Sunbeamer Medieval Fun Faire/Country Music Event In Caledon Downs

from Oldesoul
Over the weekend, much attention was on the upcoming Relay Walk, which was only a week away, with numerous teams getting their camps ready. But some teams were still squeezing in some last events. Among them, Team Sunbeamers, which had it's Medieval Fun Fair on Saturday June 1, hosted by Cynthia Farshore. But it wouldn't be all Medieval.

from Oldesoul
Everyone I remind you that at the Sunbeamer Medieval Fun Fair we are going a bit modern with a great show, the Country Rebels a Garth Brooks cover in one hour, 3pm.

The Newser wasn't there until later in the event, but Oldesoul got some pictures of  Cynthia DJing for the crowd. The Country Rebels were also scheduled to perform, but there were some technical difficulties. There was a stage, presumable supplied by the Rebels. But when the Newser got there, the stage was taken down and people were dancing around on the floor. Over 11,000 L was raised in the music part of the event.

Besides the music, there were a number of activities one would expect from a ren-faire, such as jousting, axe throwing, and a steeplechase horse race. There was at least one prize given out: a medieval style battle axe.

A number of other teams sent someone to the event, such as Purple Tears, the Second Life Cheerleading Squad, Team ACTS, and Roos With A Dream.

The final Sunbeamer event, the last Moon Dance, will be taking place on Thursday, June 6, at 6 PM, in Sunweaver Space.

Addition: We originally stated the Country Rebels performed, but heard there were some technical difficulties. Cynthia stated from 10 to 12 Noon, DJ Kayala and the Roos performed and raised 12,000 for Roos With A Dream. The faire raised a total of $16,345 for the Sunbeamers. The archery and axe throwing contests were won by Wateru Kohime.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!

SL Video "A No Clothes Second Life"

From Merryjest on September 25, "In Second Life, with the new fancy new mesh clothing, if your system or connection is too slow... sometimes people just show up naked around you, TO you, even if they have clothing on. So I wrote a parody song about it."

Sunday October 2 held the last events of the Renaissance Festival. Among them was the Royal Court Gala held high above the grounds.

Other events included a discussion on avatar complexity (above), classes, music events, raffles, and more. Not everything went perfectly. A planned fashion show was canceled due to the organizer being in an area in Florida where power was knocked out by Hurricane Ian.

Wildstar Beaumont would take a number of pictures and post them on his Flickr.

Scenes From The Renaissance Festival

The Renaissance Festival, or Ren-Fest continues. Besides the shopping, there's been a number of events. I dropped by a discussion of roleplaying at one point.

There's also been music events, both DJs and live performers. Among them was tiny singer Songbird Sorbet.

Tomorrow, Thursday at 1 PM, is one of the more notable happenings of the festival, the "Joust a Mole or Linden" event. The donation needed to take part is 1000 Linden dollars.

The festival raises funds for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

SL Renaissance Festival Opens

The Second Life Renaissance Festival is underway. The event, also known as the Ren Fest, started yesterday, September 24. There are numerous things to do there, such as shopping (notably for Medieval and Fantasy clothes, furnishings and gear), attending live and DJ music events, classes, contests, auctions, and competitions and other contests.

Dropping by the landmark area, there was a kiosk display with several outfits, from prices from 250 to 75L There were also some silent auctions done in cooperation with Linden Lab, such as an otherwise free year of Premium Plus or name change. There was in addition a kiosk for a "mega raffle" offering 45,000 Lindens worth of gift cards. I also witnessed a ceremony involving numerous people on horseback.

One of the more notable events, "Joust a Mole or Linden," takes place on Thursday September 29 at 1PM SL time.

The Ren Fest raises money in support of Making Strides, which raises money for the Relay for Life for breast cancer support and research.

CDS Oktoberfest And The Renaissance Festival Ends

This past weekend saw a few events. One was the Oktoberfest at the Confederation in Democratic Simulators. It was three days of fun that culminated in the "Party at the Platz" with DJ DJ Callipygian from 12 to 2 PM, with all the beer and sausage one could eat.

It was also the final few days of the Renaissance Festival, the largest fundraising event for "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer." There were roleplays, tournaments such as the archery ones (above), and the music events. There were also some raffles. Among those who won a chance to name a new region was Trader Whiplash. Among those whom won a chance to make a new last name for residents was the Sunbeamers' Matt Carlton.

For those who missed the event, there are other Making Strides fundraisers. And of course there is the upcoming Christmas Expo. Making Strides raises money for the Relay for Life, which goes to the American Cancer Society.

Missed The Pillory Event

As it turned out, we got the date of "Lindens at the Pillory" wrong, not today but yesterday on Friday. Things in real life have been busier than usual for me lately, and was occupied with things in real life at the time as well. So all that we have is this picture of the scene a few hours later with the stocks empty, and the rotten fruit on the ground all cleaned up.

On the plus side, the Renaissance Festival has been doing very well with fundraising. With this announcement soon after the event:

SL Renaissance Festival just hit $10,000 today and that was our goal! So of course we can’t rest there with 2.5 days to go. Our new goal is $15,000 !!! Woohoo! Let’s kick cancer in the pants and stick it in the pillars!!!!

Today and tomorrow are the last days of the festival, and the last chances to shop, get a raffle ticket, or attend a dance or other event.

At The Renaissance Festival (Joust a Linden Today)

The Second Life Renaissance Festival has been going on all week. In a four sim area next to American Cancer Society, various events have been taking place such as jousting (above), melee combat, and roleplay. But there's also been plenty of music events people can just drop in and dance.

Besides the DJ events, there are also live performers. There was one late last night at 9PM by Dee Freund (Dilah Halostar), the "Grand Finale" that night.

The Festival runs to Sunday October 3. Events in the final few days include jousting with a Linden or Mole today, Thurs Sept 30 from 12 to 3 PM.

On Friday October 1, if you want to get back at the Lindens for something such as the lag or teleport crashes, you'll have your chance as several Lindens and Moles will be at the pillory. The pelting with rotten tomatoes and other less than fresh produce lasts from 1 to 3 PM.

Saturday October 2 is also the day of the drawing of a raffle, the chance to create a new last name for residents to use (and the option to change your surname). The drawing will be 8:45PM SL time. Tickets cost 100L each, or 3 for 200L.

And for those looking for a game, there is the Queen's Quest. Somehow, someone stole her library, and there will be a reward for whom can get it back.

For more information, check the event's blog here: https://slrenaissancefestival.com/

Correction: We originally reported that the Lindens at the Pillory event was on Saturday Oct 2. We apologize for the error.
