We are pleased to announce the ninth season of Team Diabetes of Second Life! Team Diabetes of Second Life is an official and authorized team of The American Diabetes Association. The mission of Team Diabetes of Second Life is to raise awareness, tolerance, and funds for diabetes in the virtual world of Second Life. According to the World Health Organization (2016): 422 million adults in the world have diabetes and 1.5 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year.

The official Team Diabetes of Second Life’s season will take place from October 2024 to December 2024 , with the following events scheduled to take place:

9th Annual Scare Me Silly Event – October 11 to 31, 2024

9th Annual Red Hunt – November 1 to 30, 2024
1st Annual Art Bazaar - November 14 to 21, 2024

World Diabetes Party – November 14, 2024

9th Annual Winter Showcase & Winter Art Show – December 6 to 13, 2020

Press Release: Team Diabetes of Second Life to Return For An Eighth Season

 

We are pleased to announce the 8th season of Team Diabetes of Second Life!   Team Diabetes of Second Life is an official and authorized team of The American Diabetes Association. The mission of Team Diabetes of Second Life is to raise awareness, tolerance, and funds for diabetes in the virtual world of Second Life. In addition to the events mentioned above, individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to hold fundraising events in support of Team Diabetes of Second Life!  The official 2020 fundraising season toolkit will be available to the second life public on October 1, 20202, at the organization’s office in the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life.

November is National Diabetes month! During this month, The American Diabetes Association uses the media to draw attention to diabetes awareness, prevention, treatments, and support mechanisms that are available to everyone.

This November, Team Diabetes of Second Life is joining National Diabetes month with several events planned:

A free National Diabetes information  pack will be available at the Team Diabetes of Second Life’s official office at the Nonprofit Commons complex. This pack will include awareness, prevention, and treatment information from the American Diabetes and goodies for Second Life avatars!

Established with the aim of raising funds in support of diabetes treatment and to raise awareness of the disease in SL, Team Diabetes of Second Life was founded by Jessi2009 Warrhol and John Brianna (Johannes1977 Resident), and is served by an advisory board comprising Eleseren Brianna, Veruca Tammas, Sandie Loxingly, Rob Fenwitch, Earth Nirvana and Dawnbeam Dreamscape, with Saiyge Lotus serving as a special advisor.
