The Sunbeamer Moon Dance

Thursday February 29 was not only Leap Year Day, but also the time of the Moon Dance, the weekly event by the Relay for Life's Sunbeamer team.

A benefit for the American Cancer Society! The dance starts at 6PM SLT goes to 8PM SLT every Thursday starting Feb 22th and runs through June 6th. You arrive at Sunweaver Space and grab a seat in the Columbiad Moon Cannon to be shot to the moon. There once you land on the lunar surface a kiosk in your team's name will be planted and dance a celebration of your moon landing with other teams. Tunes provided by a Live DJ who is not taking tips! Wants you to tip the kiosk instead.  Come rep your team.

Cynthia Farshore was the DJ for the event. She played a variety of tunes, from classic rock to 80s hits, and the 90s and 00s.  She wore a joint Sunbeamer-Team ACTS shirt, symbolizing her support of both top-performing teams.

Among the songs played were Australian-themed ones for the visiting members of "Roos With A Dream." They were their in their distinctive Outback wear, dancing away with everyone. The event was a BYOK (bring your own kiosk), and a number of teams had one there.

Near the end, fireworks went off into the sky, lighting it up.

Team Captain Rita Mariner, and Cynthia, thanked everyone for coming.

There were plenty of other Relay events that weekend, such as Fly for Life and Bellisseria for Life. But unfortunately the Newser was not able to get to them.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!
