SLPonyCon

With the Coronavirus Crisis shutting down conventions in real life, those whom had plans to go don't have to just wait until next year. They can have one in Second Life. Cyfir (Cyfiremmerich) recently had the chance to talk to two people Pop Princess Sakairi (Sakairi Melodious) and Braniac -Piper- (rosetheunicorn) whom were organizing one here, the SLPonyCon 2020. They had a number of things to say about it from the challenges to what to expect.

Trotsdale Celebrates it's Fourth Anniversary

Saturday September 19 was the fourth anniversary of the Trotsdale pony sim. And they celebrated with a big disco party, the event starting at Noon SL time.

Let's celebrate Trotsdale's 4rth Birthday together! Starting ... at 12PM SLT, the Theme is 1970s Big city nights.

The event took place in a skybox 3000 meters high above the sim. Various DJs, such as DJ Dash  (shurikenangel) played music for the event. ScentualLust also played some music for the occasion at one point. Once in a while, a random prize giver would give a lucky attendee a gift, such as an avatar mod or 250 Lindens.

The party got quite packed at times, with a few dozen ponies, some furs, and a couple normal human avatars dropping in. There were quite a number of jokes cracked, being September 19 including a pirate joke or two, and well wishes for the sim and community.

"None of this would be possible if it were not for Nyan (xnyannyanx). Daydream (brian.rutherford), and Cloudy Skies (charlie.sapeur).  They helped big time with helping build the party area.  Also the awesome DJs and entertainers and of course you awesome ponies for coming here for an awesome time :) You all are what make this community great, Trotsdale has been around for four years and it's all because of you guys."

No doubt the fifth anniversary party will be a blast as well.

Cartoon of the Day

From "Yuri's Night" last Sunday. Some cartoons show a really unrealistic view of space, people needing a helmet for air and nothing else. This cartoon denizen, isn't taking chances.

Reader Submitted: "S-s-s-s-s-SKUNK!!!"

From CCWing Resident. Looks like one of the stripped residents from Luskwood has dropped in on one of the pony towns. While some might worry, the grey pony here doesn't seem to mind.

Trixie's Magic Show

Some days ago in the pony sims, the last of the performances of "Trixie's Magic show" took place. So just how does a magic show look in a "My Little Pony" themed residential and roleplay community? Second Life Newser was invited to find out.

Halloween Candy Hunt in the Pony Sims

Pony fans have a chance for some Halloween fun with an Equestrian bent.  DC the Cyberpony (death.berger) described it as "a huge multisim candy hunt. You run around the sims and click on candy, then you can use the points to get prizes." The sims involved are, "Derpyland, Trotsdale, Ponytown and Ponyvale." The event is not just for the residents of the community, but to all, "everyone is welcome."

According to the rules, while candy can be in RP areas, it will never be on someone's private property. Each sim has a total of 420 points worth of candy on it. It ranges from 5 point lolypops, peppermint sticks are worth 10 points, hard candy is 15 points, candy corn is 20 points, and pumpkin candy is a whopping 50 points. Some sims are described as having "exclusive prizes."

Anyone with questions can contact Dash (Shurikenangel Resident).

Note, visitors heading to the pony sims may need to go to a hub area first, where one will need to pick up a HUD to be able to use a teleporter to the sims.

SL Video: "Second Life Pony Avatar Tutorial - Canterlot Edition!"

From Fox Oxbar, "Here is an updated tutorial video on how to be a pony in Second Life. I start with the login screen, show what a new player would see after they first log in, show how to get to the pony area, and then show how to get the basics of a pony avatar set up. There's a short fly-though of the Canterlot server at the end, too (smile)."

"Fallout Equestria" The MLP/Fallout Crossover Roleplaying Game

Have you ever heard of combining "My Little Pony" with "Fallout," the post-apocalyptic computer game? Neither had we at the Newser. Then Grease Coakes heard about a roleplay game that did. Called "Fallout Equestria," he decided to take a closer look at the crossover, including getting into the game himself. So how did Grease do? Well, see for yourself.

Springtime in Bronytown

The pony, or "brony," avatars and the community that sprung up around them made some news when they first appeared a couple years ago. Not much has been mentioned about them in a while. Recently, Bixyl Shuftan looked around the Bronytown sim just as the local ponies were getting ready for a festival, and saw quite a bit about the place and it's residents.

Two Pony Fans Speak Out

Over a year ago, a new type of avatar joined the ranks of the furries, tinies, dragons, and humans: the ponies. Although a community of "Brony" fans, as they're also called, experienced a crisis when its sims were taken down, the four-footed residents bounced back and continued to be seen in and out of their new Pony sims, as well as others using the cartoonish avatar on occasion at parties. Recently, a writer for the Newser asked if there was some trouble between the ponies and furries. One pony fan after reading the article contacted SL Newser, and asked for a chance to talk, saying while there was some trouble, it wasn't between the fans of these avatars.

Cartoon of the Day

Skylark LeFavre demonstrates a sci-fi firearm. We'd just been talking about griefers and ponies. Maybe this is why griefers have been going after them as other targets of theirs, such as "furries," have opposable thumbs, and weaponry.

Of Ponies and Furries

Today marks the debut of our latest writer, Zyker Finesmith. What was on his mind was certain rumors of trouble between some "Furry" fans and some of the more diehard of the pony/MLP fans or "bronies." In this article, he gives his two cents on the issue.

Return to Bronytown

Last year, the new "Brony" community found itself homeless and disoriented after it's sims were taken offline. This would be a fatal blow to some communities. But not only did this group of "My Little Pony" fans recover, but they're now stronger than ever. Xymbers Slade takes a look at the place, and interviews two of the "Mane Six" ponies.
