SLB Music Events (Officially) End

After ten days, the music events in Second Life have ended, at least officially. The last one scheduled was at 11PM SL time last night. And now, the stages are quiet, such as the "Funky Monkey" pictured above, with only the radio stream going, with only the occasional visitor passing through.

But this doesn't necessarily mean no more music events period. In the past, occasionally a DJ would take to the stage of one and play for a while. And there just might be some of that going on the last night of the SLB, July 19, maybe. In the meantime, there's the Shop and Hop, the Golden Ticket contest, the Swaginator hunt, and of course the exhibits.

EOTB: "SL22B Live Music Events & Performances"

The Second Life Birthday celebrations start tomorrow. And a big part of the celebrations is music. On Tuesday June 17, Linden Lab posted on the official blog about the music performances.

From June 20th through June 29th, immerse yourself in a musical journey through mythical realms and legendary performances at the SL22B stages!

Get ready for an unforgettable experience with over 530 performances in four thematically designed entertainment venues! This is more than just a party; it’s a celebration of creativity, music, and the tales we tell through sound and performance.

Mark your calendar and stay tuned to the Birthday Events Calendar, so you don't miss any of the magic!

The official events go on to Sunday June 29, then stop. But there very well may be unsceduled ones afterwards.

At the SL19B

Gemma Cleanslate has been at the Second Life Birthday, but not just as a reporter. As one of the volunteers, she's had a view from the inside, such as at orientation with a few of the Moles. Still, some things had to wait until after opening day. Gemma writes some about the stafes, the exhibits, the gifts, and more.

SL17B Sims Combined

Yesterday on Tuesday June 16, the seven exhibitor SL17B sims were combined with most of the remaining ones. Only SL17B Enchant remains apart from the other twenty, with several SL17B Water sims added to the edges. As this is the sim where the Linden homes will be, presumably there is some last minute work done on them.

For the second year in a row, there is no Cake Stage, the tradition apparently having gone away with the resident-run SL Birthday events. Instead there is a Main stage at the corners of SL17B Wonderous, Dazzle, Exhilarate and Fascinate in the middle of the area. To the south end at where SL17B Spectacular and Spellbound meet is the DJ stage. At the north end where SL17B Imagination, Fantasy, Astound, and Awesome meet is the Auditorium for discussions. While we can't show any pictures yet, it will be different from the auditoriums for the past several years.

The exhibitor sims are SL17B Astonish and Captivate in the northwest In the northeast south of the entrance area is SL17B Electrify. To the southwest is SL17B Incredible and Sparkle. And to the southeast is SL17B Pizzazz and Stunning.

Besides the Welcome Area in SL17B Awesome and Beguile, other places include the Tapestry of Time, there's the Gift Area, the Pod Tour Area, and a couple spots to teleport to the Shop and Hop event sims.

The events start at 11 AM on Friday, and go on to Sunday June 28. The sims stay up until Sunday July 12.

SL11B: Tips For a Good Visit

After weeks of preparation and work on the part of the staff, the SL11Birthday celebration is finally here! Remember the first week will be party, party, party! Three stages full of entertainment  , live and djs . The schedule for each is on the website. The delightful outdoor Auditorium will host a number of speakers on many various issues for residents so take a good look at that schedule also. There will be lag of course so dress accordingly and come with fewer huds and embellishments to your avatar for comfort.

Since the 11 sims will remain open for a second week for viewing all the marvelous builds created especially for this event you should get a chance to see a lot. I caution you , though I have been there already for three weeks I have not seen everything and don’t expect to. Past experience tells me I won’t. There is so much to look at and investigate.

Don’t forget there is a hunt going on in all the sims in various builds. You will see a sign at those sites and need to take the time to go in and find your gift. Some creators also have their own freebie gifts set out for you too. I made a special folder for items picked up there so I can be “organized “ (laughs out loud).

I strongly recommend that you take a pod tour to see just what is there. There is a tour for the eastern sims and another for the western. It is narrated so you can see what you are passing by. Hop out anytime you want at a site. There are friendly greeters who can help you get around and pass out information. Don’t miss the vendors containing a special robot for the occasion and teddy bears and more.

The best place to get all the information you need to move around the sims is the website. Keep this close and have a great time!!  http://slcommunitycelebration.com/
