The Beta Contributor Wall

I recently talked to Xavier Thiebaud, the interview to be published soon (when I am not interrupted by power outages). But he took me to a few places, some not commonly known. One was the Beta Contributor Wall, which had a list of over 1500 names of those who were in Second Life in it's Beta days, before it's official opening in June 2003.

The 1500+ names here recognize the most active residents who made Second Life Beta a tremendous success. Whether you are still part of the journey, or someone we hope will one day return, you are all part of this community.

A big thank you from all the Lindens and a promise of much more excitement to come.

The wall, located in the Plum sim, thanked them for helping make Second Life a tremendous success, and being a part of it's journey.

EOTB: Linden Lab Asking For Help Testing Linden Realms in Beta Grid Cloud Servers

In the official blog, Linden Lab was asking for volunteers to test out it's Cloud servers in the Beta Grid. The testing would be done in the Linden Realms game area there.

As you may know, we are in the process of moving Second Life to the cloud! Our first ever cloud simulators, on the beta grid, have been uplifted, and we can use your assistance. Here’s your opportunity to be among the first Residents to test the performance of uplift.

Log in to the beta grid (click here for instructions) and start at the Aditi Portal Park to try out Linden Realms in the cloud. Bring your friends and spend some time engaging in the virtual experience produced and provided by Linden Lab. You may even run into the often unseen technical Lindens working away. Don’t forget to ask them for their Linden bear, and beware of the rock monster!

If you find any issues with Linden Realms on the beta grid, please file a BUG jira at https://jira.secondlife.com, and make sure to include the time, date, region you were in when you found the issue, and a description of what happened, as well as what you would expect to happen in a similar situation on the Main Grid today.

Linden Lab is in the process of moving data from existing servers to Cloud-based servers.

Press Release: M&M Creations Asking For Modular Tester

Do you like Castles, is it your passion?

I am building a modular castle and would like to have feedback from a tester. Someone who wants to build with and explore the possibilities of the modular parts I make.

Who is willing to invest some time and energy in fine tuning the castle parts (by giving comments)? Give me feedback for improvements and find those small flaws.

I test on the beta grid so you must have access to that. Please European time zone only so we both have daylight.

Apart from the fun which a castle addict must have with a new castle, I will give you the final castle pack(s) for free.

If you are interested please give me your motivation (send me NC).

Hope to see you in my Castle.

Marcthur.
