RFL Sunbeamers : Nydia Tunngsten's "Bid Me" At Club Cutlass

Team Sunbeamers is doing another "Bid Me" fundraiser event. This time, the vic- er, volunteer is sim and club owner Nydia Tungsten, whom is offering to change into one of five other avatars for a while.

There are six kiosks for people to donate to. Besides the "default" kiosk to "Keep Nydia foxy," from left to right the choices are (2) Skunkgirl, (3) Raccoon/Rabbit hybrid, or her "Swtiched Destinies" character Nydia Tangen Baron, (4) Bunnygirl, (5) Purple vixen, and (6) normal human.

When the period for the "Bid Me" is over, for every 2000 donated in the winning kiosk, rounded down, Nydia has to stay that look for a week. For instance, if the top kiosk had 3999 Lindens, she only has to stay that appearance for one week, while if it was 4000 she would be stuck for two weeks.

The kiosks will be up until 8PM Saturday April 18. Following the end of the Saturday Night party, the totals will be finalized and the winning choice made.

Relay for Life Sunbeamers: Bid Rita (Avatar of Your Choice)

The Relay for Life fundraising season is under way. And that means Team Sunbeamers is raising funds for the American Cancer Society. For it's first event, the team captain, Rita Mariner, has put herself on the line with a "Bid Me" event.

I have started a BID ME Avatar of your choice (if I have it in my inventory).  At Cutlass.  I will stay that avatar for a minimum of 1 week per 5,000L bid.  This is for the RFL to kick off our quest for Gold again.  Long way to go.  There will be be other BID ME offers.  This is but the first. 

Two kiosks have been placed side by side in the lobby of Club Cutlass, the room in front of the dance hall. The one on the left is for those wishing to keep the "killer rabbit" as she is. The one on the right is to change her.

I asked Rita for further details. She told me if the "Bid Me" succeeded, there would be a good deal of choice for the bidders to make, "I have a large selection, so you can pretty much get what you want. ... I'll let it run 2 weeks. ... It will end at the end of the dance."

Already someone else has volunteered for the second Bid Me event to follow just after Rita's. Whom is it? Details to come.

For most of her virtual life, Rita has been a purplish Kani bunny. She later changed the avatar to a slightly different one, but was still purple until a few months ago when she began sporting a white coat. But on occasion she has temporarily changed her looks, such as pink bunny, pony avatar, anthro pony, Lola Bunny, Pepe Le Pew, custom-made harem vixen, and human. What look will she have to take on at the end, we shall see.

The "Bid Me" will go on until Wednesday March 22 at 8PM, when the totals will be calculated.

"Man Up Rita!" Sunbeamer Leader Makes The Change for the Relay

On the late afternoon of June 8, the Sunbeamer Team for the Relay for Life held their "Knights and Damsels" party at Club Cutlass in the Sunweaver Estates, and the last time people could donate to the "Bid Rita ?" event, a twist on the "Bid Me Bald" many other teams have. The party was a somewhat small one as it was a Sunday. But the enthusiasm was strong. We'd reached Silver status the day before, and the donations kept coming.

There were four kiosks in which to make donations into. One was to leave Rita as she was, a purple kani bunnygirl. A second was for those wanting to bid her pink. A third choice was for human, as was done a couple years ago for when we were with the Passionate Redheads team. And the fourth was to bid her male.

After a few donations, it was becoming clear there was a favorite, "Bid Rita Male," and the donations began focusing on that kiosk. Rita was determined not to go down without a fight, and kept donating to the "Keep Rita Bunny" one. But the donations continued. Cynthia Farshore made one whopper 25,000 Linden donation (Shockwave Yareach made the second largest with 5,000). At the deadline for "Bid Me" donations, the results were 72,670 Lindens to 37,030 in favor of the make kiosk. The event had bumped up the team's donations so far this season to 175,000, putting us firmly ahead of many Silver-ranked teams.

Some thought Rita would just simply change to a buck male kani, "the buck stops here." But that's not exactly what happened. She changed to a "Pepe Le Pew" cartoon skunk avatar.

Rita lost her BID to stay a BUNNY, in the BID ME RFL auction.  I ended up a MALE SKUNK as requested by the WINNERS!  This is cool, as the fight was all in good fun and the money raised, is for a good cause.  We raised over 60,000L! and pushed the total for the Sunbeamers to over 175,000L! My deepest thanks to all those to donated and a VERY SPECIAL ONE to Cynthia Farshore who made a huge donation of 25,000L! She really, REALLY wanted me MALE!  LOL! Go Relay!

With Rita's reputation as a skirt-chaser, there were jokes this was an appropriate choice. The once-bunny still needs a fake French accent though.

The Relay season continues for both the Sunbeamers and other teams. With a little more than a month to go until the main event, the Relay Walk, the teammates are talking about what their exhibit will be like. There are also plans for other events by the 'beamers before then.

RFL Team Sunbeamers Reach 100,000 Lindens

For the past several days, the Sunwearers had some Relay for Life kiosks up at Club Cutlass for their own Relay team, Team Sunbeamers, "Bid Rita ?" event. As the days have gone on, more Lindens have been donated. Last night on June 7 at their tribute party to the Second Life Newser, the donations began to pour in. Finally, with a donation of 6,640 Lindens from Cynthia Farshore, the team reached the 100,000 Linden mark, and the rank of silver status among the Relay teams.

So what happens on the last night of the "Bid Rita ?" event in which she may have to take on another form (or not)? Stay tuned to find out.
