Scenes At The SLB: Pony Play

I had a spare five minutes the other day, so I decided to check out the SL Birthday. I noticed a large group of dots on the map in the exhibit area, so curious I TPed over. Once the red clouds, most of them, cleared away, what I saw was a herd of ponies running around. I noticed something else; they were rolling what looked like a large egg around. The third thing I noticed, there was someone inside.

I'd seen this group of ponies before at the Fantasy Faire running around, and now here they were at the SLB, having found something to roll around.  They went past me, and headed down some road.

As for the lady in the egg, SarahKB7 Koskinen, she's been in the paper a few times, such as wanting to be the first to sail between two newly connected continents

One random scene at the Second Life Birthday.

Reader Submitted: Pony Drivers of SL

Great article on the SL Grid Drive.  Enjoyed reading that.  Here is a recent bit from my drive adventures.  Unfortunately I don't have the photos to back this up. Just for your info.

Typically I do the Grid Drive a little later than the group start on Saturday after the Giant Snail races are done. I do it on my own but I see all sorts of other drivers out then. Some I might pass as I am usually pretty speedy. Others might pass me or I might keep seeing them at the stops along the way.

Most weeks, usually at a stop somewhere along the way I'll find the place will packed with what I call the "My Little Pony gang." Last week I arrived at a little outdoor bar where the Nav HUD said we were to sit. There were only about 3 or 4 seats. The ponies were all hippity-hopping and surrounding me on all sides. Must have been 10 or 15 or more, all madly gesturing funny noises and stuff as we approached the bar. Totally mobbed by ponies. They were taking turns on the seats. I decided just to ground sit amongst them which also triggered the HUD to move to the next part. A hilarious crazy few minutes there.

As I pulled out of the parking lot in my sports car. I noticed a bus pull up and sure enough all the ponies were riding that day on a big charter bus and were all hopping back on as I left.  Heh heh.

So funny, sure brightens your day when you run into something like that.

Video: "Warthunder's Strange History of April Fools"

From ZoltanSultan on March 20. On April 1 2013, Fans of the "War Thunder" MMO were surprised to see the developers had added flying ponies in the style of "My Little Pony"armed with machine guns and candy bombs. While this only lasted one day, it continues to be talked about years later. But this would only be the first of many stunts pulled by War Thunder ever year. Perhaps none were as funny as the ponies, but most were interesting and some amusing.

From DeniseUnicorn Toonie. She was at a pony party at the Happy Vixen when it was it's 2016 model (which lasted to 2019). It was one in which a lot of ponies showed up.

A lot of "horsing around" was done that night.

Pony Town Sim Closed For Remodeling

Besides being a noted member of the Sunweaver community, Dusk Griswold (Ginger) is also one of the staff of the Pony Town sim. She stated the sim has been "temporarily closed for a move and remodel" for a month, and isn't sure when it will be open, "I haven't gotten a definite answer. ... There was no notice sent out, just a public announcement in sim on Halloween." The sim closed a few days later.

Dusk stated the sim has been around since 2010 or 2011, "one of the longest running MLP sims." Of how the remodeling is going, "I have been to it to see the progress, it is coming along nicely. ... Some features the old sim lacked will be added. I can't go itno detail, though."

On the map, Pony Town is close to Saddlewood, another pony sim.

The Stagbucks Cafe and the Trotsdale Library

While Deaf was visiting Trotsdale, she came across two places of note. One was the cafe, named "Stagbucks," a social gathering spot where one could get a cup of coffee. The other was the Trotsdale Library, which is where a number of literary events are held. She went back to both of them, having a few words with their respective owners, Skye Wishbringer and Amehana Arashi.

Trotsdale

There are avatars of all kinds in Second Life. This includes the cartoon ponies made by fans of the "My Little Pony" cartoon which has aired for several years and has a attracted a following not just of kids, but also young adults (and a few not so young). Some of these fans in Second Life made a community for themselves, often called the Trotsdale community after the name of the main sim of the estates. Deaflegacy went by had a few words with one of the locals, and had a look around.

Cartoon of the Day: Dalek Pony

Ponies and Daleks seem like an impossible combination as the former value friendship and the later values hate. But this one found a way,"Am I not Dalek-tible in this outfit?"

Ponyland's Closing

Among the sims to close in 2015, among the last, if not the last to do so was one of the Trotsdale community's places: Ponyland. Originally, it was planned to stay up only for a short time, but it proved a bit more popular than expected, and was kept up. But eventually time ran out, and it was decided to give the place one final party before the end.

New Sponsor, and an Auxillary Office

The Newser has a new sponsor, the Nisa Manelands Roleplaying sims. Owned by Lacy Musketeer, she added this to the deal, an auxiliary office location in Exmoor, just north of where the sim borders Trotsdale to the south. In contrast to the cartoon-like builds in Trotsdale, the Nisa sims are mostly wilderness area.

Grease Coakes wrote about Nisa earlier this year in August. Since then, the area has grown. Lacy's attracted a number of friends to her roleplay, but there's still room for more.

Trotsdale's Third Birthday Celebration With Musicians Jaycatt and Frogg

Last weekend was one of celebration in the pony community. Trotsdale was now three years old, and the locals and their friends at Luskwood threw an anniversary party. The main event (or mane event this being an equine place) was when live musicians Jaycatt and Frogg took the stage. It was a fun event for four-legged and two legged residents like.

Relay for Life: Team ACTS Closing Party

Last Sunday August 17, Team ACTS of the Relay for Life held it's final event of the season. The event was held high above the Cody sim in a blimp.

Come join us for our Wrap Up party of a wonderful season!! We will be entertained by the tunes of Mani "Owlbear" Hancroft from 2pm to 4 pm SLT !!!
Team ACTS would like to thank everyone for all of their help and such an awesome season! Everyone is welcome!!

There were quite a variety of avatars at the party, from furs to a number of tinies, including DJ Owlbear, and a "pony invasion" of about a dozen pony avatars.

As it turned out, one of the ponies was a familiar sight with the stovepipe hat and purplish glasses: RacerX Gullwing, whom had briefly changed from his familiar rabbit avatar. Someone joked he looked just the same as a pony. But don't expect the Giant Snails to be replaced by the denizens of Equestria anytime soon.

The Relay season will end with the Relay Wrap-Up on Sunday August 24 at 10 AM SL time.

Cartoon of the Day: Ponies and Politics

To those not familiar with politics outside the US, "MOP" is short for "Member of Parliament." I imagine those whose interests fail to go beyond popular culture are more familiar with the abreviation "MLP." ;-)

Two Pony Fans Speak Out

Over a year ago, a new type of avatar joined the ranks of the furries, tinies, dragons, and humans: the ponies. Although a community of "Brony" fans, as they're also called, experienced a crisis when its sims were taken down, the four-footed residents bounced back and continued to be seen in and out of their new Pony sims, as well as others using the cartoonish avatar on occasion at parties. Recently, a writer for the Newser asked if there was some trouble between the ponies and furries. One pony fan after reading the article contacted SL Newser, and asked for a chance to talk, saying while there was some trouble, it wasn't between the fans of these avatars.

Of Ponies and Furries

Today marks the debut of our latest writer, Zyker Finesmith. What was on his mind was certain rumors of trouble between some "Furry" fans and some of the more diehard of the pony/MLP fans or "bronies." In this article, he gives his two cents on the issue.

Return to Bronytown

Last year, the new "Brony" community found itself homeless and disoriented after it's sims were taken offline. This would be a fatal blow to some communities. But not only did this group of "My Little Pony" fans recover, but they're now stronger than ever. Xymbers Slade takes a look at the place, and interviews two of the "Mane Six" ponies.

Behind Bronyville’s Fall

Recently, the Bronyvile sim (and its sister sim), home to a community of pony avatar fans, were taken offline by Linden Labs. The result was the pony fans without a virtual home, and a number of rumors flying around. Xymbers Slade researched into what was going on, and talked to one pony about the view from inside.
