Scenes from the July 4rth Weekend

In real life, the weather doesn't always cooperate when it comes to having fun on the most American of holidays, the Fourth of July. The heat may drive people indoors, and rain may ruin a good fireworks show. But in Second Life, people are free to have all kinds of red, white, and blue fun, from themed club events, to a virtual fireworks show.

Fabulous Flags

Syndra has been getting ready for the Fourth of July a little early. Or rather, scouting around for those who want to be prepared. She's found a few examples of red white and blue women's swimwear, and most people would agree, with all the politicians wrapping themselves in the flag these days, it looks a lot more appealing when on a cute girl.

Happy Fourth of July

It's Independence Day in the United States, and once again the Elizabeth Town sim has brought back "Summertown USA." Read more about the place in our 2013 article. Note: not everything from last year is necessarily there this time.

In Relay DAlliez, the Relayers have set up the sim as a Fourth of July celebration, with the four corners of the sim having a different look.

In the Southwest, people can party in the shadow of a Statue of Liberty build.

When I got there, the DJ herself was sporting a Lady Liberty avatar

In the southeast is a build of the Washington Monument

In the northwest of the sim is an aircraft carrier by the dock. Other nations have carriers, but no one else has the number the United States does. This one offers 7Seas fishing and a bumper boat area.

The northeast corner of Relay dAlliez has a DJ booth in the shadow of a Mount Rushmore build, a replica of the famous monument to four American Presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.

There were some red, white and blue goodies to be found. I found a red white and blue straw hat.. This girl found some strawberry, creme, and blueberry treats.

Among those there was Gemma Cleanslate, in a red, white, and blue dress.

Have a happy Fourth of July everyone.

4rth of July at Areo Pines

July 4rth had a number of events across the Grid. Many clubs and locations had a number of DJ parties. One that stood out was the Areo Pines Eagles concert. Instead of dancing in a building or sitting at a booth, one danced on the grass or sat at a picnic table. It was a packed sim as people came over for the party in the woods.

Happy Fourth of July

Have a happy Independence Day, from the staff of Second Life Newser.

Places to Go on July 4rth

There's a lot to see and do on this July 4rth. Tribute City, built on the WW2 Tribute sim at (128, 51, 2518), has been holding Independence Day-themed events. They're the most publicized place, but by all means not the only one. Areo Pines Park also has it's own event today and for the rest of the week at Equus (16, 231, 22). Later tonight, the newly reopened Raised Tail Resort will be having it's own 4rth of July Beach party tonight at 6PM at Purrfection Estates (249, 61, 22).

If you want to celebrate by taking part in a WW2 themed combat game, head to the New Bastogne sim, join the group, read the rules, choose a side, get the gear, and after taking a moment to get the hang of the controls head out into the combat zone and run your flag up the poles to claim territory.

For places in Second Life with a patriotic look, one is SummerTown USA. But another was made not by an American but a Frenchman.  At Le Dome (36, 111, 21) is the Black Hills Forest, where you can see replicas of Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty.

Happy Fourth of July.

SL Enquirer: Independence Day Celebrations in Second Life

Happy Birthday to the United States of America! July is full of days to celebrate...
For those of you who may not be aware, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, from the Kingdom of Great Britain. The United States is a diverse nation with diverse people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, fireworks and family gatherings.

SummerTown USA

There's quite a bit to do on the Fourth of July, from the events all day at Tribute City and Areo Pines, and the beach party tonight at the newly reopened Raised Tail Resort. If you're looking for free decorations, you can get a bunch at the Corner of Revolving Time. For still more decorations, there's a location that really looks Fourth of July: SummerTown USA. While most of the decorations and clothes are for sale, there are some freebies plus there are things to do there.

Independence Day USA at "The Corner"

Looking for those flags and banners for July 4? USA is commemorating its Birthday which occurred in 1776 when we became a free nation. To celebrate in real-life, there will be parades, picnics and lots of fireworks! Flags will be raised high and banners across the roads. We in the US call it the Fourth of July.

To celebrate in SL, you need some decor. Vickijo Rivera had her creators gather some wonderful flags and balloons and other decor for your homes  at the Corner of Revolving time for you. They are all free! Just take a trip over to Ophelia sim and grab them. Step inside too to check out the rooms and rooms of furniture.  All these goodies were put here by Pink Josephina and Zain Darkwatch for your  taking.

Also take a look to the right side of the building for your summer beach towels and umbrellas and then run over to the left where you will find tents and fires for your camping. As you pass by on your way to the tents pick up a great picnic table with seating for four. As usual all these are free. You can hang out on the beach too, or visit the wedding shop at the mall.
