands Junction (https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Fairelands%20Junction/144/140/20).

 

 Some of the people attending were an attraction in themselves. 

 

From the entrance, I had to go up the stairs ...

 

 And out of the water, to some great scenery.

 

The Fantasy Faire goes on to May 10. Keep an eye on the blog for all kinds of great events, such as the Patch Linden Jail and Bail today.

Fantasy Faire Opens In Three Weeks

 

For those who can't wait for the Fantasy Fair, just hold on a little longer. It will be opening three weeks from today, Thursday April 23. 

 

The Fantasy Faire is one of the major events of the Relay for Life fundraising season in Second Life, with many highly skilled performers and builders behind it, offering shopping, music events, roleplaying, story reading, the Fairelands Quest game, and lots of gorgeous scenery to explore across many sims.

Winter Crest Ski Resort and Lodge

 

While the Christmas season is over, Gemma continues her search for scenic winter places. She recently went to Winter Crest Resort and Lodge. As the name suggests, it's a lodge that overtooks a winter area, including a ski slope. But it also had some detailed scenery.

Luminara: A Mystical, Self-Discovery, Silent Reflection Sanctuary

Neteral Landar starts of her writing about places in Second Life with Luminaria. Created by Sedona Starchild, the place is described as "a space created with care, where every detail holds a deeper meaning, if you’re open to it." Netera went to look around, and was not disappointed.

Sable Hound Hollow ‘s Winter Reverie

 

Gemma Cleaslate has been searching for holiday and winter-themed locations since November. And in her last article before Christmas, she looks at Sable Hound Hollow‘s Winter Reverie. There are sleigh rides, pony rides, and great scenery. She also had a chance to stop by the Premier Business Center and Bellisseria Fairgrounds.

Calas Christmas

 

In her latest article about Christmas locations, Gemma Cleanslate went to an old favorite: Calas Galadhon Park. This season marks the seventeenth year that the owners Ty Tenk and Truck Meredith have remade their area for the holiday season. And as Gemma found, once again they haven't failed to do a spectacular job, with a reindeer ride, ice skating, Disney characters, and lots of great scenery.

Joyful Gardens

 

In her article for today, Netera Landar writes about Joyful Gardens. Created by Hedy Heartsong, the place is beautiful and picturesque, with natural scenery including flowers trees and animals, gardens, stone ruins, a maze, and much more.

"A Winter Wonderland Christmas" And "Kenzie’s"

 

Gemma Cleanslate has been continuing her search for Christmas-themed locations.  Today's article features two places she found some Christmas decor. "A Winter Wonderland Christmas" features much indoor decorations, as well as some outdoor. Kenzie’s had decorations, but also some items to get as presents such as clothing, and there was also some picturesque scenery.

More At The Fantasy Faire

 

 The Fantasy Faire continues. Dropping by FF Holi,the place had detailed East Indian architecture.

 

Every hour, the place has colorful clouds going up into the air. 

 

Going about, I continued to come across interesting scenery.

 

 

From small scale
 

To large.

And continuing the Farelands Quest with my companion Pax (if he doesn't appear on your shoulder, check the option on your HUD that makes him visible or invisible).

Fantasy Faire Continues

 The Fantasy Faire continues. Besides the scenery and the shopping, there are events. During much of the day and early night, there are DJ parties at the Fairchilde in The Golden Hour sim.The deck gets filled with dancers of all kinds of avatars. So these events can be a treat for the eyes as well as the ears. 

Friday April 18 from 1 to 3 SL time was the Patch Linden Jail and Bail. There were about 120 avatars present. Many things were auctioned off from a new last name to Premium resident time to ownership of a sim. There was some mock banter from the crowd, "Grab your pool noodles, he's going down!" "You are jailed for life!" But it was all in fun.

 

I thought I heard at the end 500 Linden dollars were raised in total.  

Patch Linen would also say that the Faire would be extended two more days, to Tuesday May 6, and that for those who missed the chance to get Fairelander as a last name last year, there would be another later this season, "Stay tuned for details and an announcement from the Faire."

 

 And of course there's the great scenery to explore. 

And then there's the people you'll meet. Besides coming across RacerX Gullwing and Mariane McCann, there was some guy being crazy with a bus, going up and down stairs with it.

Fantasy Faire Opens

 

 The Fantasy Faire is open! This favorite megaevent of the Relay for Life is now taking place with 18 sims to explore, shop, and other activities.

 

 The 2025 Fairelands are revealed! Come home Fairelanders. Embrace friends, explore new worlds, experience the magic of the 17th age of the Faire. Today we open the gates for the 2025 Fantasy Faire. For the next 18 days, these regions are yours. The adventures you have here will change your life. All in support of Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society's vision of a world without cancer.

Bright Diamonds Oasis

 

 

So you've scored a date and are looking for a spot to go to. Or maybe some time with your partnered love one. Nothing too strenuous, just a place to cuddle and relax. The Newser came across one that was visually pretty, and had some cuddle spots and places to explore: Bright Diamonds Oasis. Bixyl Shuftan went there and took some pictures.

Fantasy Faire Opens

 

 

 Yesterday, Thursday April 18 at 12 Noon SL time, the Fantasy Faire opened. Relayers, regular residents, and the core fans, the Fairelanders, could finally get in, taking in the sights, meeting and chatting with one another, and of course the shopping.

Twenty Magical Worlds? Check! 320+ Fantasy Merchants? Check! Countless Dancers, Bards, Roleplayers, Troubadours and Travel Bloggers? Check! All that's missing is YOU, and Fantasy Faire 2024 will be good to go!

The time we have been waiting for is finally here! The Mists have parted and the 2024 Fairelands are revealed. Attach the Teleportation Scroll (HUD) and you will be whisk to Fantasy Faire. Take the scenic route by arriving at Fairelands Junction and following the One Path around the 20 region estate or pop directly to the Faireland that is already pulling at your heartstings. Either way come shop, engage, and explore the 2024 Fantasy Faire,

This is a HUGE mega-event with plenty going on. Besides the picturesque scenery, there are story readings at the Literary Festival. The Children of Stories will have their Roleplay Adventures, this year the theme being "The Desert Foxes of The Sunstone Oasis." 

 

Later in the Faire, the Fairelands Quest will take place, a game and interactive story in which you play the part of the hero/heroine, this year being "The Seven Layers of Joy" (the illustration showing several characters, a few of which look like companions from previous Quests). 

 

There are the Jail and Bail events, hosted by the mischievous Pawlice whom can supposedly be bribed with waffles.

 

There will be regular shows at the Fairchylde, the Fairelands party ship. Expect events there for many hours each day, sometimes late into the night.

 

In a Fantasy event, other residents are sometimes an attraction in themselves, with detailed avatars and outfits, and some occasional huge dragons and giants. 

And did we mention the scenery and the shopping?

The Fantasy Faire is scheduled to be going on until Sunday May 5. This is one event not to be missed.

 

To get there, pick one of the twenty sims, or port to Fairelands Junction (124/134/89).

Celebrating its sixteenth year, Fantasy Faire 2024 is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world. You’ll find fantasy avatars, clothing, furnishings, gadgets and exclusive items available from over 300 of Second Life’s top Fantasy Creators across 20 stunning regions designed by the visionary artists behind many of the most adored spots on the Second Life destination guide.

In addition to the sixteen shopping regions there will also be Faireland realms that take us beyond commerce and give us places to celebrate together as a community.  Party with fairies, demons and tinies at the Fairechylde. Fantasy Faire Ends (Officially)

 

 

After seventeen days, a little more than half a month, the Fantasy Faire, one of the more noted events of the Relay for Life fundraising season, has come to an end. At least officially. Unofficially, the sims will be up for one more day, for those who haven't yet finished the Fairelands Quest, or for those who simply want to walk around and enjoy the sights, and shops, one more time.

Winter Days

 

Christmas and New Year's are over. But winter still rages on, and so does Gemma Cleanslate's search for areas in theme for the season. Among the places she came across was Winter Days. There's plenty to do from skating to snowmobiles, and just taking in the winter scenery. For those who want to take a break from the cold, there's an open house where one can warm up with a warm meal and there's art gallery to see.

Winter at Astoria

 

With the Holiday season winding down, Christmas over and New Year's around the corner, Gemma Cleanslate decided to stop at one more winter place to write about before the year's end. Astoria was a little quieter than some she visited as there were no stores. But there was plenty to do from skating, to snowboarding, or just enjoying the scenery and animals. She also took a trip back to the Dickens Project to watch a performance on stage by Virtuoso Performing Arts.

Longing Melody

 

October is almost here. While the month is best known for Halloween, it's also known in real life for the fall season taking hold as the days start to get shorter, the summer heat fades, and trees start to change color. Gemma dropped by a location in Second Life which mirrored real life as it showed trees with changing and falling leaves and other scenery: Longing Melody. It is one of the Nature Collective areas, though hadn't been by it yet. So what did she think?
