EOTB: Valentine's Love Boat Cruise This Saturday
This Saturday, February 12, there's a special event going on at Bellisseria. It's the Valentine's Day Love Boat Cruise. The cruise starts at 10 AM, and should go on for slightly less than an hour. This will be followed by a four hour party at Bellisseria Fairgrounds.
On Saturday, February 12 starting at 10am SLT, join us for a romantic cruise and after party, featuring a live performer and DJ’s!
The cruise will begin at: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Campwich Forest/181/104/22
Collect your map of the route and the urls to the music streams from one of the kiosks placed out in-world. The actual cruise should last approximately 50 minutes.
After the cruise, celebrate with everyone at the Bellisseria Fairgrounds. The party will last for approximately 4 hours (until 2PM SLT) and everyone is invited to party and dance. Come and join us in a celebration of love!
If you do not wish to sail you can either spectate along the sailing route, or head over to the event area at: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bellisseria Fairgrounds/172/244/24
Live DJing will begin at the start of the event in the Fairgrounds region. You can listen to the stream as you sail or go directly to the fairgrounds. There's a live performer, of who the name hasn't been disclosed yet as of the writing of this article. The Lab states while smaller boats may follow the cruise ship (large ones that may block waterways are unwelcome), any decorations have to be in theme with Valentine's Day with no political messages.

Announcement: Bellisseria Cinco De Mayo Boat Parade
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the Bellisseria Parade!
The Bellisseria Relay teams are celebrating Cinco de Mayo this weekend, May 2nd-5th. The celebration will include a Boat Parade that will leave the Fairground docks at noon on May 3rd. You are all invited to bring your boat and join the parade. We're sending early notice so you have time to decorate your boat, too. Decorate it for Relay or Cinco de Mayo or both. Please plan to join us at noon on Saturday at the Fairgrounds, we look forward to seeing you!
The plan:
The First Anniversary boat parade was so much fun that we thought we'd do it again!
We will arrive before noon at the docks at Whiskey Bay. Rez boats there and then move over to the west into Bellisseria Bay to line up, boats pointed south.
From there we'll cruise on south in parade line (as best we can with the constraints imposed by persnickety simulators, boats, and whatever else the Fates have in store.
The parade route takes on a tour around The Pickle! The whole trip takes about 45 minutes.
For more information, and a notecard, contact Camden McAndrews and/or join the Bellisseria Parade Group.

The Bellisseria Anniversary Rock and Sail
This weekend from Friday to Sunday, the first anniversary of the opening of the Linden Home continent of Bellisseria. On all three days, there were music and dance parties in the Fairgrounds. But on Friday and Saturday, there was also the "Rock and Sail." This was a boat parade from a spot on the middle of the western coast to the Fairground island. Gemma decided to take part in the Friday parade, which would be the longest journey she ever made by water.

LEA 20 and the Moving Islands
By Gemma Cleanslate
It was a very moving experience , literally. I received an invitation to a
new installation to the LEA 20 collective project called Moving Islands. What
wonderful fun!! There are so many people involved in this installation I
can’t list them all! But you can see all the names at http://lindenarts.blogspot.
The installation is headed
up by Eupalinos Ugajin. I arrived in the entry and after collecting gifts from
an egg, jumped in a boat headed for the sim outside. When I looked back I
was coming out of a fun clownface house entrance. Ahead of me was a vast
ocean covered with all kinds of ships: some to sit in and ride along, some to
view as amazing and frightening. All of a sudden, the boat dumped me on the
bottom of the ocean. I walked for a while and found buildings rising from
under the ocean and spiraling upward over the waters. I flew up to find some
place to continue the view and clicking on various points found myself
participating in so many adventures.
I boarded a ship and began running in a
treadmill, like a chipmunk, propelling the boat through the sim.
Moving on I found myself upside down dangerously under water in a octopus like
build. I hopped over to check out a book in the corner that had
several amazing mesh looking bodies before it. Having enough of that I
jumped over to a ship that was being pulled by a fish and sat quietly at a desk
while mulling over my next move. I passed several ships that looked to me like
dreams from the past, perhaps lost sailors searching for land. Thursday, August 8, 2013
Reader Submitted: The Blake Sea
Becky "Sha" Shamen is back with another reader submitted article. In her travels across Second Life, her next area of interest is the Blake Sea. In the past, the area got some attention when one roleplaying group of combateers asked another to move on. But as Becky notes, the Blake Sea is a big area with a variety of places, whether you're into fighting pirates or just want to sail your boat into the breeze.

Tradewinds Yacht Club
Grey Lupindo gave a visit to a place to sail in Second Life, the Tradewinds Yacht Club. There, she stopped by a sailing museum, took a balloon tour, and did a little sailing herself. So how was her boating experience?

SL New England
Shellie Sands is back with an article on a scenic place: Second Life New England. With thirty-five sims, Shellie could get a look at only a small part of this vast location. But what she did see was very much noteworthy, places of sailing ships, recreations of historic places in real-life New England, and locations catering to merfolk. A place that, sadly, is in danger of disappearing from the Grid.Read about New England in Places.
