The Snowman Contest and the Holidays For Hope Ball


This weekend, the Relay Expo had a few last events. One was the snowman contest, of which the winner was declared on Sunday December 13. Later that day was the high point of the festival, the Holidays for Hope Ball. Second Life Newser was at both, and took a few pictures.

VMA Spring Build-Off Winners Announced


Grey Lupindo stopped by the Builders Brewery to check up on the Virtual Museum of Architecture's latest competition: the Spring Build-Off. This event was different than most other VMA competitions, and was concluded with an awards party.

Virtual Museum of Architecture Spring Build-Off


The Virtual Museum of Architecture (VMA) 2013 Spring Build-off is coming soon.   The theme is the homes of Feudal Japan.    The competition will be to create the most functional and appealing house within the parameters of the Japanese feudal era.
     Registration will be from February 1 through February 28, 2013.   The building will take place during 48 hours, from March 1 through March 3.     This is always an exciting event, with both an Opening Ceremony and ending with a big celebration party.
     To register for the Build-off, or for more information, visit the kiosk at the VMA Storefront, located at BUILDER'S BREWERY - CREATORS VIL, Builders Resource (212, 59, 23).
      There will be both Pro and Novice divisions.    A Pro is defined as anyone who has sold builds in-world or on SL Marketplace for at least three months, although residents can voluntarily choose this category.   All others would be in the Novice division.   The specific rules will be given to residents who register for the competition and pay a donation fee of $500L.

Jukebox Build-Off Winners

Grey Lupindo was at the Virtual Museum of Architecture for another 50s-themed build-off contest. This time each of the contestants were asked to make a jukebox. It had to be more than just good but it had to play music too. Six good builders took part. And the winner's build was certainly worth dancing to.

Jukebox Building Contest at the VMA


The Virtual Museum of Architecture is having a Jukebox building contest. The Build-Off is open to all SL residents. The Jukebox must be less than 30 prims, be created specifically for this contest, and be able to play at least one 1950’s music steam. The winner will receive $1,000L.

The entry fee is $100L. A notecard is available at the Registration Board located at the Virtual Museum of Architecture in Purdue University, (52, 31, 26). Or contact Djinn Dasmijn, Build-off Coordinator, for more information. Entries are due no later than June 9, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. SLT.

50's Drive-in Build-Off Winners

Trophy Contest for VMA’s Spring Build-Off

The Virtual Museum of Architecture will hold their 2012 Spring Build-off in April. The theme will be 1950's Drive-In Restaurants. The museum recently moved to a new location at Virtual Museum of Architecture, Purdue University (38, 45, 25). A pictorial display of drive-in’s, menus, juke boxes and more is currently on display.

To kick-off the Spring Build-off, they are holding a mini-contest for the best trophy made with a Drive-in theme. All residents are encouraged to enter. The winning trophy will be given to the First, Second and Third place winners of the Spring Build-off.

The trophy contest is open to anyone in SL. The rules are simple: The trophy must be 15 prims or less, between 1 and 1.5 meters tall, and made in the style of a 1950’s Drive-in Restaurant. The trophy must be an original design for the VMA contest. The entry fee is $10L.

In addition to having the trophy used in the Spring Build-off, the creator of the winning trophy will also win $1,000L. The deadline is March 31, 2012 at Midnight SLT. For more information about how to enter the trophy contest, contact Djinn Dasmijn.

Winners of Clock Build-Off Announced

The Virtual Museum of Architecture's Art Deco Clock Build-Off was featured in an article earlier this week. The winners have now been announced. They are:

First Place - Sandi Glas

Second Place - Gawwain Inglewood

Third Place - Undine Collinson

The exhibit will be on display through March, 2012.

Art Deco Clock Build-Off

Grey Lupindo thought it was time to head Virtual Museum of Architecture to look at their latest Art Deco building contest. This one is around clocks. From large to small, a number of timepeices were entered and are on display for those having a few minutes to look.
