We are pleased to announce the ninth season of Team Diabetes of Second Life! Team Diabetes of Second Life is an official and authorized team of The American Diabetes Association. The mission of Team Diabetes of Second Life is to raise awareness, tolerance, and funds for diabetes in the virtual world of Second Life. According to the World Health Organization (2016): 422 million adults in the world have diabetes and 1.5 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year.

At "Scare Me Silly"

 

 

 On Sunday October 15, I dropped by the "Scare Me Silly" event in Water Haven. This is an ongoing Halloween-themed fundraiser to get donations for the American Diabetes Association. The place had a misty autumn, slightly spooky look to it, with shops all around. And there was a live event going on.

 

 It was a little past 1PM, and Steven Dobias was performing with his guitar, wearing a mask. He was performing before a crowd, which included Vee Tammas Shocker, one of the volunteers of the event whom is often seen volunteering for the SL Birthday events as well.

Registration Open For Team Diabetes' "Scare Me Silly" in October

  

For merchants, musicians, and artists wanting to take part in a Halloween event for charity, Team Diabetes has announced they're accepting applications from people interested in taking part in their "Scare Me Silly" event.

The 6th Annual Scare Me Silly Event in support of Team Diabetes of Second Life will take place October 16 to 22, 2021 and will feature shopping, 2 hunts, art, live music, contests, giveaways, tricks, treats, & more!! Registration is 100% free for all participating artists and merchants, we simply ask that you place 2 items in our vendors at 100% donations to the charity.

Those interested have to fill out an application form (here). As the announcement stated, merchants must have at least two items with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity. The event runs for one week from October 15 to Oct 22.

Halloween Across Second Life

It's the last week of October, and places across Second Life are getting darker and spookier as Halloween approaches. Gemma Cleanslate has been across various Halloween-themed places across the Grid. At the Spookydoo Halloween Market, you can get decorations to make you own place a little spooker as well. At the Spooktakulum Event, gacha lovers can get some thrills and chills while satisfying their shopping fix. At the Trick or Treat Lane, you can do more shopping while enjoying spooky sights while searching for occasional freebies. At "Scare Me Silly," you can do still more Halloween shopping for a good cause. And for those whom spooky isn't enough but want a blood n' guts Halloween, there's the Linden Halloween area.

Weekend in Brief

 

Quite a bit happened this weekend in Second Life. The last official events of Burn2 took place, including the Burning of The Man (above) on Saturday October 17 and the Temple Burn on Sunday October 18. Also on Saturday, the annual "Scare Me Silly" Halloween-themed event by Team Diabetes began. On Sunday was the Tenth Anniversary party of Team Firestorm. The weekend would also see events for the Relay for Life's "Making Strides."

Seanchai Library at "Scare Me Silly"

Corwyn Allen tells a spooky tale to an audience at the Water Haven sim as part of the Seanchai Library's two hour event on Sunday October 22 from 1 to 3PM at Team Diabetes' "Scare Me Silly" event. Besides Corwyn, Join Aoife Lorefield, Dubhna Rhiadra, Caledonia Skytower, and VT Torvalar also had some scary stories.

A Busy Weekend

Quite a bit happened this weekend in Second Life. It was the opening of the annual Burn2 art and music festival. But it also saw the anniversary events of Trotsdale and Luskwood (above). There was a Halloween party at the Europa Wulfenbach sim. Making Strides in Second Life had some events. And Senchai Libraries took part in the "Scare Me Silly" fundraiser for Team Diabetes.

We have some about Burn2 today. We'll get to more time permitting.
