Uccello Poultry Has Died of Coronavirus

Many longtime Second Life residents knew Uccello Poultry as one of Bay City's more noteable residents, as well as the writer behind the "Poultry Report" blog. After over a year of inactivity, her real-life brother CC Columbo posted that she had passed away from Coronavirus, and was delivering her final message. "Caitlin wrote several letters before she passed," He would say of Uccello, "One was for her friends and family in Second Life. Here it is."

In the post aptly named "Logging Out," Uccello would credit her brother with saving her life, though the experience came "at the cost of me being able to speak and an inability to cope with a number of instantly blooming phobias." Such phobias would lead her psychiatrist to recommend Second Life as a way to overcome her fears and socialize. After a time on the Teen Grid, she would start an account on the main one along with her brother who "met me at Waterhead and took me to his land in Nangrim. There he gave me $L100, 16 square meters of land to call my own, and then took me to the Isle of Lesbos. The rest, as the trite say, is history."

At Lesbos I met my soon-to-be sister, Threshin. She helped me become a strong (if willful) and confident woman over the subsequent years. Always encouraging and loving, I learned that I didn’t need to cling to my brother. I also met my wife, Angela, there. Marriages in SL are real, if you let them be so.

I’m also proud to say I was a citizen of Bay City, the BEST community in Second Life. So many close friends, especially Marianne, Pygar, Rachel, Roc, and the eternal Ever Dreamscape. This was truly the life I did not have growing up. And grow up I did. The strength I gained from being accepted into the city and becoming a contributor (the year I was Miss Bay City was the best year in any of my lives) led to me becoming a productive citizen in Real Life. Getting a job, paying taxes, and becoming responsible for others. Just like a real person!

It wasn’t easy, but learning from my Bay City friends and people like Kennylux, my darling sistress Zen, Crap, Anthony & Mo, Vick, KinZiki, Torley, Michael (King of the Moles!), Kaelin, Doc, Loki, all the Moles & Lindens, Claudia222, Cubey, Elvira, Draxtor, Gammy, Kaikou, Honour, Fenix, Shep, GoSpeed, Iris, Miss Jane, Shaman, Parker, Serenity, Owl, Nikokito, Sylvia, Washu, Mr & Mrs Hooker … cripes, I wish I could remember everyone right now … helped make me into the person I am now.

Uccello would cut ties to Second Life when she was concerned she was addicted. And then came the Coronavirus, "Most likely it was from someone at work that CC, his girlfriend, I picked up the COVID-19 virus (along with who knows how many others), learning of this only after we were told to stay home (with pay!) and to wash our hands. Fever, cough, no sense of taste or smell … I was tested. A few days later I’m here in the hospital with an iPad and a teddy bear and I don’t think this is going to be good."

Her last wishes were that her friends help her brother cope with her loss, and ...

/me hands you an impossibly large box.

Take my Love. I have plenty for all of you. Perhaps I’ll see you all on the Big Grid and we can swap stories. I hear there’s no Grid goo and the Feed there works. Until then, there’s so much I haven’t done. Go out and do it for me.

And so, the epidemic that has claimed so many lives in both the world and America has taken one of Second Life's noted residents and a beloved Bay City personality.

Press Release: Bay City History Pavilion -

An expended version of SL10B display finds a new home.

BAY CITY, SL (28th January, 2016) -  For Bay Citizens, one of the highlights of Second Life's® 10th Birthday Community Celebration in 2013 was a display highlighting the history of Bay City and the Bay City Alliance. It was long-hoped to bring the display back to Bay City after the event.

Thanks to landowner Sylvia Tamalyn and History Pavilion producer Marianne McCann, as well as additional donations by Uccello and Angela Poultry-Seale and Laetizia "Tish" Coronet, this display now graces Bay City, hosted just west of the Bay City Fairgrounds. It can be found at Bay City - Molesworth (235, 115, 25)

The build, which will officially open in conjunction with Mole Day festivities this Saturday, is already welcoming visitors from Bay City and beyond. It boasts a chronological history of the city as well as a Bay City poster display, a wall featuring past and present Ms Bay City winners, and a photo display of prominent places around the city.

Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab® and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest group for Residents of Bay City.

For more information, please contact Sylvia Tamalyn or Marianne McCann.

Happy Caturday With Uccie

While at Marianne McCann's firework's show last Saturday, me and Uccello "Uccie" Poultry, the Bay City lady behind the "Poultry Report" (Warning: some images not safe for work) did a little dance while we were both in feline forms.

Uccie came up with the expression "Happy Caturday," so guess it was.

SL12B: The End of the Cake Stage

"All good things must come to an end," and a week after the official end of the Second Life Twelfth Birthday Celebrations, it was time to take down the main stage, also known as the Cake Stage. And so on Sunday July 5, after a day of being closed to all but basic staff, the four sims of the Cake were reopened to all so people could party and witness the cake going "boom." Although it would be more of a collapse then an explosion, they still called it blowing up the Cake.

The festivities began at 4PM SL time. BubbaCJohn (in an Elvis avatar) and Erin Fenser took to the stage and did music for the crowd. Later on, they were joined by a fast-stepping dragon who managed to avoid stepping on anyone.

At 6PM, the main event began to take place. First the stage was raised a hundred meters in the air.

A view of the stage from below.

After some minutes of not so paitently waiting, it finally came crashing down.

What had taken weeks to create disintegrated in seconds.

At ground level, a few people began having more trouble with lag. But most continued to dance.

Yours truly wasn't under the cake when it fell, but in a news chopper piloted by Uccello Poultry. But something went wrong, possibly a stray prim hitting the blades, and we had to bail out.

There were a number of SLB volunteers around, including Mikati Slade, the builder of the cake stage.

And so, the biggest build of the SL12B was now history. But this will be only the first to come down. From tomorrow July 5 to Wednesday July 8 is the "take down" period when the exhibitors pick up their builds. And on Thursday July 9, The Birthday is truly over when the sims themselves go offline.

The Cake and Main Stages at the SL12B

Sunday at Noon the gates open for the SL12B! The parties begin! I thought I would give you a look at the Cake Stage by Mikati Slade. It is just so spectacular as it almost fills four sims. The dance floor is in the middle of the lower floor. The entire installation is just amazing to look at . It was so interesting to see her rezzing it. She has a trick for that.  Mikati has a unique style that has been seen at previous birthday celebrations . It is so recognizable .

In real life Mikati is a “Digital artist from Japan, studied classical sculpture and drawing at art university. Work experience includes illustration, 3D CG, and graphic design on print media.” You can see some of her work here . https://www.flickr.com/photos/mikati/

Savor the Cake! Enjoy the entertainment.

Toady Nakamura is the builder of the Main stage . Her work is recognizable from past birthday celebrations too. This year she and her helpers , “Flea Bussy, Wolfling Winterwolf, Food by Clover Dezno... plants and bounding boxes by iDev Resident and LimRaeth Resident, and general fixing everything we broke the wonderful Cacia Escape. Water sounds by Lorin Tone, Photography by Uccello Poultry.: environmental sounds, clock and everything else, Underfrog” and a host of other assistants.

Toady told me they used over 12000 prims for all the stage , which is much more than a stage . It begs to be explored so don’t overlook it. Up on the top of one area there is a cake viewing point.

Look at the schedule for each stage. I will tell you about the other venues during the week.

A Roman Holiday, a Rezzday, and Partying 'Till You're Purple

Sometimes so much happens in a weekend, it takes time to describe it all. That was the case with Saturday February 21 and Sunday February 22. Those two days saw quite a bit from the Roman Lupercalia to the opening party of "Paint Second Life Purple" to the rezzday party of noted Bay City resident Marianne McCann, and more. Somehow Bixyl Shuftan managed to attend those and more, but wasn't able to finish writing about what happened until just now.

"The Poultry Report" Second Life Blog Moving Due to New Blogspot Policy

Bay City residents are familiar with Uccello Poultry, or "Uccie" as she's commonly called. Besides being involved in local activities, such as her recent winning of the title "Miss Bay City," she also runs a blog about various things and doings, mostly about Second Life, "The Poultry Report." Adult content is part of her postings, such as the weekly "Topless Tuesday" posts. Unfortunately, such content is affected by a new policy of Blogspot, or Blogger, on which her blog runs. Starting March 23, all blogs that run under Blogspot that contain sexual content such as nude pictures or videos with bare breasts and sex organs or sexual activity will be listed as "private." This means they can been seen only by the blog's owner, or those with whom he or she has actively shared it with. This means that "The Poultry Report" would suddenly have a much smaller audience.

Rather than take down the "Topless Tuesday" and other nude pictures, Uccello made the decision to move her activity to a new location. Following her entry on Wednesday February 25, "The Poultry Report's" new posts will be at https://poultryreport.wordpress.com/.

Perhaps it is easier to objectify bare chests on women than it is on men and likely this will always be so. It is an erogenous zone, after all. And as much as I decry the inequality between men and women on this issue ... I can understand some of the reasoning behind Blogger's policy change. I can't help wonder, though, if Google/Blogger will crack down on violent images. Which is more harmful ... a picture of a woman's breast being caressed or one being carved at with a knife? Frequent exposure to anything will desensitize a person to the stimulus it provides. ...  Frankly, I'd rather see more breasts  ... Since my efforts with The Poultry Report have to been focus on Second Life I'll abstain from delving into the nanny state concept behind all of this. Perhaps I'll tackle it in the future if I can find an SL tie-in.

The Second Life Newser also uses blogspot as a platform, but as the publication has a "workplace safe" policy, Blogger's move will have no effect on who can view it.

Hopefully, Uccie's blog will do well at it's new location.

Third Annual Hot Bay City Nights a Roaring Success

Last month, Bay City held their annual "Hot Bay City Nights" event, which offers car designers to show off their classic models and a chance to raise some cash for the Childs Play charity. Celene Highwater was there to take in the sights, and had a chance to speak with Bay City's Marianne McCann about what goes on with this look back at America's classic cars.

Bay City's Sixth Anniversary

On Sunday May 18, the Bay City region in Second Life celebrated its Sixth annual Anniversary event. People and their costumes, floats, and bikes, gathered at a meeting place, and after some last minute planning went down the main road with leading resident Marianne McCann in the lead. Following the parade was a music and dance party. The event was not a typical event as only last week a popular resident had passed away, and at one point a Linden showed up.

"The Well"

Usually during October, I'll have done a review or two of a haunted location in Second Life. This year however, I just didn't have time. Covering the Terms of Service controversy took quite a bit of time,
and the time had to come from somewhere.

So I'll have to mention someone else's review. "The Poultry Report" talked about an exhibit by Loki Eliot's "The Well." Uccello Poultry called the haunt a "must see," even with it's 100L fee for the needed HUD.

(Click Here if the video fails to play)

To see "The Well," head over to Escapades (225/233/3002).

Bay City Celebrates Five Years

Last weekend, Bay City celebrated five years on the Grid. And what do the residents of Second Life's noted area representing the 20th Century North American urban experience do when their anniversary rolls around? Throw a parade and a dance. The event was attended by many residents, including a number of noted residents and a few writers.

Cartoon of the Day

Uccello Poultry of the Poultry Report finds herself in a potentially cat-astrophic situation in the outskirts of Bay City. Fortunetly Marianne McCann was nearby to give her a hand.
