Areo Pines and Icewater Village

Gemma Cleanslate continues her winter explorations with a review of two places. Areo Pines has once again changed it's look for winter, and offering new activities for the season in addition to the scenery. Icewater Village also has more to offer than just a picturesque sim, with fishing contests, sleigh rides, and more.

Aero Pines Harvest Festival and Halloween Trail

On the lookout for Halloween Haunts, Gemma Cleanslate found some at a familiar place: Areo Pines Park. The park changes with the season, and with the fall comes the Autumn Festival. But it's also the season of spooky fun as October 31st approaches, so the staff added some chills and thrills at a place more noted for nature trails and horseback riding. Gemma took a look, and was not disappointed.

Winter Update

With January coming to a close, and a number of residents tiring of ice and snow, a number of sims are changing from their winter look back to green. But not all places are experiencing an early Spring. Gemma Cleanslate takes a look back at some wintery places she reported on earlier. One of them is planning a Superbowl party.

More Skating and Winter Fun: Areo Pines Park and Holiday Village

Today Gemma Cleanslate offers what will be her final Xmas and winter fun locations article before Christmas. She stopped by one popular year-round location, Areo Pines Park, to see what they had. Not surprisingly, the location known for it's horseback riding had horse-drawn sleigh rides, but there was much more than that. She also stopped by Winter Holiday Village, just in time for a celebration. And the place had much more to offer once the party was over.

4rth of July at Areo Pines

July 4rth had a number of events across the Grid. Many clubs and locations had a number of DJ parties. One that stood out was the Areo Pines Eagles concert. Instead of dancing in a building or sitting at a booth, one danced on the grass or sat at a picnic table. It was a packed sim as people came over for the party in the woods.

Places to Go on July 4rth

There's a lot to see and do on this July 4rth. Tribute City, built on the WW2 Tribute sim at (128, 51, 2518), has been holding Independence Day-themed events. They're the most publicized place, but by all means not the only one. Areo Pines Park also has it's own event today and for the rest of the week at Equus (16, 231, 22). Later tonight, the newly reopened Raised Tail Resort will be having it's own 4rth of July Beach party tonight at 6PM at Purrfection Estates (249, 61, 22).

If you want to celebrate by taking part in a WW2 themed combat game, head to the New Bastogne sim, join the group, read the rules, choose a side, get the gear, and after taking a moment to get the hang of the controls head out into the combat zone and run your flag up the poles to claim territory.

For places in Second Life with a patriotic look, one is SummerTown USA. But another was made not by an American but a Frenchman.  At Le Dome (36, 111, 21) is the Black Hills Forest, where you can see replicas of Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty.

Happy Fourth of July.

9/11 Stairclimb Tribute at Areo Pines

This week, Grease Coakes went to Areo Pines Park. Not for it's usual outdoor activities, but for it's special memorial. Cindy Bolero, the owner of the park, had set up a stairclimb tribute in honor of the firefighters in New York City whom had bravely went up the floors of the World Trade Center before it came crashing down. People were invited to see what it was like to step in their place that day.

Superbowl Party

How many of you, at least in North America, saw the Superbowl last Sunday? Well, a few places in Second Life had special events. For a few clubs, it was simply a special party. But Areo Pines Park went all-out, with a football field placed over what's usually a horse pasture, a tailgate party display, and during the game a huge movie screen showing the game. Plus Aero Pines staff member Cindy Bolero led a cheerleading squad.

Unfortunately, the sheer number of residents filled up the sim during most of the game. And if you did get in, the lag could interfere with what you saw on the movie screen. Still, the people had lots of fun, and most likely Areo Pines will be repeating the event next year.
