Book Island SL Newser Location Gets A Makeover

Remember a few days ago when the Newser had to move it's auxiliary office at Book Island? Since then, we've decorated the place a little. Yours truly put up some pictures. But Gemma Cleanslate did most of the work, putting in carpeting, chairs, desks, and flowers. So it's now a place to relax, as well as get the news.

Book Island continues to have events, such as the book reading here hosted by Selina Greene, with manager Otter Xue also there. So if you're an avid book reader, or perhaps want to share a little of something you did recently, join the group and keep an eye out for events.

Second Life Destinations: Fantasy Faire Literary Festival

This week's "Second Life Destinations" by Linden Lab is part of the big event going on in Second Life at the moment, the Fantasy Faire Literary Festival. It included a picturesque video.

Tarot Reading by Grease Coakes

Most everyone wants to know what the future holds in store for them. For Deaflegacy, she pondered over a couple issues. Someone whom offered a few predictions was friend of the Newser Grease Coakes, whom has been doing some tarot card readings. She decided to see what the cards had in store for her.

Grease Coakes has recently taken up this old art that Second Life has given a modern twist, tarot card readings given through the virtual world. So how does he does it? Grease offered me a free reading to show me.

The Senchai Library describes itself as celebrating "the Celtic tradition of stories told around the hearth or in the pub to friends, family, and welcomed strangers. Seanchai Libraries bring stories of all kinds to life." They have a list of events from Saturday today to Thursday.

Events This Week in Second Life from July 24 to July 30

It's a week full of events on the Grid, from Leonardo's Machines showcasing a mix of history and art to the Hair Fair raising funds to give wigs to young cancer survivors. And with the Olympic games in real life, keep an eye out for special events whose time is yet to be announced. And of course our regular selection of book & poetry readings, live and DJ music parties, talk shows, and church sessions.

Events This Week in Second Life from July 17 to July 23

The Relay Weekend is gone, though the sims will still be up for spontaneous impromptu parties, including at least one "flood party." But there are other events on the Grid. The yearly "Hair Fair" is taking place, raising money for "Wigs for Kids" to donate hairpieces to young cancer survivors. "Leonardo's Machines" offers a mixture of art and history. Plus more events. And of course there's our regular schedule of book and poetry readings, DJ music parties, talk shows, and church services.

Events This Week in Second Life July 10 to July 16

This week marks the high point of the Relay for Life fundraising season, the Relay Weekend aka "The Walk." But by no means is it the only game in town. There are a number of art exhibits on display, notably "Virginia Alone" by the noted Bryn Oh in the Immersia sim, in addition to some summer festivals. And of course there's our regular selection of DJ parties and live music events, book and poetry readings, church services, and talk shows.
