Also part of the March 10 Lab Gab (more on that later), this video would showcase the Second Life Mobile viewer in action. To sum up what was spoken, it's still very much in development, with an open beta unlikely to be made available until sometime in the second half of 2023. It's built on the Unity engine, and can use multiple mobile phone and tablet platforms, including Android and iOS.
The news is making some technology and gaming news websites. Game Developer predicted the move would help breathe new life into the virtual world, or "give Second Life a second life." Arstechnica wasn't so sure, calling Second Life a niche product, "and a mobile app might not be enough to change that."
