Reader Submitted: My Banning From Faery Crossing, And Beyond
When people think of someone being banned from a sim, they usually think of a troublemaker. But what if the person had made numerous attempts to reconcile differences? In a reader submission sent to the Newser, MajikVixen (Bluevioletvixen Lorefield) describes her situation with the Faerie Crossing community, of which despite her efforts to smooth out differences she ended up banned from the area. Here, MajikVixen presents her side of the story. But the most important thing, she feels, is that there can be a life after banning for a resident of Second Life.

A Memorial To A Fairy
MajikVixen (BlueVioletVixen Lorefield), whom wrote for the Newser in the past recently contacted us. A friend of hers, Bakki Beeswing, had passed away, and she had set up a memorial for her in the Zamargad sim.
I have made a little tribute to one of the best faeries in Second Life, on Zamargad. I put it on the top of the hill, so she can overlook things and be one with the Fae here. There is a piano a few steps down, that you can sit at while you think of her, if you like. I am displaying the lamps she made for her "The Golden Leg Ring Birdie Beastie Name Hunt" there too, as well as the wings she made for me.
We Love and Remember You, Bakki.
Anyone else with pictures of her was invited to hand them over, so MajikVixen could add them in.

What It's Like To Acquire A Sim
The Newser has written about hundreds of locations in Second Life. But the process of getting one, this is something we have yet had to write about, until now. MajikVixen recently opened her new sim, Zamargad. In this article, she chronicles the steps she took from the decision to get one, to the steps of the process, to the party to celebrate it's completion.

Crew Meeting
Saturday March 11 was when the crew of the Second Life Newser met for a staff meeting at our office in HV Community to discuss possible events to cover. Those attending were MajikVixen, Gemma Cleanslate, Bixyl Shuftan (myself), Deaflegacy, Mylie Foxclaw, and Grease Coakes
MajikVixen had made another Kittycats pet into an avatar. But what really got everyone's attention was when Gemma got out a large Donald Trump doll and began beating it, "I'm watching the (TV) news."
Guess the President has a way of "Trump-ing" even virtual news.
We have lots of stories planned for you, in addition for the latest news around Second Life. Stay tuned.

MajikVixen's Lesson at Sacred Cauldron
One can do quite a bit on Second Life and the Internet that would be practically impossible, or terribly inconvenient, in real life. This includes bettering oneself through education, including education of religion and spirituality. Besides having it's own sim in Second Life, the Sacred Cauldron Witch School Wiccan Seminary offers a chance of an online education course. MajikVixen took interest, made inquires, and got the impression she was being welcomed in. But as the process went on, she found herself disappointed.

Crew Meeting
Saturday February 11 was when the Newser had it's staff meeting. The meeting took place in the Newser office in HV Community. Gemma Cleanslate was busy with helping to make the One Billion Rising video, and Kain Scalia and Grease Coakes were having real-life matters to deal with. So that left Deaflegacy, Mylie Foxclaw, and myself. Also coming by was MajikVixen, whom stated she might be able to end her hiatus soon, depending on her real-life schedule.
Majik's appearance was that of a multicolored KittyKats breedable, the same kind as the Newser's mascot "Chilly." She had taken one, and made it her avatar.
We discussed a few things, such as the upcoming One Billion Rising and "Hug a Linden/Dunk a Linden," and a few ideas for articles.
Be sure to keep watching to see what the writers of the Second Life Newser report on.

Adressing Concerns About Lindo Virtual Flowers
In July, MajikVixen reported on the Lindo virtual flowers game designed by Sofistik. Recently a reader brought up some concerns about possible problems. Majik went to Sofistik to bring up the mentioned issues, and the game's maker responded.

The DiXmiX Gallery
Second Life Newser was recently invited to check out the DiXmiX Gallery. Owned by Dixmix Source, the gallery features a number of artworks from pictures, including nudes, sculpture, and other art. MajikVixen dropped over, getting a tour of the gallery by Dixmix, and having a few words with him.

Echo Valley
October is almost here, and that means Halloween and time for spooky locations to explore for thrills and chills. MajikVixen recently came across one called Echo Valley. Her advice when going about, "tread lightly." In this sim owned by Jack and Misty Le' Lune, while searching for items for hunts or just spook-tacutlar fun, you never know if what's around the corner might simply scare you or rip you apart.

"Conflict Resolution"
It's been stated before that the biggest source of troubles for people is, other people. No matter how much you try to get along, it seems that sooner or later you run afoul of someone. In her newest article, MajikVixen talks about how to deal with the other parties in disputes and a few tips in resolving them.

Club Carnage “The Ultimate Phoenix of SL Clubs”
Clubs come and go in Second Life. Many fade away after less than a year. So when a club has lasted more than a decade, somebody is doing something rights. Recently Majikvixen took a look at Club Carnage, which turned ten years old last December. Having gone through three owners and troubled times that would have killed most clubs, the venue has endured and continues to enjoy a good following. Majikvixen had a few words with it's owner Caemlyn Witherspoon about Carnage.

Treasure Quest
There's a new HUD-based game in Second Life, "Treasure Quest." For those playing, it means a little fun gaming and a little cash to be won. For land owners taking part, it means more traffic on their land. MajikVixen decided to take a look at the game, and wrote about what she found.

Crew Meeting
Saturday August 6 was our monthly crew meeting. Attending were Deaflegacy, MajikVixen, Becky Shamen, Gemma Cleanslate, and myself. We talked about the "busy time" of the past couple months, the Second Life Birthday, the Relay Weekend, and our anniversary. So we swapped a few ideas about what to cover next.
For yours truly, it was also the end of the "avatar challenge" I had following the community's Relay for Life team, the Sunbeamer's, reaching Platinum level fundraising, which left me as a pony for about a week. Back to being my good 'ol foxy self again.

Avatar Social Network Party
Facebook is used by over a billion computer users around the world, including about half of the US population, and a number of Second Life users. But it's not for everyone, and for people who would rather name an account after their favorite MMO gaming character, or their Second Life avatar, or something similar, it's policy discouraging the use of online pseudonyms can be a problem. For this group of people whom want a way to chat online, post screenshots and comments, and do other things they can online without the hassle, there's the Avatar Social Network. There was recently a party in Lionheart by residents whom were ASN users, including MajikVixen, who wrote about the event.Read MajikVixen's story in Events.

"What's In A Name?”
Names. Everyone has them, but what do they say about a person? Unlike real life, Second Life residents have had some degree of choice in their names. Before 2010, people could chose whatever first name they wanted, and one of a limited number of surnames. Since then, new people have been limited to a unique single account name (and the default surname of "Resident"), and a separate "display name" which could be whatever they wanted. As it turns out, display names can include some fancy letters that weren't an option before them. So what are some examples of what residents can come up with? For Newser reporter MajikVixen, she only had to go to her partner and circle of friends for some examples.

New Species of Lindo Virtual Flowers
Today our newest writer, MajikVixen, writes about a game in Second Life called Lindo Virtual Flowers. The game is designed to give the gamer a few Lindens, while increasing traffic to locations taking part in the game. One can also buy seeds for bonuses, and the top scoring players get a bonus in the number of Lindens they get. So where can aspiring green thumbs find one of these plants?
