Robin Sojourner (Robin Wood) Has Died
There was some sad news yesterday. It was announced that Robin Sojourner (Robin Wood) had died after a long illness from cancer. Marianne McCann first gave the news in the Livingtree Island group.
Robin (Sojourner) Wood passed away after an extended struggle with cancer (phyllodes tumors).
Livingtree Island and her stores will remain open for some time. I will continue to help manage this on her behalf, per her final wishes.
I will provide more information when I can.
In her over sixteen years here since coming to Second Life in September 16 2004, Robin was busy in Second Life. She was a content creator, and her products can still be found in her store (https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/1021). But she was more than that. She contributed to the Ivory Tower the Texture Tutorial, helping residents to quickly learn how to build at their own pace. She was also an instructor at the Builder's Brewery for years, "Her writings on many topics include texturing hollow prims, how to make clothing, stained glass, and how to work with materials and Alpha channels on Textures." She would also set up the Wiccan Learning Center. In March 2018, she was listed as part of the "Ten Women Who Made a Difference" exhibit in the CDS.
On the ACS channel in Discord, others would talk about her, "Robin was a well-known force for good and kindness within Second Life and her real life. In SL she built a safe space for all avatars, big and small, and created incredibly useful tools that countless residents use to this day. I don't think there's a single negative thing to be said about the woman. She will be deeply missed." "I knew her through her Tarot Deck in RL, decades ago. I found her in SL about 5 years ago. She had such a a calm spirit. ... Another light has left the worlds. ... and may she have peace and the causes of peace." "She ... had her own Relay Team for years! Robin was a dear soul and will be missed."
One can check out her Flickr page at https://www.flickr.com/photos/robin_sojourner/, and her website at https://www.robinwood.com/ .
Addition: Robin also had a blog, with the last entry made by a family member: http://robinwood.com/blog/ .

Press Release: Gacha Fest is Coming To The Builder’s Brewery!
The 1st Annual Gacha Festival will be an event hosted by the Builders Brewery Relay for Life team, with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. The event will be held from April 9-16 on the Builder’s Brewery sim.
We are looking for creators to contribute a complete gacha (set of clothing, hair in various shades, living room set, etc.). These items don’t have to be unique for the Gacha Festival (although we would LOVE that), and you are certainly welcome to sell them at your store once the Festival is over! We will be providing the official Relay for Life gacha machines. We just need you to supply what’s in them!
The deadline for contributors is April 4th. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in helping us raise money for the American Cancer Society. We need your help!
If you are interested in being a part of this event, please send a notecard to Natalya Lore (freudianslipped Resident) in-world, or send an email to Natalya.lore@aol.com with the following information:

While the Second Life Birthday has been the big draw this week, the Relay for Life events continue. Among them has been the "Speed Build" at Builders Brewery for the Relay Wizards for Spunky team. On Wednesday June 24, a number of builders took part in the competition in which they had a short amount of time to come with what they felt would be the best build. SL Poetry: "Script Help Workshop"
Give me your timers, your sensor,
Your muddled scripts yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your script folder.
Send these, the hopeless, error-filled to me,
I'll debug them on the Dockside Floor!

Lab's Grid Tinkering May Affect Moderating Larger Groups
Beginning tomorrow, Linden Labs will be rolling out some changes across the grid in the code for groups that will affect ALL viewers being used in SL right now - including the SL viewers. The rollout should be completed by Friday
What it means is that you will be unable to access the member lists in any group with 10,000 or more in the group.
You will still be able to get group chat. You will be able to send group notices and invite people to join the group if your group role allows it.
You will be unable to assign a role and you will be unable to eject anyone from the group since you will not have access to that particular individual's name. If you are a moderator in the group, you will be unable to exercise any mod abilities such as taking away chat privileges for the same reason..
The SL viewer should be updated soon. Firestorm will be updated but the timeline is unsure at this point (hopefully this weekend but that's not a sure thing yet).
We have no information about any of the other viewers at this time.
Addition: Daniel Voyager reported the reason for the code changes, "The new code changes will fix groups using HTTP which makes it more reliable for loading and editing for 10k+ members in SL groups. This is a switch-over from the old UDP which is not that great for handling large groups with 10k+ members. Its slow loading and harder to edit things with additional issues within groups."
