Halloween Town And Moochies

Gemma Cleanslate has been on the lookout for more Halloween themed places, and places now sporting a spooky look for the season. In her article for today, her travels took her to two such places. The first was an old favorite: Halloween Town in the Townies sim. It has shops with many items for the holiday up for sale, a pumpkin-carving contest, and a haunted house with lots of scenes. Next was Moochies, which is celebrating with it's wooded area offering shadowy areas for travellers to brave when the sun goes down, and has a contest of it's own.

20,000 Lindens in Prizes at Happy Vixen Halloween Marathon Event

It's been a busy Halloween, and one of the last events was the six hour "Special Halloween Marathon" at the haunted woods area set up at the Happy Vixen. To begin with, DJ Geerkil returned to his usual time after being out for a few weeks due to technical difficulties, doing a "Red and Black" event from 4 to 6PM SL time.

Then starting at 6PM came the marathon of Halloween tunes. DJ Squeaks was first, followed by DJ Nydia. Lastly, Jasmine Dawn, who built the haunted woods, took to the DJ booth for the first time in a few years. About three dozen people attended, and the 7000 Linden dollar prize was boosted to 20,000 Lindens by a few in the audience, 10,000 for the top male, 10,000 for the top female. The prize for the men was won by Kanhk Windstorm, while Salurielle Shinigami (ShadowRenee Ivanova), and Mato (Matoazma Kazyanenko) split the women's prize.

More details will have to wait until yours truly gets some rest, but I can add the haunted forest will be staying up a few longer.

Mythica Woods

Among the Sunweaver sims, Sunweaver Air is what many visitors often see due to Club Clutlass. But the others get fewer visitors. Among these is the one next to both Sunweaver Air and HV Community, the home of the SL Newser office: Sunny Beach, also known as Mythica Woods. Becky Shamen took a look at the place, and the resident who owns most of the property there: Erik Mouse

Scenes From the Relay For Life Fantasy Faire 2014

This weekend, the "Relaystock" took place in Second Life, but no doubt the event from the one before was still fresh in the minds of some, the "Fantasy Faire." Although there are plenty of shops one can get goods from, the proceeds going to charity, people also went to see the sims themselves. They were quite scenic with some great views.

"Good and Evil" Night at Club Zero Gravity's "Haunted Woods"

Among the clubs in Second Life having special Halloween events in late October was Club Zero Gravity. To begin with, the space club decided to have it's events from mid-October to Halloween not at the station, but in the "Haunted Woods," a platform created by Jasmine Dawn Shuftan. Last night's party was "Good vs Evil Night, with partygoers dressed up as angels, devils, heroes, monsters, and more.

Tonight at the Haunted Woods, it's "Good vs Evil." Do you see yourself as a perpetual good guy, always wanting to do good and be righteous? Or are you the bad guy, taking delight in acts of villainy and just being bad? Pick a role, and choose a look to go with it, such as an angel or night in shining armor, or a devil or barbarian raider? Or maybe someone "evil in a good way" like a seductress. Whatever role you wish to be, wear it with pride and fly on over.

DJ Reactor spun the tunes for the party, at one point about 20 present and dancing away, "Welcome to the Haunted Woods," visitors were greeted, "Be careful about venturing too far into the forest, as those who go too far often vanish, waking up later on the beach with no memory how they got there."

The party went on for two hours, and eventually it was time to decide the winner. Skylark Lefarve was the one who got the most votes for the 500L prize.

The next party at Zero-G's Haunted Woods is on Thursday, Halloween night, which is sure to be filled with fun, dance, and another prize to give out to the best costume. The party's at Purrfection Estates Hautned Woods (216, 39, 1314).

For those looking for a Halloween party tonight, check out Club Cutlass at 6PM at Sunweaver Space (176, 62, 125).

Party at the Zero-G Haunted Woods

From Club Zero Gravity, "Tonight is a special occasion. It is our Halloween celebration, and for the occasion we will be having the festivities away from the space station and planetside in the Haunted Woods. Show up as something frightfully fun, whether it be vampire, zombie, witch, or some other kind of monster such as tax auditor or begging nub. Or take the opportunity to take on an avatar you otherwise wouldn't wear, such as human if you're a furry.

"So get your dark capes, your fangs, your claws. It's our time to scare and scream in this frightfully fun night."

The talented
DJ Jasmine will be playing three hours of spook-tacular tunage, and for tonight is a "Thriller" of a prize: 1000L on the board for the best Halloween look.
Come over and "scare up" some fun.

Steelhead Community: Mindy and the Sasquatch

The Steampunk-themed community of Steelhead is noted for it's variety of characters, from elves, to mad scientists, it's werewolf sheriff, and others. Today we look at two of the people in the roleplays there: one of the local children, Mindy, and one of the quieter but more unique residents, her friend in the woods "Mr. Sasquatch." So what does a Sasquatch do in a place more noted for it's steam engines than it's trees? We went over to ask him.
