 From Maus Merryjest on June 30, "The ending of my SL20B set. It was a wild time! Five days before my set, I decided I wanted to add an extra song to celebrate SL20, and do an affectionate parody of common topics. I created can-can clicky-heels for people to wear and dance with, and roped some poor unsuspecting innocents into my plot. I wrote the lyrics, and that's when I knew I had gone past the point of no return. Special thanks to my dancers Nix Starchild, Inferna and Greasy Cokes for making this a special moment- and to @secondlife for having me there in the first place. Here's to 20 more years of your awesome, guys!"

Crew Meeting

On Saturday August 11 at Noon, the crew of the Second Life Newser had their monthly meeting. From left to right there was Kain Scalia, whom is about to rejoin, Gemma Cleanslate, Deaflegacy, and myself (Bixyl Shuftan). Velanai, Pagan Sunfire, and Felina Firmi were there as guests. The meeting took place at the Newser office in Purrfection.

We talked about some things, such as the collapse of InWorldz and how some questions have yet to be answered or are just beginning to get one. We also swapped ideas on what to cover that month.

Commentary: Three Sims That Deserve Being Brought Back

In the past few months, three sims have come back from the virtual nether after vanishing for a time. The Oahu sim, the home of the USS Arizona Memorial, came back after the owner was able to finance it again. But two, Mont Saint Michel and The Lost Gardens of Apollo, required Linden intervention. This doubled the number of places brought back by the Lab. With Linden Lab seemingly more willing to bring back lost places, that got the newest writer in the Newser crew, Kain Scalia (Maus Merryjest), thinking about what locations he wished the most would return.

Reader Submitted: My Psychotic Little Friend

Kain Scalia, also known as Maus Merryjest, recently send the SL Newser a reader submission about a tale from his early days in Second Life ten years ago. It was one of those stories in which at the time he was terrified, but now he can look back at it and laugh. In his first experiment with scripting, he tried to make a virtual pet that would follow him, and anyone else, around. What could possibly go wrong, he felt. As it turned out, the answer was "plenty."
