Getting Ready For "Santa's Smile" Event

While the Christmas Expo is going on, the "Feed A Smile" charity is getting ready for another event: "Santa's Smile." It will be taking place on Saturday December 6 and Sunday December 7

Over two festive days, 28 live performers will give concerts to raise funds for the Live and Learn in Kenya children from the slums of Nakuru — giving them a Christmas gift and a festive meal during the holidays.

The Santa’s Smile Event runs through the entire month of December, with live concerts all across the event sim and an art exhibition inside a replica of the original Santa’s Home at the Polar Circle near Rovaniemi, Lapland (Finland). It’s a full Winter Wonderland sim — beautiful, magical, and full of heart.

For those interested in joining up, there should be a few spaces remaining among the 24 spots for vendors. They are free, but 100% of the sales go to the charity. Contact Tom Sparkle if you're interested in getting one.

"Huts and the event area will stay open until the first week of January 2026!"

Feed A Smile supports  Live and Learn in Kenya NGO, which is currently helping "over 570 children receive education, food, and care." Besides food, schooling and medical care is also provided.

For more information on the charity, contact Brique Topaz,  Maria Binder, Kip Yellowjacket.

January will be Hippiestock month!

The sim is open now for blogger and participants, and has a soft public opening on January 1st.

The first event is on the January 2nd with DJ Uli Jansma kicking of the month of events.

The sim invites for some exploring. There are signposts to help you find your way.

(The particle flowers, snow and burst you will find on the sim are also made by April.)

There are frozen waters to skate on, an ice-fishing hole for people who like fishing, a cozy cave for the weary skater, lots of little nooks to sit and enjoy the surroundings.

The Barn, with info on past and present Hippiestocks.
The art area is next to the barn.

A stage for Feed A Smile, the charity which will have a concert on the 15th of January.

The Peace Grove where there will be meditation with Reiki sessions every Sunday in January..

The Drum Circle, which will be held on January 18

Weekend in Brief

There were a number of happenings this weekend. This included Relay events such as the "Meow, Bark, Growl, and Howl Festival" (above) and the Dandy Pianoman live music event at Meli's Maniac's Club Amaranth. Behind the scenes, builders on the teams were working on their builds for the Relay Weekend sims, of which the camps will soon be open to them. There was also a "Feed a Smile" event organized by students from Cag University, a "Geekspeak" event to talk about recent reports of UFO sightings, and a discussion of a just-published book by Max E. Stone at JardenAlexis' Business Center. And with Memorial Day coming up, there were some holiday-themed events.

Linden Sighted at "Feed a Smile"

On Wednesday February 17, the Lavender Field at "Feed a Smile" got a certain visitor at one of their events: a Linden. Simon Linden had dropped by.

Jed Luckless was playing the music. Moondance Resident was doing some particle effects. So the place was a big laggy. Yours truly (through an alt) didn't stick around long.

"Feed a Smile" helps out children in the country of Kenya in Africa. A donation of 100L is enough for a meal. But they also help out with education and medical care. The location in Second Life frequently holds charity events to help raise money.

For more information, check out their blog at - http://feed-a-smile.blogspot.com/ or their website at - http://leben-lernen-kenia.org/

Madpea International Food Fair Taking Place Until March 4

Madpea Productions, the company in Second Life noted for it's detailed games over the years, is running a charity event in cooperation with Feed a Smile, the Madpea International Food Fair. The event started on Saturday with musicians such as Shannon O'herlihy performing. Due to the lag, some attending watched from just past the sim border not far from the stage, or stayed near the TP point and donated to kiosks near there.

The "Queen Pea" Kiana Writer was among those at the Saturday events  On the event's webpage, the group stated, "Our goal is building a kitchen for impoverished school children in the Rhonda Slums of Nakuru, Kenya. The MadPea International Food Fair will raise funds for the kitchen with the help of some of the grid’s top designers, who will sell exclusive food-themed items and gachas throughout the event with 50% of all earnings going toward Feed a Smile. Additionally, donations will be accepted throughout the fair. The fair will be a full cultural feast; alongside the awesome shopping, live musicians and DJs will provide music at the festival’s Center Stage virtually round-the-clock."

By Sunday, the total amount raised had passed the one million Linden mark.

Madpea has done charity events before. In October 2015, they raised over a million and a half Lindens to help build a school in Africa

The Food Fair will have at least two performances every day, today having Beth Odets at 2PM and Zak Claxton at 6PM, with four performances tomorrow Tuesday February 21. The closing party will be on Saturday March 4 from 1-3PM SL time.

For more information on the Food Fair, and the latest fundraising total, check the page at http://www.madpeagames.com/events/madpea-international-food-fair/ . To see the event stage yourself, head to Harms Way (171/151/1234) .

*Update* According to Modem World, the "Live and Learn" charity, which gets a third of it's money through Second Life "Feed a Smile" fundraisers, the people Madpea is partnering with in this event, recently had their outdoor kitchen wrecked due to bad weather.  The new kitchen will be a sturdier and more hygenic indoor one.

Madpea Looking For "High Profile Residents" For Charity Auction

A month from now on September 27 2015, Madpea will be doing a charity auction for "Feed a Smile." Part of a larger organization, "Live and Learn," they are "currently in the process of building a school in Nakuru. The first classroom and staff office were opened in January but there is a long way to go with each classroom costing around 19,000 USD to complete." More information about the project can be found on Live and Learn's website.

Madpea stated that last year, their SL Celeberty Auction for Feed a Smile raised 1.1 million Lindens, "and this year, we want to help complete one of those classrooms and get those kids into education."

But we need your help

Most ‘Celebrity’ SL Residents don’t actually consider themselves celebs but if you are a well-known resident on any scaled and think other residents would place a L$ value on spending some time with you then we want and NEED you to take part in this project. Maybe you’re a photographer that could offer a portrait or a one-to-one tutorial of your work? A prolific blogger who could share your knowledge with another resident? A store owner or creator willing to give a demonstration or create a unique product. Maybe you’re a DJ or Live musician willing to give an hour show to a winning bidder. The options are endless and you get to choose what you give.

The Celebrity Auction will take place on the 25-27th September with a weekend full of live music and entertainment and will culminate with a live auction on the 27th September at a specially built area at !Exodus! Rock Club.

We’ve seen recently with The Lexi Project just how phenomenal the generosity of SL’rs can be and how we can make RL changes to people’s lives when we work together. Please nudge your favourite SL Residents to join us ... We’re also looking for live singers, bands and DJ’s to take part in the weekend events.

Volunteers are asked to complete the Celebrity SL Auction Joining Form for the event.

For more information, one can contact Kess Crystal inworld or by email: kess@madpeagames.com

Madpea's Kiana Writer to Sing at Furry Fair

When Kiana Writer, the head of the Madpea area, known for it's gaming and other activities, agreed to be part of the "Feed a Smile" charity auction, she probably had no idea what to expect. But what happened didn't cross her mind at all, "what I didn't think was that IF I write I'm willing to do ANYTHING for this, then I should be truly prepared for ANYTHING!"

The winning bid for Kiana was made by Chloe Seljan, the owner of the Potpourri Markets. So what did Chloe have in mind for Kiana to do? She had only one request ...

"I need you to sing at Furry Fair."

Chloe is the organizer of the Furry Fair, which has been going on all this month. Today is their "Feed a Smile" Day, and Kiana was made part of the line-up of musicians as a singer.  She goes on stage at 7PM SL time, "As a person who keeps her word, I decided that I WILL SING! It's been neverending practise now to make sure that my voice will be smooth as silk and lots of training (wine) to keep my nerves calm as I don't like to be in front of an audience. No matter what, there will be plenty of SURPRISES and GIFTS for the audience."

So will Kiana end up making scores of fans from Second Life's furries? Tonight will tell.

The event is at 7PM SL time at Boutou (123/119/25)

Press Release: Madpea Hosting Feed-A-Smile Charity Auction

MadPea Productions is hosting a celebrity auction in support of Live and Learn in Kenya's Feed-a-Smile program. Held at Mad City Park on Sunday, February 23, from 8AM to 6PM SLT, we will have a professional emcee and live entertainment.

The goal of the Feed-a-Smile program is to raise funds to feed children in Kenya. There are 400 children in the program who are fed daily.  All 100% of donations are transferred directly to Kenya to care for the children, provide education, medicine, food, shelter, and foster care. Visit www.llk-selb.de for more information.

What we need from you is YOU! We would like to put you up on the auction block (or simply post your photo and bio card on an auction board) and let the crowd bid for the chance to win an hour with you (within a two week time of the auction). This hour can be spent giving a demo of your particular skill - for example, building or designing something, or a behind the scenes tour of your business - or a simple dance date where you share your time in conversation.

Our goal with this event is 1,200,000L, which will feed all 400 kids in the Feed-a-Smile program for a month. We know we can reach this goal with your help.

Please contact Honey Cesuvino or Picoole Bade and then return the attached notecard and a photo of yourself by Sunday, February 16.

Thank you very much for being a part of this wonderful and deserving project.
