On Tuesday March 5, Facebook experienced a widespread outage. The incident started at 10 AM EST, and lasted for over two hours. The number of users affected was over a half million at it's peak.
A spokesman for Meta, the owners of Facebook, would say, "Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty
accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue ... for everyone
who was impacted." The announcement was made over Twitter.
