The 2017 Relaystock

This past weekend in Second Life was the second of two big events the middle of the Relay season is known for: the Relaystock. It was three days of fun, music, and virtual rain and mud. Organized by the Relay Rockers, other teams were invited to take part, sending musicians, setting up camps, or both. The Newser was there, and took a number of pictures.

This weekend marks the Relay for Life in Second Life's tribute to the Woodstock festival of 1969: The Relaystock. Three days of music, fun, and mud. The fun begins at 3PM SL time today, the schedule can be found here.

Various teams are set up in vans and tents around the grounds. This includes Team Sunbeamers, sho has their tent near the pond at Relay dAlliez (161, 129, 21). So if you have some time and a taste for classic rock, come on over. Just watch those mud puddles as some are deeper than they look.

"Bid The Lindens Bald" Raises Nearly One And A Half Million LInden Dollars

What has clearly been the most successful Relay for Life "Bid Me" event in Second Life history came to it's conclusion at 2PM SL time yesterday at Wednesday April 20 in the Relay dAlliez sim. Twenty eight Lindens in three teams put their hair on the line for the cause of raising money for the American Cancer Society. Bidding was slow at first. But in the final days the cash was pouring in. And the results of the three teams are:

Customer Accounts: 719,182
Concierge: 352,485
Land Ops/LDPW: 399,735

Total: 1,471,402

The Lindens whom will be losing their hair, for a time period of close to a year, are:

Boris Linden
Derrick Linden
Izzy LInden
Kai Linden
Lillian Linden
Madori Linden
Theresa Linden
TJ Linden
Vix Linden
Whitney Linden

The money raised is counted as a part of the Relay Rockers team, which originated the "Bid Me Bald" events, and has the noted Relayer Trader Whiplash of T1 Radio as part of their members.

Congratulations to all involved.

"Bid The Lindens Bald" Ends Wednesday

Only a few days left to make a donation to the Linden "Bid Me Bald" Event. Twenty-eight Lindens and Moles, organized in three teams, are involved in the unique event in which for the first time members of Linden Lab's finest are putting their hair on the line. Put your Lindens in the kiosk of the team of your choice: Concierge, Land Operations and LDPW, and Customer Accounts departments. The loser gets their heads shaved.

Occasionally, one or more of the Lindens will show up for an event at the Bid Me location at the Relay dAlliez sim. Fuzzball Ortega took this picture of three , Ami, Tommy, and Corky Linden, who showed up for one event earlier this month.

The Relay Wrap-Up

It was the end of another successful season for the Relay for Life. 2016 "Once Upon a Cure" had seen many events and millions of Linden dollars raised to help the American Cancer Society. Now it was time to bring the season to an official close with awarding some individuals and teams for their efforts, announcing the theme for next season, and give overall congratulations for a job well done. For one certain reporter, there was a surprise at this year's Wrap-Up.

Scenes From The RelayStock

A few weeks ago, the Relaystock in Second Life took place. This tribute to the historic music concert in 1969 took place over the weekend of May 22 and 23. There were numerous DJs and musicians performing for the crowd, which at times was sizable. Despite the mud and the rain, it was all good clean fun.

Setting Up The Relaystock

Taking a look at the Relay dAlliez sim yesterday, a number of Relay teams were already picking spots for this weekend's "Relaystock," the Relay for Life in Second Life's tribute to the noted Woodstock music festival in 1969. Each team has a tent or a bus as a campsite, and a small amount of prim space to set up their flag and kiosk, and maybe an item to sell for funds for the team.

Team Sunbeamers will be among the teams having a camp there. Perri Prinz commented that the tents in this virtual world tribute were a lot more colorful than those at the actual event, for those who brought tents at all, commenting many of those attending brought only sleeping bags. Shockwave Yareach asked for, and received, permission to set up a coin-finding game to help entertain those at the event.

The official entrance to the Relaystock is at Relay dAlliez (11/9/22), with the Sunbeamer camp at Relay dAlliez (125/64/22). The schedule for the music events can be found (here).

Its a weekend of Peace Love and Hope, Great Music and yes, lots of MUD!

The Relay Rockers invite everyone to join them on May 21 & 22nd at Relay dAlliez, for our 3rd Annual multi-team Relay For Life of Second Life event RelayStock 2016.

The event will feature live performers and great DJs,  'Team Tents and Party Vans' and other events all built around a 60s style festival stage.  Teams are invited to bring Kiosks and Vendors, host 2 hour DJ segments on the stage and participate in one the most popular events of each relay year. The Rockers anticipate room for about 60 teams this season, so don't wait to reserve a spot!

Relay Rockers team captain Trader Whiplash said "Since 2014 RelayStock has been a huge hit as a multi-team event!more than 50 teams each year have participated in RelayStock."  The original RelayStock event raised more than L$ 1.5 million and more than 50 teams participated and in 2015 both teams and fundraising increased.  "You bring the kiosks and vendors, we'll bring the sim and the mud and we will all bring the party!!" added Trader.

The event will once again be held at Relay dAlliez.  Relay dAlliez is dedicated to the memory of Alliez Mysterio, who with Nuala Maracas and Trader Whiplash,  helped found the Relay Rockers team in 2005. Alliez was lost to breast cancer in 2013.  The sim was first made available in 2014 to any team to hold Relay For Life events. There are still several prime weekend dates open.  Team representatives can visit the Relay dAlliez InfoHub for more information and to submit a reservation request.
