EOTB: Meet The Lindens At The SL23B

One of the features of the Second Life Birthday for a number of years is you get a chance to listen to some of Linden Lab's finest, hear what's on their minds and what they've been up to and planning for the near future, and maybe get a chance to ask some questions. From Monday to Friday this week, there will be five Meet The Lindens events there.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, June 22nd at 1pm PT – Meet the Founder of Second Life, Philip Rosedale (a.k.a. Philip Linden), live at SL23B

Tuesday, June 23rd at 1pm PT – Meet the Product team live at SL23B

Wednesday, June 24th at 1pm PT – Meet the Engineering team live at SL23B

Thursday, June 25th at 1pm PT – Meet the Marketing and Growth teams live at SL23B

Friday, June 26th at 1pm PT – Meet the Second Life Studios team live at SL23B

The event is at the Orpheum Theater, with the following SURL suggestions:

Commentary: Patch Linden - A Long Career With A Sudden Ending That Leaves A Big Hole And Many Questions

It isn't often that one of the Lindens, particularly someone outside the Lab's CEOs, makes a big impression. Early on, there was Torley Linden with his "Friendly Greetings" Second Life tutorials. Oz Linden had some fans as well, and his farewell party had a huge attendance. April Linden as the one furry among the Lindens at one time had some admirers among the grid's furs.

And then there was Patch, or Eric Nix as he's known in real life.

It's fair to say Patch had a very huge group of fans. Being in the public eye since 2015, he would take a role in various Meet the Lindens events at the Second Life Birthdays and other occasions, as well as taking part in Linden Bid Me Bald events since 2017 and Linden Jail and Bail events since 2018. He was a part of Bellisseria since its beginning, and would sometimes appear in group chat and make comments, the locals as a group feeling he was one of them.

As then CEO Ebbe Linden began to appear less in public around 2018-19, Patch Linden would stand in for him. When Ebbe Altberg passed away in 2020, Patch would be part of the Lab's leadership team, and took the lead in honoring it's departed leader. Linden Lab would never choose another CEO, it's leaders being those of the Waterman Network that bought them in 2019 with Brad Oberwager (Oberwolf Linden) as Executive Chairman. But Patch would remain the most visible of the Lindens.

It's fair to say to Second Life's residents, Patch would be the face of Linden Lab to many, if not most, taking the lead in being part of many fun events as well as announcements such as Pride Month celebrations and explaining why controversial moves such as the Gacha Ban were done. And he would also appear in public between events, and willingly be the butt of jokes such as people spinning on top of him and taking pictures and getting spanked.

Then came the troubles.

In late February 2024, there was an article being passed around accusing several Lindens and Moles of engaging in ageplay, or in laymans' terms virtual child pornography, including Patch. The majority after being confronted with this "what the hell" moment would conclude there was no real proof any of the charges were true, Prokofy Neva, who was certainly no fan of Patch or at least a number of decisions made under his watch, would make a lengthy article explaining none of them held water. Linden Lab eventually felt it had to make a statement a few weeks later acknowledging they were taking the accusations seriously and investigating. While a few Lindens were let go some months later, the reasons were not given, so they could have been dismissed/resigned for other reasons.

Sadly while most of us believe "all remain innocent until proven guilty," some go with "once accused, always suspect." And a small number would view him with suspicion and hostility. Linden and Mole Chatter in the Bellisseria group would vanish for a while. Patch would keep a low profile for some time, not appearing at the VWBPE Conference that year and it would be months later before anything was heard from him. It wouldn't be until the Second Life Birthday that all seemed more or less normal again. But once in a while one of his anti-fans would speak out.

And now, out of the blue, while things were seemingly going well, comes the announcement Patch is no longer part of Linden Lab.

It's fair to say Patch was fired and not simply deciding to move on and resign. There was no official final statement from Patch. His account was quickly deleted. And there was no time as a Linden to tie up loose ends. While he would continue to take part in the Jail and Bail at the Fantasy Fair, it would be as his "civilian" account, Patch Pawtato, which most of us hadn't heard of until now.

So what happened? Companies do not simply up and toss out someone as productive and well-liked as Patch. None of the Lindens are talking. There was nothing in the short statement given by the Lab. So all we are left with is speculation. Naturally, some look at the accusations made against him and wonder if that was the reason. But it's been two years. If there was anything solid to be found, it would have been almost certainly been very quickly. In one IM conversation with someone, he gave one interesting possibility. A couple months ago, Facebook/Meta came close to shutting down it's virtual world, at least to those using VR gear. He thought instead of seeing it as a victory, the Waterman Group instead saw that the market for virtual worlds was going downhill and talked about the possibility of selling Linden Lab, talking enough about it to take a few steps, which included removing a certain high-profile employee with a cloud over his head, "'What about that guy who was accused of messing with kid avatars?' 'He's gone now.'" In my opinion, possible but unlikely. While perhaps not making as much as during the Pandemic in 2020, Second Life is still making quite a bit of cash. Someone else pointed out that Patch had been around for twenty years, and maybe the decision was made to move him aside to make way for someone new. Possible but highly unlikely. There's nothing to say Patch was out of touch with today's residents.

In my opinion, what probably happened was some kind of dispute, or a series of disputes behind the scenes between Patch and the owners. And all it would take would be for one of them to be in a particularly foul mood. CEOs. It certainly would be far from the first time someone was booted for POing the boss.

But the truth is, we may never truly know why Patch was given the pink slip. With Philip Rosedale, Second Life and Linden Lab were established, and he felt it was time to move on. With M Linden, Second Life and Linden Lab had gone downhill during his tenure. With Rod Humble, he'd stopped the slide but hadn't succeeded in getting the place to bounce back and had angered content creators. But with our unofficial leader of the Lab, the reasons just aren't clear. And this uncertainty will likely complicate the Lab's relationship with the residents somewhat for some time.

Will anyone else rise to fill the void Patch leaves? Right now, we don't know that either. Grumpity Linden is one possibility. But it's also probable no one Linden will truly take his place, among the Bellisserians, or the residents in general. The accusations were a reminder if you're high profile, you're a tempting target for trolls.

Wherever you go from here Patch Linden/Eric Nix, we wish you well.

Patch's Jail and Bail

On Friday May 8, the Fantasy had it's Patch Jail and Bail. There were close to a hundred people in the sim, and the place was so laggy many avatars wouldn't rezz or were half-rezzed. To those who don't know, Patch Linden's Jail and Bail had been postponed twice, then was thrown up in the air when he was dismissed from Linden Lab last week

One more for the road! Let us take this opportunity to welcome a new (but oh so familiar) friend to the Fairelands. You may think Linden, but we say Pawtato. Either way it’s still the same old Patch so whether you are coming to say farewell or welcome, grab a friend or two and come party with Patch!

Some people would rezz. Many had the tag "We <3 Patch." And I wasn't the only one having trouble seeing some avatars, "I seee.. ummm so many naked people, hehe."

Unfortunately for me as a photographer, the former Patch Linden, now Patch Pawtato, would only be a fraction rezzed, not much more than his nametag showing up in my viewer. He was in a jail cell made from peppermint bars and other candies.

There were also some items up for sale, such as boopie dolls, duplicates of the candy jail, pink flamingo balloons, and more.  "I gotta get that Boopie, I'm a Boopie addict!" Someone was passing out cutouts of Patch for free.

There were numerous jokes such as licking the cell bars and poking fun at Patch's surname, "lets do the hot potato," "All this Pawtato talk makes me hungry for some Pawtato Chips," challenges made by people to match donations, more joking comments, "I reject the Unweaver! I also reject the underwear." "Oh, Emm, Gee! Elayne will end up in the poor house after today!" Patch himself was licking the bars, even after a wolf was, "Someone seal that door shut with more royal icing. Don't let Patch escape!"

Patch also promised to get the Lindens to extend the Faire if the kiosk reached 800,000 L. It was, to Wednesday May 13, and the amount donated to the Relay kiosk continued to climb. People asked for "Fairelander" to be available once again as a choice of last name to choose to, but I never heard an affirmative to that.

There was a griefer who tried disrupting the event. He was quickly ejected, "Kick that f**ker!"

Eventually, the two hour mark was reached, and Patch was let go. Over a million Linden dollars were donated for the event, plus over a hundred thousand chipped in the vendor kiosks.

A video of the event was also done.

Stingray (Stingray9798 Raymaker) would say,  "Thank you again Patch -- not just for today, but for over 20 years of supporting ACS/RFL/Fantasy Faire in Second Life. Your commitment to our mission is a BIG reason why we've raised over $6 Million USD since 2005, why Fantasy Faire is one of the top Relay For Life 'team' events in the U.S. every year, and have consistently ranked among the top 20 Relay For Life events in the world for the past 5 years!! The BBB Gazette Says Goodbye To Patch

A couple days ago on Saturday May 9, there was an article in the  "Gazette," closely associated with the Belliseria Bureau of Bureaucracy. Written by Liberty Fairelander, it was a goodbye to a longtime friend of the BBB, who made news the week before due to his sudden exit from Linden Lab, "Farewell Patch Linden."

From our vantage point, Patch was never just a name on an org chart. He was a builder of worlds. Not in the abstract. Not in a distant, corporate sense — but in a deeply tangible way residents understand; coastlines we walk, homes we love, communities we belong to. Bellisseria did not simply appear one day — it was cultivated, expanded, and protected by vision, persistence, and an uncommon understanding of what residents actually needed. Patch brought all three.

He was a friend to the BBB. He had one of our first passports. We worked alongside him in big and small moments. From major celebrations where he stood with residents as one of us, to quiet conversations that helped shape experiences behind the scenes. He listened, and then he acted. Not symbolically. Practically. That matters more than people sometimes realise.

... Patch showed up. Again and again. For residents. For events. For the community. Whether it was a formal appearance, a colleague’s birthday surprise or a moment of shared laughter at a gathering, he never felt distant from the world he helped steward for nearly twenty years. That’s not something you mandate in a job description. That’s character. That’s commitment.

... Patch’s legacy is not a single project or initiative—it is woven into the everyday experience of Second Life® itself. So, from all of us at the Bellisserian Bureau of Bureaucracy—leadership, ambassadors, and bureaucrats — we offer both our gratitude and our respect. Thank you, Patch, for the worlds you helped build, the communities you helped nurture, and the countless moments — seen and unseen — where your work made a difference. Wherever your path leads next, we have no doubt you’ll leave it better than you found it.

The article in it's entirety can be read in The Gazette

Update on The Patch Linden Jail And Bail Today, Friday May 8, At 11 AM

It seems Patch Linden, or simply "Patch" as he's being called, will get his goodbye party after all.

Patch Linden's Jail and Bail had already been postponed twice. Then his dismissal from Linden Lab seemed to doom it. But the entry for his scheduled one on Friday May 8 remained unchanged. Then this morning, the announcement had changed to the following:

Friday, May 8th, 11AM – 1 PM SLT on The Golden Hour

One more for the road! Let us take this opportunity to welcome a new (but oh so familiar) friend to the Fairelands. You may think Linden, but we say Pawtato. Either way it’s still the same old Patch so whether you are coming to say farewell or welcome, grab a friend or two and come party with Patch!

So it seems the event has been changed from a jail and bail in which he was offering perks from Linden Lab to a farewell party. Once again, at The Golden Hour sim in the Fairelands at 11 AM SL time.

More on Patch Linden's Sudden Exit

After it was announced in the Linden blog that Patch Linden was no longer with the Lab, word quickly got around. In the Bellisseria group, Dreamer Pixelmaid gave the news, "Very upsetting News ... Patch Linden gave us Bellisseria and made it what it is today. 'Reorganization'??? My *ss!!! So many things I could say... and they wouldn't be good."

Prokofy Neva, who has been critical of Patch a number of times in the past, would announce the news in the SL forums, commenting if Patch had to go, he deserved a better farewell, "The Lindens have provided a terse announcement about the departure of Patch Linden. I think they should have listed his many accomplishments and history starting from a creator and manager of a men's clothing store in the old days as a resident going up to his last position of VP of Product. The Lindens' absolute greatest product from the perspective of business is Bellisseria, and Patch Linden was responsible for much of this, guiding and shaping and troubleshooting it and inspiring the staff and retaining residents through many iterations of its development over the last decades. Patch was also crucial in Linden involvement in resident-organized activities such as Relay for Life including what was advertised as an upcoming Fantasy Faire Jail & Bail, Halloween contests and much more. I think the announcement should have listed some of these accomplishments. I hope the Lindens have an inworld goodbye party for Patch Linden as they did for Oz Linden. I think we will never know the half of all the jobs Patch had to deal with in Second Life and his virtual shoes will be hard to fill."

But there will be no inworld party for Patch Linden. Already, his account has been deleted.

In Bellisseria group chatter, there was some discussion about Patch leaving. Someone brought up the Ageplay Allegations controversy of 2024, of which Patch was among those accused. But it was reminded that if there had been any evidence of wrongdoing found, Patch would have been gone a long time ago.

Further in the SL forums thread, many had other questions. How will the Lab's Department of Public Works be affected? Why was he given such a sudden exit without a chance to say goodbye? How come he didn't even get a chance to do his Jail and Bail for the Fantasy Faire this year, which as of the writing of this article is still listed on the FF blog. Who will give the opening speech at the Second Life Birthday? Would this mean less interaction between the Lindens and the residents? A couple commented the way things looked, it appeared something happened and Patch was fired.

One commented even if he was, there should have been at least a chance to say goodbye, "The announcement seems a bit sudden and corpo speaky. I've always felt this corporate double speak approach to things doesn't really suit second life. I know it's a business and all but still. Every time something like this happens, LL feels like a less trust worthy steward of our world. We're talking about people that we know. His bear has sat in my sim for many years. I've seen him up close in all the LL Birthdays and events. Laughed at his dumb jokes at that Casino. I get it. They're employees. They can do things that get them fired. Would be nice to get to say bye."

Another would say, "I think the announcement could have been done in a better way, as it doesn't come off very well. For someone that's worked for the company so long, been an important part of major projects, and been a big 'face' of LL inside the SL world, whatever you think of Patch, it comes off as very cold, and 'terse' as other's have said . Even though they 'thank' him for his work. Or maybe it's just standard for LL ? I can't find any other official announcements of depatures in the past to compare it to. I think they had to announce it as otherwise there'd be a lot of speculation where Patch was, not showing up at the Faire and SL Birthday celebrations this year etc. But the announcement is just fuelling more speculation."

There will almost certainly be more chatter and comments. And no shortage of people asking "why?"

Breaking News: Patch Linden Leaving Linden Lab

A few hours ago as of the writing of this article, Linden Lab announced it was  "reorganizing its Product Operations and Customer Success divisions." As part of this "reorganizing," a familiar face will be leaving Linden Lab: Patch Linden.

As part of that reorganization, Senior VP Product Operations, Customer Success, & Trust & Safety Eric Nix will be departing the company. Eric (known to the Second Life community as Patch Linden) has been a valued member of the Linden Lab team for almost 20 years, playing an important role in the ongoing evolution and growth of Second Life.

“Eric has made meaningful contributions to Second Life over the course of his tenure,” said Brad Oberwager, CEO and Executive Chairman of Linden Lab. “We thank him for his dedication, leadership, and the impact he’s had on both our product and our community, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter.”

More on the story later.

FF Announcement: Jail & Bail - Patch Linden (Postponed)

The ever-vigilant Pawlice have discovered that Patch Linden has been involved with the Notorious Moles ransacking the candy store for a nefarious attempt to emulate Hansel and Gretel. Shocking! Candy Detox is ordered in a Gingerbread Waffle Jail. There is evidence! There is candy! There is a rumor that the Pawlice will eat both while Patch offers bribes – big, stupendous, amazing bribes – to the Fairelanders to bail him out! How will it turn out? Come to the Golden Hour on the hour, dance around with DJ DaveOSaurus’s tunes and see!

Jail & Bail takes place in the Faireland of The Golden Hour.

Patch Speaks At The BBB7 Start

Tuesday, April 14, was the start of the Bellisseria Birthday celebrations. And they started off with a speech from Patch Linden. The event was at 1PM SL time.

"Wow! I can't believe it's been seven years," he told the crowd. He would speak for several minutes, "Second Life has been shaped by all of you ... into a living breathing world. Bellisseria represents one of the most exciting chapters in that story." Patch would say this had all started with Linden Lab wanting to provide residents with ready-made homes, "What we've seen since then has exceeded every expectation."

Patch would go on to talk about the Linden Home continent's expansion, and with many different themes from coastal retreats to suburban neighborhoods. He stated Linden Lab had responded to feedback, and was always looking for how to improve accessibility. Patch would say Bellisseria is defined by those Second Life residents who live there, and it continues to inspire. The community and platform, in his words, were "a collaborative world in the highest sense."

And so, this week they would be celebrating "everything Bellisseria represents... to all of you, our residents, thank you. Thank  you for being part of this journey. Now take some time to celebrate ... Happy Birthday Bellisseria! And thank you all foe being here."

The speech was listened to by a crowd of close to fifty residents and several Moles and Lindens.

Patch would go "off script for a second," giving a shoutout to AmandaT Tamatzui, a key member of the Bellisseria Bureau of Bureaucracy, saying it was her birthday as well. He would also say in the coming months, Bellisseria would continue to see new themes as well as "revisits to old themes" in which "a few may see some changes."

After the speech, most of the crowd stuck around.to listen to music by a DJ. There would also be posing by Lindens and Moles on stage for pictures.

Happy Birthday Bellisseria,

Bellisseria Birthday Celebrations Begin Today, Speech By Patch Linden 1PM SL Time

Truly, there is no better place for it. The Fairgrounds have always had that unmistakable Bellisserian energy, where community, curiosity, and just a hint of delightful absurdity all mingle. For one week, that energy will be turned all the way up.

The festivities officially begin on April 14th at 1:00 PM SLT with opening remarks from Patch Linden. If you’ve ever heard one of Patch’s speeches, you already know they carry a rare mix of warmth, insight, and (often) surprise . Then, without missing a beat, we pivot straight into celebration mode with our opening DJ. I confidently predict a party worth rearranging your schedule for.

Throughout the week, the ever-adventurous Scarlett Amethyst will lead guided tours across the continent using a variety of transport; each offering a different lens through which to experience Bellisseria’s charm. Whether cruising along coastal waterways, rolling through scenic routes, or taking to the skies, these tours are more than just journeys – they’re curated experiences. Of course, being who we are, each comes with its own collectible stamp. If there is one thing the BBB understands deeply, it is the quiet thrill of the hunt!

This year’s celebration brings a constellation of new passport stamps to collect. Some of your favorite Moles will be in attendance, each offering their own unique mark, alongside stamps from Bellisserian Ambassadors, BBB volunteers, event stamps scattered across the fairgrounds, and yes – even one from Patch himself.

There is something undeniably satisfying about watching your collection grow, each stamp a moment captured – a memory you can hold onto long after the tents come down.

If you’re feeling a bit more ambitious, or competitive, there will be opportunities to put your skills to the test. Special driving, boating, and flying challenges will be available throughout the week for those who want to prove they’ve mastered the Bellisserian lifestyle. Whether you glide through effortlessly or provide entertainment for onlookers, you’ll be in good company.

Then there is something particularly meaningful waiting at the end of this energetic week. On April 20th, we will gather for a ceremony that is, in its way, at the heart of what we do. Led by Abnor Mole, we will officially welcome our newest Ambassadors. If you’ve never attended one of these ceremonies, let me tell you – they matter. Bellisseria reaches outward. Community becomes a little more intentional and enduring. That, I think, is what makes this entire celebration so special.

Yes, it will be wacky. There will be laughter, missed turns, probably a few spectacular crashes, and more than a few “wait, where did everyone go?” moments. But underneath all that is something steady and real; a community that continues to show up for one another, year after year, in ways both grand and quietly meaningful.

So come for the party. Come for the stamps. Come for the tours, the challenges, and the delightful unpredictability of it all. But stay for that feeling – the one that reminds you exactly why Bellisseria feels like home.

RFL Press Release: Bid The Lindens Bald

 BID THE LINDENS BALD 2026

Bid the Lindens & Moles Bald returns for its 10th annual showdown in support of Relay For Life in Second Life — and this year will be the grand finale.

In this fan-favorite fundraising event, teams of Lindens and Moles literally put their hair on the line. Residents vote with their donations: the teams that raise the most keep their locks, while the team that raises the least will go bald until the next birthday celebrations.

Voting opens during RelayStock on April 10 and runs through April 15, culminating in the always-entertaining Haircut Party from 12:00–2:30 PM SLT, with the clippers coming out at 2:15 PM SLT. Team lists will be announced in April, so start planning your strategy and your donations.

As the Relay Rockers prepare to retire this beloved tradition, this will be the last time Linden hair hits the floor — so don’t miss your chance to be part of the laughter, the spectacle, and the fundraising magic for American Cancer Society.

Mark your calendars and come help

It's The Great Trick or Treat Event, Bellisseria!

With Halloween, an interactive event has returned to the Linden Home areas: the Bellisseria Trick or Treat event. This is an event anyone can take part in, and any owner of a Linden Home can make it grow. Details were explained in the Linden blog and the forums

Join the Halloween fun in Bellisseria this season to collect candy and win exciting prizes! This interactive event is open to everyone, with Bellisseria Residents hosting Candy Buckets on their parcels. Don’t miss out on the spooky partygoers and creative costumes during this virtual Trick or Treat. Plus, there are prizes for all participants ...

* * *

Prepare to celebrate Halloween Belli style! Collect candy across Bellisseria this Halloween season and win prizes! This is an interactive event where residents living in Bellisseria can host Candy Buckets on their parcels and anyone (even residents not living in Bellisseria) can go all around Bellisseria Trick or Treating to collect candy.

People take take part in two ways. For both of them, head over to the Haunted Neighborhood in Millbank (217/41/23), There, near the red balloon, you'll find three boards. The first will give you a candy bucket, which is what those playing the game will need to find. The second will give you the Trick or Treat HUD for playing the game. The third will give players a prize if they've collected enough candy.

For those with Linden Homes, you can take part in the candy giving. Touch the first panel, and it will give you a orange candy bucket with a jack o' lantern smile. Just rezz it on your porch, or somewhere clearly visible that you don't mind visitors walking over to. Rezzing it inside the house is not recommended as treaters need to get close to the bucket to collect candy.

To take part in the trick or treating, clicking on the middle panel will give you the trick or treat HUD. Just add it to your avatar, and it should appear on the upper left of your screen, with some minor adjustments possibly needed. When entering a Bellisseria sim, it will tell you in local chat how many candy buckets are around.

When clicked by someone with a HUD, the candy buckets animate with a cloudy of candy going up into the air. The bucket won't work outside Bellisseria.

To get the candy faster, there's a spreadsheet with various locations you can find (here).  To get on the list, fill out this Google docs form (here).

The forum would also list some prizes, which can be gotten by clicking on the third panel. Patch Linden would list the prizes in the forums as follows:
  • 1 Candy: Custom display shelving unit for Boopies.
  • 100 Candies: Nibblehoof Boopie (decor and animesh follower), Custom display shelving unit for Boopies.
  • 250 Candies: Boopie Bones Boopie (decor, huggable, and animesh follower with random tint-changing versions), Nibblehoof Boopie (decor and animesh follower), Custom display shelving unit for Boopies.
  • 400 Candies: Snarklin Boopie (decor and animesh follower), Boopie Bones Boopie (decor, huggable, and animesh follower with random tint-changing versions), Nibblehoof Boopie (decor and animesh follower), Custom display shelving unit for Boopies.

No ending date was given, though it's safe to assume the event will end on November 1. In the meantime, have fun collecting candy, and the sights of the occasional decorated home in Bellisseria. Among the locations with candy buckets is the Newser's auxiliary office at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Wallingford (128/40/32).

Patch Linden Announced Upcoming Linden Home Theme, Ridgewave Conclave, "Foray Into Commercial" in Belliseria In The Future

On Monday June 23, the first of the Meet The Lindens events took place. Missy Mole, in a tiny avatar with a top hat, welcomed the audience and introduced a few of the Products Operations team, Patch Linden, Kira Linden, and Izzy Linden.

Missy would say that residents had sent in over a hundred questions. When asked about what the plans for Linden Homes were (4:42), Patch answered, "There's a lot of stuff in the works. ,,, we just recently released Aspen Ridge, and we also released updates to the log homes by adding some additional floor plans." He went on to say they've been in the process of updating Linden Homes in Bellisseria over time, calling it "a challenge because of how big everything is now."

Patch would then say the next Linden Home theme "is right around the corner. ,,, it will be called Ridgewave Conclave." It will be for Premium-Plus residents. Patch would give no further details, "let you imagine what that might be."

Patch would also mention "our foray into commercial," saying there would soon be commercial parcels on Bellisseria "with this theme rolling out.... it will be separate and kind of it's own thing. It will take advantage of using your land allotment where you can split it between home and commercial." There would be more information, "as we get closer to launch." But the Linden Homes would have a priority over the commercial areas.

Patch would go on to say further into the year, there would be more updates, including a "big" Linden Home theme "at the end of the year," saying it was "a mix of both" Premium and Premium Plus and promised "exciting features baked into it as well."

More on the "Meet the Lindens" later.

SL22B Starts Today

After weeks of preparation, the Second Life Birthday celebrations finally start today. The builds are finished (baring a few last minute minor tweaks), and ready for the public to see them.

The area for the celebration makes up 52 sims, including eight for adult-rated exhibits not shown on this map, being some distance to the east.

This includes the SL Newser's exhibit, at southeast SLB Enchant. Built by the talented Silvia Ametza and her team, it shows how time has altered the Pyramids of Giza.

The event begins at 11AM SL time when the sims all open. At 12 Noon today is the Opening Ceremony by Patch Linden at the Royal Keep at SLB Mesmerize (245/10/76), followed by numerous music events at the stages, with the resident-built exhibits available at any time from start to finish.

Fantasy Faire Continues

The Fantasy Faire continues. Besides the scenery and the shopping, there are events. During much of the day and early night, there are DJ parties at the Fairchilde in The Golden Hour sim.The deck gets filled with dancers of all kinds of avatars. So these events can be a treat for the eyes as well as the ears.

Friday April 18 from 1 to 3 SL time was the Patch Linden Jail and Bail. There were about 120 avatars present. Many things were auctioned off from a new last name to Premium resident time to ownership of a sim. There was some mock banter from the crowd, "Grab your pool noodles, he's going down!" "You are jailed for life!" But it was all in fun.

I thought I heard at the end 500 Linden dollars were raised in total.

Patch Linen would also say that the Faire would be extended two more days, to Tuesday May 6, and that for those who missed the chance to get Fairelander as a last name last year, there would be another later this season, "Stay tuned for details and an announcement from the Faire."

And of course there's the great scenery to explore.

And then there's the people you'll meet. Besides coming across RacerX Gullwing and Mariane McCann, there was some guy being crazy with a bus, going up and down stairs with it.

FF Announcement: Jail & Bail: Patch Linden

 Jail & Bail: Patch Linden

Friday, April 18·1:00 – 3:00pm

When Patch Linden wanders into the Fairelands, strange things happen! Who would’ve thought that a peaceful magical pond on The Golden Hour would manage to trap him by some mysterious force that is too mysterious for even our finest Pawlice minds to solve? Oh, the finest minds are on a waffle break? And it’s the flamingos and frog-disguised …special forces on the case? Oh well. Due to unforeseen complications Sheriff Darkwatch is calling for reinforcements, namely all the Fairelanders to help Patch escape the pond. Patch knows the Hearts of the Fairelanders and is ready to provide offerings in exchange to the linden donations flowing into the Relay For Life kiosks. Come get yourself a plushy frog, bid on the bribes fair exchange for freeing Patch and party to the tunes of DaveOSaurus!

Jail & Bail takes place in the Faireland of The Golden Hour.
