When Patch Linden had his "Jail & Bail" On Friday April 21 at 1PM, the lag at the Sambeaubee sim was so thick, many of the avatars took a long time to rezz for me, or just wouldn't at all. Patch  didn't even appear as a name tag for almost an hour. When I commented in Faire chat I'd likely have to borrow the pics of others, Wyv pointed to the link of a Flickr picture he posted,"ell I just crashed and relogged so Patch is nakies and faceless. Bad picture time X-D" then told me, "Put -that- in the paper hahahahah!" And checking the picture, it seems Wyv wasn't having much better luck than I was.

Fortunately as time went on, Patch would eventually rezz for both of us, and Wyv would send me a second picture.

And no, the black bar wasn't really necessary, but someone would have complained if it wasn't there.

Addition: This wasn't the only "nakies" picture of Patch out there, who responded with a "Help, Patch Has Lost All His Clothes" forum thread post.

"The Poultry Report" Second Life Blog Moving Due to New Blogspot Policy

Bay City residents are familiar with Uccello Poultry, or "Uccie" as she's commonly called. Besides being involved in local activities, such as her recent winning of the title "Miss Bay City," she also runs a blog about various things and doings, mostly about Second Life, "The Poultry Report." Adult content is part of her postings, such as the weekly "Topless Tuesday" posts. Unfortunately, such content is affected by a new policy of Blogspot, or Blogger, on which her blog runs. Starting March 23, all blogs that run under Blogspot that contain sexual content such as nude pictures or videos with bare breasts and sex organs or sexual activity will be listed as "private." This means they can been seen only by the blog's owner, or those with whom he or she has actively shared it with. This means that "The Poultry Report" would suddenly have a much smaller audience.

Rather than take down the "Topless Tuesday" and other nude pictures, Uccello made the decision to move her activity to a new location. Following her entry on Wednesday February 25, "The Poultry Report's" new posts will be at https://poultryreport.wordpress.com/.

Perhaps it is easier to objectify bare chests on women than it is on men and likely this will always be so. It is an erogenous zone, after all. And as much as I decry the inequality between men and women on this issue ... I can understand some of the reasoning behind Blogger's policy change. I can't help wonder, though, if Google/Blogger will crack down on violent images. Which is more harmful ... a picture of a woman's breast being caressed or one being carved at with a knife? Frequent exposure to anything will desensitize a person to the stimulus it provides. ...  Frankly, I'd rather see more breasts  ... Since my efforts with The Poultry Report have to been focus on Second Life I'll abstain from delving into the nanny state concept behind all of this. Perhaps I'll tackle it in the future if I can find an SL tie-in.

The Second Life Newser also uses blogspot as a platform, but as the publication has a "workplace safe" policy, Blogger's move will have no effect on who can view it. 

Hopefully, Uccie's blog will do well at it's new location.

Nydia Tungsten owns a stretch of beach which is "clothing optional," meaning if anyone wants to be nude there feel free, just behave yourself. But it never ceases to amaze her how so often, some people assume a lack of clothing means an interest in baser activities with just anyone. She had a few things to say on the matter, with a warning to those who still won't listen.

Burn2 isn't QUITE over yet!

Burning Man’s Ten Principles calls for Radical Self Expression. As part of that Self Expression, Burning Culture includes nudity and decorated nudity.

For BURN2, we see it as an opportunity to celebrate the Burning Culture while watching The Man burn under low lag conditions!

How? SKIN BURN!

We do this by having our Avatars wearing just skins, no prim attachments and minimal scripts, so we have minimal Avatar Render Weight (the former Avatar Rendering Cost, or ARC), slowing down the Virtual Playa server.

We first tried this in 2010; this event was an instant hit. We're bringing it back again to the Virtual Playa with the Skin Burn on November 10th! ! Below you will find the information for this years Skin Burn.

To get to the Skin Burn sim, one must be in the BURN2 Skin Burn Group and have the tag active.

Hope to see you there! REMEMBER, access is only available to a limited number of avatars! First come, first served! Alternate viewing of the Skin Burn will be from Elko.

Everyone must be checked in first for low ARC and low script count at a place off sim. Once they pass the checks, they will be invited to the BURN2 Skin Burn group and given the LM to Hualapai. Check-ins will be from 11:30am - 1:00pm SLT and then close. Free art skins will be available at the check-in for those who don't have any.

Burn2: More Fire and Fun

You thought that Burning Man 2 was all over. Guess what? Today on October 30th, Saturday, at 12:00 Noon there will be one more burn. It is a Skin Burn. You are invited to bring your avatar in skin only .. Yes skin only, no prims for a last burn .

Burning Man has a strongly clothing optional / decorated nudity culture - and they are bringing that to the virtual playa at Burn2. The Skin Burn is a special, final burn of The Man where all avatars on the playa will be at their lowest possible ARC and script load so the agent limits can be bumped as high as possible.

It's a party where you're invited to be creative with the idea - you can use skins and layers (but no prim attachments) to create a "look" that is funky and fun. What kind of skin? What kind of look? All kinds! Nekkid, painted, burning or clothed. Sexy, comical, radical, colorful, monochromatic, strange, bizarre, disgusting, obnoxious, creative, ugly, beautiful or creepy! Wear a couch texture! Or a flag! Zombie! Playmate! Whatever rocks your boat.

Before entering the playa you will have some help with lowering arc . The rangers and others will be available to help you so come on to this area: Gypsy Falls (68, 37, 406). After the burn stay for one last party !
