Scenes From The Fandom Con

 

 

 The Fandom Con is still going on in Second Life. On Wednesday, I stopped by the Kraken stage in Octololligo. 

 

At 11 AM SL time Austin Moores was performing on stage. He was described as having a "vast repertoire might have him doing Country one min, Pop songs the next, and Crooning (like Sinatra, Buble, Como) the next. On top of that is sprinkled in some rock and swing music." He would sing various songs for an hour, strumming his guitar.

At Noon SL time, it was Nivor the Singing Chicken, "man can this chicken sing.!!! Crooning the classics, emotional ballads, up tempo modern tunes, he can do it all!!! And he's doing it here for the next hour so come on over and have a listen!" 

The avian singer quickly got onto stage (perhaps in a hurry due to the fox in the crowd), and began performing. He was cheered on by a number of gryphons who had come just for the event, some remarking they had never seen so many in one spot.

But the Fandom con is more than singing events. There are also exhibits such as the one by the Mieville community.

The Fandom Con is a fundraiser for the Relay for Life in Second Life.

Fowl Times at Lighthorse, Bellisseria

 

 

 One never knows just quite will happen in Bellisseria next. The other day in Bellisseria chat, someone asked, "Has anyone seen the big rooster at Lighthorse?" "It's funny." "It is a damn yuge™ rooster, it YUGE™! I feel I wanna ride it." "Oooooh what a lovely covenant violation! (big grin)" "Chicken nuggets." 

 

Curious, I sent my alt Rezz to Lighthorse and looked around. On the map, there was a brown oval, and I eventually saw it, an enormous rooster on somebody's roof.  It towered over me, bigger than the house it was on.

 

The comments in Bellisseria chat continued, "*wakes up to chat about 20 meter rooster*" "Turn it into chicken soup, with dumplings." "Man you know how many chicken nuggies we could make that thing into?" "Rude, now I want chicken soup." "Maybe the over size poultry is the owner comment on the neighbourhood?"

No word on if this was part of some B-rated machinima "Attack of The Fifty Foot Rooster," a publicity stunt by an upcoming "Bellisseria Fried Chicken," or simply someone's attempt at fowl humor.

Cartoon of The Day: Killer Chicken

 

Taken at Basset Town. At one point at the end of the Faire festivities on May 11, this huge mean-looking chicken gryphon appeared. With his red eyes and razor-sharp beak, it certainly looked like "chicken dinner" was about to take on a new meaning.

SL14B Sneak Peeks

It was Press Day at the SL14B today, and while we still can't show anything too revealing, yet, we can show you a few things with a small amount. One this is this flower held up by a metallic hand. A friendly greeting perhaps? You might want to see the whole thing before judging.

 Maybe chickens do fly, or in this case giant chickens.

Going into the light, so to speak. And what exactly is this road between two lines of building-like builds lit up by such bright light? You'll find out tomorrow June 18 at Noon when the SL14B finally opens.

Addition: Later on in SLB chat, someone remarked, "Someone tell Bixyl that a phoenix is not a chicken." I had been wondering why it was so big.

Taken at the Furry Fashion Lounge. If there's anything better than bacon, it's the crispy coating of fried chicken. But given the near-universal weakness of foxes for chicken, might they end up in this kind of trouble because of it?

Taken at the Trump Pub on Election Night. This might be the same chicken who showed up at the Clinton HQ during the first Presidential Debate. There's a bit of an irony here as in television media, Fox News has a reputation for being the most favorable for Republicans (though a few on the Far Right I've talked to have grumbled it's like calling them the most reformed inmate in a prison).

Scenes From Steelhead: "The End is Nigh!"

With the Steelhead Estates approaching their doom, yesterday the place began to look like it. Dropping by the place yesterday, a skyship had crashed into one of the stores, the "Three Cogs Shop," setting it aflame. With the streets deserted, there was no fire brigade to haul in water. Tobias would type in an announcement, "Don't try to put the fire out. Stew and me need the insurance cash."

 Nearby was a possible cause of such "fowl" mayhem: the Doom Hen Mk3, "Bwahahhahh! Cower before my ..*ahem* nevvermind."

With the city doomed anyway, Tobias had something else to unleash, "At each end of main street in main sim, you will find Steam Tank rezzers created by Ravenghost the excessively talented! You have team A and team B. Go battle! (Click tank panel for HUD)."

What else will happen as the onetime home of the famed Steelhead community faces it's final days?

"Chickening Out" At Steelhead

There seems to be no end to the antics and mayhem at the Steelhead community. Rezzdamit Resident, whom was checking in their weekly Town Hall meeting on Tuesday April 15 to see what would be happening this week, ended up taking a snooze when the human behind the keyboard had to take care of some RL business. And when he woke up, he found sitting on him a four-foot high hen with some foot-long chicks walking around. "You has been chickened," he was told.

Considering he's a red wolf, this seems more like a reward than a punishment for the alt. He'd bag the big birds and raise them to make king sized omelets, and dream drumsticks from some of the roosters.
