Sunbeamer and Roos Air Show

Saturday May 29 was one of the Relay for Life's Sunbeamer team's main annual events: the Sunbeamer Air Show at Farshore Field in Sunlight Bay. For the past few years, it's been known as the Sunbeamer and Roos Air Show, due to "Roos With a Dream" taking part. The event was from 9AM to 5PM.

There were planes flying, and numerous warplanes on display at the airport. There was also bicycle blimp racing, the course set up by Shockwave Yareach and Cynthia Farshore.

There were also balloon tours of the area, courtesy of Skylark"Snowbuns" Lefavre. Other attractions included carnival games and rides, shooting at the dunk tank with a German 88, bumper cars, and more.

The high point was at 3PM when DJ Kalaya and a number of the 'Roos got on stage, dancing away, with numerous Sunbeamers and others in the audience dancing away, and sending donations into the kiosk. The two teams together would raise more than 60,000 Linden dollars that day, the totals announce by Cynthia.

Sunbeamer Airshow went well, We and the Roos would like to thank all that came and donated. We have totals of: Sunbeamers L$38,800 ; Roos L$28,050 for a two team effort of L$66, 850! Woot!

As of now, Team Sunbeamers has raised almost 655,000 Linden dollars, closing in on the next fundraising level. Roos With A Dream have raised just shy of 423,000. But both teams are far from finished. There are the Bid Me Events. There are the multi-team events like the Moon Dances every week and the Relaystock later this month. And of course in June there's the Relay Weekend when the teams walk around the track.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Roos! Go Relay!

Game Review: War Thunder

When it comes to multiplayer WW2 combat vehicle games, most will probably think of "World of Tanks" or "World of Warships." But there are others out there. One that's gotten some attention is "War Thunder." Starting off as an air combat game, it's been expanded over time to cover ground, and more recently sea battles. But even if one sticks to the tanks, there are a number of differences from it's more famous counterpart.

Phoenix Squadron

Among the first things a newcomer resident to Second Life learns is pressing the "Fly" button to get around faster. But what about truly flying like one can in real life? The Newser had a chance to meet one group of Second Life pilots: Phoenix Squadron. The group performs for charities, air shows with friends, or just simply flies for fun.

Press Release: Relay For Life Air Show and Fly-In, Sponsored by the Sunbeamers Team.

There will be an Air Show Fly-in on the Sumbeamers home turf this Saturday the 5th of April between the hours of 8AM to 4PM SLT. There will be planes of World War II on display with information about them. Some pilots will be on hand to give rides and flight demonstrations or you can just BYOAP [Bring Your Own AirPlane].

For you who rather keep on the ground but kick up your feet some there will be two dances in the hanger. The first is from 9AM till 11AM SLT and the second 1PM to 3PM SLT. Once you’re tired of dancing you can help cool each other by taking turns dunking your partner in a nice cool dunk tank. That is after you fire a German 88mm shell into its target!! For a small donation of course, but how often do you get to shoot such an historical gun?

The air show officials and Sunbeamer team are not responsible for any “misses” that hit someone you don’t like.

Battle of Britian, 70th Aniversary

While most in Second Life were buzzing about the Emerald mess, some took the time to honor those who fought and died decades before. Tuesday August 24th marked the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the London Blitz. Residents gathered across three places on the Grid to remember those killed.
