From Distraida's Alt (FishBank Resident), taken at her fishing area as she was getting the place ready for the Relay for Life event, "Best in Purple." "My area is purple until relay weekend," she stated, "I'ma purple up the place. I'll be purple starting Friday night after my club event and will stay purple until after the big weekend. ... There's purple balloons and purple swingsets too. ... and I made my pony purple instead of red, through the season I'll go back to red after Weekend."

Paint Second Life Purple

It's time to Relay. After months since the last one concluded last August, the Relay for Life in Second Life has once again started a new season. This time though the first official event wasn't the Kickoff, but "Paint Second Life Purple" which had it's first events the day before on Saturday March 4. The Newser was there, albeit in a purple form to blend in, and got a few pictures.

A Busy Weekend

It's been a busy weekend in Second Life. There was the Relay for Life Kickoff, pictured above, the "Paint Second Life Purple," the relaunch of Club Xanadu, and other events. There will be more information about these happenings later after a little time to rest and recharge.

Press Release: Paint Second Life Purple

TURN THE WORLD PURPLE FOR RELAY FOR LIFE!

To raise awareness and get ready for the Kickoff Celebration of the 2017 Relay season, Relay For Life of Second Life invites you to turn the grid purple starting March 4 through March 12!   Why purple? It’s the official color of Relay For Life because purple is the universal color for cancer awareness and Relay For Life raises money for research of all types of cancers.  We invite you to join us for a special purple celebration day Saturday, March 4 starting at 9am slt.  Tell your friends and help us get the word out for Paint SL Purple week!

How can you participate?  Turn your Second Life purple!  Wear purple clothes, purple hair, and even purple skin. Turn your house purple, paint your grass purple! Do you own a store? Paint your store purple. The goal is for people to take notice!

Take the purple to the next level by forming a team and registering. Check out our website, relayforlifeofsecondlife.org/ for information on how you can register a team and join in Relay.

To help with your overall purpleness, we’ll be sending out a Paint SL Purple kit too!  You can also get the kit after March 4 at this SLURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/American%20Cancer%20Society/112/46/24 on American Cancer Society Island.

Our purple reign on the grid started in 2009 and has been growing each year. The theme of the 2017 Relay For Life of Second Life season is “Passport To Hope”. The Steering Committee is comprised of  the 2017 Relay for Life of Second Life Chair Nuala Maracas, and co chairs Grace Loudon and Leala Spire.

Events This Weekend

There were a few events that took place this weekend in Second Life. The final Relay for Life spinoff event before the main season, "Paint Second Life Purple," started, with the RFL "Home and Garden Expo" still going on.. The steampunk-themed community of Caledon celebrated its tenth anniversary. Two fundraiser events for the "Homes For Our Troops" veterans charity took place, the monthly one at Veterans Isle organized by Frets Nirvana, and an ongoing one at Grand Manor with music eventx most days (pictured above) that lasts until tonight.

A Roman Holiday, a Rezzday, and Partying 'Till You're Purple

Sometimes so much happens in a weekend, it takes time to describe it all. That was the case with Saturday February 21 and Sunday February 22. Those two days saw quite a bit from the Roman Lupercalia to the opening party of "Paint Second Life Purple" to the rezzday party of noted Bay City resident Marianne McCann, and more. Somehow Bixyl Shuftan managed to attend those and more, but wasn't able to finish writing about what happened until just now.
