Interview with Matt Carlton (DJ Matt)

The Relay for Life's Sunbeamers team since their beginnings have taken pride in having talented members. One of the more recent ones is Matt Carlton, or DJ Matt as she's often called. An accomplished Second Life DJ, as well a Relayer in real life, she performed at both the RFL Home and Garden festival and more recently the "Fight Back Top DJ Fundraising Competition." She was recently interviewed by Penny (Deaflegacy Resident) for the Second Life Newser.

Crew Meeting

Last Saturday, February 1, the Newser crew held a staff meeting at our office in HV Community to swap ideas for events. Attending from left to right were Gemma Cleanstlate, Bixyl Shuftan (myself), Penny (Deaflegacy), new reporter Angel Fencer (Ender Leven), and Cyfir (Cyfiremmerich Resident). My friend Velani was also there.

January was a month that allowed us a slight breather after the Christmas season, which allowed us to write about things such as "Top Stories of the 2010s" and "Bus Tour Across Second Life." February has always been a bit more active with Valentines Day, then One Billion Rising. But with the start of the Relay for Life fundraising season moved up from March to February, well, it makes things interesting.

Get ready for more exciting news stories.

Penny (Deaflegacy Resident) recently interviewed the Newser's editor and head reporter, Bixyl Shuftan. Done not long after his rezzday in December 2019, Bixyl talked a little about his twelve years of writing about news stories across Second Life, nine with the Newser. He also talked a little about his time with the Relay and Team Sunbeamers, and another writing project of his.

Sunny Beach and The Gathering Oak

After a short break, Penny (Deaflegacy Resident) is back doing articles. For her most recent story, she was invited to the Sunny Beach sim in the Sunweaver Estates. The place is run by Erik Mouse with a little help from Becky "Sha" Shamen. So what goes on here? Penny was able to find out some details.
